Wondered if you had any advice for starting a Kung Fu journey in your 40s. The training looks great and I would love to improve my flexibility, strength etc. But many of the videos seem "beyond" my capabilities so I wondered if there was any guidance for us "mid life crisis" people starting out haha. Keep up the great content.

I'm 71 and started my journey. The only mistake beside not starting is not finishing. There is a HUGE difference between 40 and 70 in terms of goals. My goal is to build strength and flexibility and maintain/improve general health. I incorporate Qi Gong and lots of breathing into my KungFu practices. I practice every day alternating harder and easier routines in order to recover. There are lots of videos to inspire you. I cannot move with his intensity, it does not matter. I simply modify each exercise for my ability, go as low as is comfortable, do fewer reps, etc. YanLei probably started when he was 3!

40s is young. You've paid a little too much attention to media and western propaganda trends. Historically speaking many of our more famous generals in China were on the field in their 40s and 50s making a name for themselves. It was more common to die at a younger age through a lack of wisdom. Which is why many schools came to focus on that when they originally came to Shaolin in the south. How you begin depends on your [shape] prior to that. If you are sedentary or have been, most things will be beyond your ability. Rushing will teach you to use a wheel chair not a traditional art. Build a solid foundation. You cannot gain reasonable strength, or flexibility without the other. So you must do them incrementally together. Only stretch warm muscles. Also take suitable recovery periods. This is not 'lazy' as westerners often put it, it's where growth happens. So to begin take reasonable breaks for that. Over time you can increase.

Eat more meat shifu, you are sore from overtraining, hell you should be at least 95 kg now if you added more protein

@@lazarmitrovic180 On je već hipertrofiran, pogotovo za Kineza a i nije više najmlađi, koliko znam ima 50 godina. I vidi se da mu se već stvaraju masnoće pa bi ispao jedno malo burence sa 95 kila. Šalim se, dobar je on, u pedesetima još izvodi špagu...
