No, humans have always been pieces of $hits. Social media merely highlighted and exacerbated how toxic humans have and can be. We didn’t have the technology back then where people can just cancel or bully another in mere seconds with a click of a button Just go back to Sinead Connor as an example, where, in 1992 she WAS canceled for speaking out against the abuse from the Catholic Church YEARS and DECADES before social media and the internet really took off. Outrage culture existed and has always existed ever since the human race came into existence. So, this notion that people were nicer in the 90’s and how people like you believe people have become toxic because of social media just utter HORSE $HIT!

This reminded me of back in the day before the internet took off when you actually had to CALL the movie theater to see what movies were playing and at what times. A pre-recorded employee would list every movie and each showtime and if you missed it, you had to redial again or wait until the recording started all over. And on Saturdays you'd dial and get a busy dial tone so you'd hang up and dial again hoping you got in after someone hung up. 🤣😆

I was 15 when the movie came out. I remember my mom came home and told me all about it (at my request) and I laid on the bed and just cried because I was so heartbroken for Jack and Rose and the real life Titanic passengers. Another bit I forgot to add was that Celine Dion's My Heart Will Go On with movie voice-over would come on every morning around 5-6 am so my mother and I would wake up to turn the radio on to hear it. The song had script from Jack and Rose when they were about to go under on the Titanic. Jack:"do, you trust me?" Rose:"Yes, I trust you." Score: "YOU'RE HEAR THERE'S NOTHING OUT HERE AND THERE I KNOW THAT THE HEART DOES GO ON...".

I remember as a kid being really excited to see a movie in theaters.. it was the early 2000s (born in 1996). I miss that time. People hardly go out to movie theaters anymore because so many new movies stream at home.. don't get me wrong; I love the convenience of being able to stream. But I miss the shared experience with other people. Going out to the movies with a bunch of friends and/or family was really fun.. a whole audience reacting to what happens in the movie and being on the edge of your seat.. I feel like we all live in a bubble now. We communicate virtually, and unfortunately it replaces a lot of face-to-face interaction. I feel like we're always constantly rushing nowadays.. maybe it's just because I'm an adult and I have a lot of stress and obligations. But it really does feel like a completely different world when you just see how the people interact in this video. They seem so much calmer and laid-back.. These days i feel like I'm in a constant state of overstimulation.

I was 2 years old when this movie came out in theaters. I first watched it on VHS when I was 6 and I remember being fascinated by how it seemed like the only movie we owned that you had to insert the 2nd VHS tape at the middle of it.

I remember preordering Titanic on VHS at Blockbuster. When it was time to pick it up hrs early before it’s actual release time I stood in a long line of people waiting to grab their copy. It felt so good to bring it home knowing you can watch this classic as many times as you want now.

I like how the lady at the ticket booth gave that guy about 5 chances to offer to pay for the girls ticket that he was with 😂 until she finally asked if he was going to pay for her or not

I went and saw it as well back in 1997- I think the whole thing about no youtube and hardly any internet created a more magical experience for not only movies but also video games.

I saw it on opening night at one of the best theaters in the USA, the Northpark Cinema on Central Expwy in Dallas. I then saw it nine times more before it finally ended its run at the discount theaters around June 1998.

Something very special about this time period and films. As stated in one of my favorite shows, I wish there was a way to tell you’re in the good old days before you’ve actually left them.

James Cameron might have used fictional characters to impart the real tragedy of the real events but what’s important is that he was able to convey the feelings of loss like none of the previous movies did to such a high degree. I find that extremely important and a grand tribute to those that lost their lives. The fact that ever movie goer has tears in their eyes and are visible moved is a great tribute to the director.

And aside from Jack and Rose, he took great pains to make sure it was as historically accurate as possible.

I remember in my area people seeing Titanic numerous times in the theater. Kids at school were talking about seeing it 3 to 5 to 7 times or so, it was crazy. I myself only saw it once bc I didn't want to ruin the experience by seeing it so many times. I DID however see the 3D re-release and it was amazing, as well as owning the film on DVD and 3D bluray in a Collectors box set.

Aw around 10:19 one guy gets a ticket for Deconstructing Harry which I never realized came out around the same time as Titanic. Deconstructing Harry actually became one of my favorite films the following summer, and still is to this day. This particular time period (late 97/early 98 ) was one of my favorite era's. The week Titanic was released, right before Christmas was amazing. I started dating my 1st serious high school boyfriend, I had the greatest group of friends, including my best friend, and life was just so carefree. Just school, party on weekends, sleepovers, concerts etc just typical teen stuff. All these movies playing plus the music in the background brings it all back. I had no interest in seeing Titanic, but my best friend did a bunch of times. I remember seeing Good will hunting in the theater with my boyfriend, and we both fell asleep through the entire movie, lol.
