Ndiyahamba (i am leaving)
Thandiswa grew up in the 80's in apartheid South Africa. Born in the eastern cape and raised in one of the worlds most famous townships, Soweto, her work is about memory and displacement. The song Ndiyahamba speaks of the longing to return home. Home, away from the harsh urban life and back to her traditions. Home, back to Azania, that utopian place where we are free from violence and oppression, with autonomy of mind, body and spirit.
