I didn't watch Neighbours that much but my sister loved it, she even visited Ramsey street and got a photo with Doctor Carl. One thing I do remember is also wanting to kill Paul as he was essentially a crippled guy, but a really bad crippled guy!

I love how Ian Smith played this. Listening to his voice over reading his sons note and the way he uses his tone on 'put an end to Robinsons evil' and the shot of his face in that moment was genuinely chilling.
@jaggass

You could see at 1:41 that Harold didn't really want to strangle Paul but felt it was the only ''to put an end to Robinson's evil'' then realised it was the wrong thing to do after Paul collapsed. Harold later told Paul he strangled him and didn't tell anyone. It wasn't actually Paul's fault the plane went down as it turned out that Robert put a bomb on it.

everyone saying that Harold strangling Paul was out of character - don't forget Paul doing most of the shit he did between returning in 2004 and getting the brain surgery in 2007 was out of character - he was the average bloke when the series started, had plenty of friends and family. all went to shit when his first wife shot him. then began the saga of dodgy business dealings, hostile takeovers of the corporate world, affairs, cheating people out of money, attempting to knock down Ramsay Street to build a megamall (a storyline that was repeated in 2005 funnily enough) and then finally with the fraud storyline that sent him packing to South America with his wife at the time and his son Andrew (forget who the wife was) but to go from the dodgy dealings in 1993 to murder and arson and all that real criminal stuff in 2004 was a big step and farcry from the character that went on the run in 1993 and ended up in jail for a few years for fraud. and consider this - Paul burned down Harold's Coffee Shop (one of the few things from the Madge years that still remained), returned to town, made a move on Harold's daughter in law, framed Harold's son for fraud so that he could get in bed with the wifey, made dodgy deals with Affirmacon to knock down Ramsay Street to build a mall (even going as far as to blackmail the bloke that Harold got to examine the wetlands so that he too would say that Ramsay Street would end up underwater) , polluting the water (killing the wildlife and eventually being indirectly responsible for Stingray's death in 2007), and all this came to light before the saga with Paul's leg amputation so Harold knew all of Paul's dodgy stuff and the truth about David being framed. And then of course when it emerged that Paul was sleeping around with Izzy around the same time he was wooing Lil, that had to be another mark against Paul's name in Harold's book. I'd say by this time, with the death of his son in a plane bombing targeting Paul, and the letter he found in the jacket saying he hoped someone would end Paul's evil, Harold was well and truly justified in doing what he did (not in the eyes of the law as attempted murder is never justifiable, but in the eyes of a bloke who had so much shit happen to him all because of the local tycoon) When it comes to Paul, what was out of character for him was forgiving Harold when he confessed to strangling him, as in character, he would have plotted revenge instantly, but thankfully the bitchy Izzy put Paul in his place and made sure to get revenge on Harold

Paul’s wife at the time he fled was Christina, one of the Alessi twins. I wish they hadn’t changed him to evil. I understand why Harold would have a meltdown after every bad thing that happened to him though.

How many lives can Paul Robinson have? I mean, first he goes over a cliff, then the plane crash, then the poison pen letters, then getting strangled by Harold, then the mine shaft saga, then getting shot by his evil son, then the brain tumour and then Rebecca pushing him off the mezzanine! How can someone survive that? But then again I guess snakes can survive anything, right? rofl:))))

the sugarhill gang released one of the first rap records over 30 years ago, i saw them in 1999 and they still play, many artists from the 80's still play. you can't say they have no longevity, the music's too young. decent rappers are about wordplay and meaning. you just know the 'guns bitches n bling' crap on tv. and you're right, that is shit. :)

see, what we have here is a distinct lack of understanding of both punk and hip-hop. it might seem that way to the untrained ear, but you just have an opinion that is based on a lack of knowledge. whereas i listened to my dad's country records a lot when i was growing up and most of it is, save a few artists, cliched crap. also, true musical genius does not always equal being really good at singing or playing the guitar.
