The public meeting is to announce construction plans, NOT seek public input. 8' wide protected bike lanes that narrow parking and travel lanes on a 50' wide road space make it less safe for everyone -- cyclists, motorists, and pedestrians -- and remove any flexibility of use for first responders, deliveries, movers, rideshares, even the construction vehicles rebuilding the Adams school. The existing configuration, which includes 6' wide painted bike lanes, is not perfect, but it works well for everyone. The design and timing of this project is ill conceived. At a time when DC is in budget crisis, we can afford to be sensible and WAIT.
