Hi Jane! In the LTT, Could you clarify how you and your partner would know how many trump cards they are holding as a total? Could you walk through bidding in progress to demonstrate how to apply LTT? Thanks! Sanjeev

Say your partner opens 1H - you know your partner holds 5. You are holding 4 hearts yourself and have 2 points. Bid straight to 3 hearts. Your 4 with partner's 5 = 9 hearts held between you - bid to the level of 9 tricks - the 3 level. Your partner now knows you have 4 as you have gone to the 3 level. If your partner had started with 6 hearts, they may raise/compete to 4H because they now know you have 4 from your bid. Hope that helps a bit Sanjeev. Good Luck with your bridge.

In Standard American, if I hold 12-15 hcp with 4-4 in majors and I open 1D (3-card D suit), and partner responds 2C, what do I rebid? The barrier is 2D which I cannot bid within (with just three D cards).

Rebid 2NT - showing a minimum hand of 12-14 and unable to reverse. Partner has 10 points - they may bid a 4 card major if they are strong enough for game. Remember they had a chance to show a 4 card major at the one level but chose not to - so you may yet find a major spot. In the Nesting Pairs series the 1NT is 15-18 - hence the rebid of 2NT in the sequence you describe will be 12-14. Hope that helps Chris and good luck with your bridge.
