I had one of the four button watches back in around 1980/81. Great fun and loved the tune.

Thanks for sharing this! I had one of these as a kid. Loved it, played it a ton, got all the way to the end several times (which, if I remember correctly, was only a score of 1999), and sadly lost it while on a bike trip with some friends. It even mostly-survived immersion in water; after drying out, a couple of the LCD segments no longer worked, but the game still played fine. I remember thinking that the sound at about 6:12-when the ghost is "eaten" while also crossing over 1000-reminded me of part of the Star Wars theme. SO many memories tied to this thing!

Ah, this is the later model, that played Dixie for its alarm. The original model played an off-tempo version of the arcade game's intermission music.

I had the joystick version of this from Christmas 1982. One of my fifth grade classmates had the four directional button version.

The joystick version is actually quite different (I'm guessing you remember). I don't and never had it but from my research of it learned it has 2 LCD layers instead of just one like most watches and LCD games do. This results in it either showing the time (and day both more predominantly than later single layer game watches) or the game instead of the time plus "attract screen". The joystick version instead has a dynamically changing maze as the maze is made of LCD elements instead of the fixed printed graphic of this version. The joystick version is similar to the MGA Pac-Man LCD game kzitem.info/news/bejne/z6t32mSpnYyJioo that way but those two aren't exactly the same either just closer than this one game play wise.

I can't imagine this being practical to play while on your wrist. Think I'll go for the joystick version rather than a directional pad.

I've memories of reaching 1999 (the max possible score) as a child while wearing it so the buttons are less of an issue than you may think. That written in the decades since first getting it the buttons have gotten mushier and less responsive. Also note that the joystick version is also a different kind of game with the maze made of LCD segments instead of this one's fixed background graphic.

This is my childhood watch, they haven't been made in decades. There regularly are ones up on Ebay but finding one available that is fully working is less common and likely will cost a few hundred dollars.

@@billydawsonmusic My actual watch? Currently no, but I' would love to see them get remade as part of the nostalgia market like Mattel did with those four Tiger Handhelds. So in a way I kind of hope but 99.99+% doubt this and/or other videos of these watches that are out there help to sell the concept of them.
