I think this has potential. I'd definitely give this a try... would you?

The muscle powered one probably sucks when you get a cramp. There's another battery float pump thingy that goes to 10 meters, which at 3 hours is closing in on the limits of no deco. I foresee these being rented out to tourists with little-to-no training.

Hi, Shadi! Yeah, the muscle-powered one is a trip, right? 3 hours is very impressive! I did see another unit just yesterday, Air Buddy, from Australia, that goes to 12 meters. Nice unit. I think these have a promising future.

Jim why is it hard to own and get tanks filled in Japan 🇯🇵?
@DiscoveryDiversTokyo

Hi Mark! Well, diving is generally very controlled here for few reasons. One reason is the fishermen control all the water, so allowable diving locations are limited. Then, air fill stations are highly regulated and need to be built like a bomb shelter, so are very expensive and few. And, most of these will not fill a diver's tanks, only the dive center's rental tanks. So, in all, very few folks own their own tanks.

I would use this. You don't need any special training?

Hi Tammy. There are still some of the usual dangers like holding breath if you were surfacing, or ear injuries. This company has an online video/training system in place. I think these units, and ones like it, have a bright future.

Do you think it's a good place to start? Or would it potentially mess up any future scuba instruction?
@DiscoveryDiversTokyo

@@tammyeldred2035 Ah, would not mess it up. Just depends on what you want to do in your diving future. For me, there are many areas here where it's hard to get tanks. In the US, easy to own and fill tanks, so everywhere is divable. Also, these stems are limited in depth.

Gotcha. So you would probably still need a dive buddy then. Flying solo right now. :/

@@tammyeldred2035 Hi, yeah, I'd have a buddy, unless diving in 1-2 meters of water like some of these fossil diggers. Prolly even then a good idea, cuz you never know.
