Don't think of any serious off roading though. Royal Enfield is more of a fashion brand than a motorcycle manufacturer. City bikes, fine, but off roaders - think twice. Their existing Himalayan's chassis snaps even under moderate off roading and it has only 25 hp. below is the link. And this is just one sample kzitem.info/news/bejne/25BszW19sl9pZYo The 450 might look good like other REs but might be a ticking time bomb as RE has zero history in off roading and sells products purely with marketing, not with engineering prowess.

Agree, some great new toys on the way! The Honda 500 scrambler is the front runner for me personally, though its 250cc stablemate (shown in your screen grab) could be a replacement for my CRF250L, with some knobbly tyres fitted. Two bikes sadly missing though .... a more road focused/gravel capable 19" front wheeled Tenere 700 and a similar offering from Honda, (rather than the off road focused 21" new Transalp). There's a place for the hard core 21" offerings, but for most of us mere mortals, a 19" softer version is a more practical alternative. Maybe next year?

You've probably already seen it but Abarth did a version of the Gen 1 XSR 900 and it looks similar to this concept, and absolutely incredible, trouble is it was fairly limited edition, so you wouldn't want to ride it! I've failed my Mod 2 a couple of times and was resigned to riding 125s for the next few years, but despite being a giant I love small bikes so the CFMoto 450, Honda Scrambler 500 and even the Hunter are all pulling at my heart strings, might throw more money at the bike schools. TEC Bike Parts in the UK are working on a tuning pack (probably a camshaft) for the RE 350 engine, but of course it will probably only take it to 23bhp or so, they said they liked the torque so didn't want to sacrifice torque for power

@@RocketMan_Moto I’d definitely prefer the 19/17 option. I don’t like the lack of front end feel with a 21” front on the road, particularly when it’s damp. I’m also not looking to do extreme off-roading, just trails. A 19” front is more than enough for me ! I bought a Transalp brand new, Gen 1 in the early 90s and sold it at a loss within the first year because the lack of front end feel scared the carp out of me ( I commuted to work with it in all weathers - in the wet it scared me to death ! ). Definitely not a fan of big front wheels if you are only looking to do casual off-roading. The rest of the time they just ruin your enjoyment. Cheers Rocketman, ER

@@RocketMan_Moto See ? I told you we are always in agreement 👍😛 I like your road tests and ownership reviews ( that’s my bag ). Unfortunately here in most rural Spain it’s damn near impossible to find a demo bike and if you do find a dealer with one, it most probably won’t be the model you’re interested in. I’ve bought four brand new bikes here in Spain without ever having been able to try them. Fortunately they’ve all been great so far. I did baulk at spending nine grand on a Street Triple R without ever having ridden one but fortunately the good reviews were confirmed. Such a brilliant bike and when I sold it on, I made a minimal loss, so it goes down as one of my best ever purchases ! Cheers Rocketman, yes, the whole Elton John movie thing could well have affected your presence in the algorithm 😂 The things we have to worry about eh ? ER

Haha, I have exactly the same problem here in the Algarve. There's really only Triumph & Honda that are what I would call 'proper dealers'. The others tend to be blokes in their garage that they've converted into a 'showroom'. They put a sticker in the window, 3 helmets on the wall and a couple of bikes inside and call themselves a dealership :)

Spot on with the V100, way too long trailing that and getting it to market. Looks very nice and expecting the engine to deliver more than it promises on paper, but that price is going to be an issue. Hoping they will get it into a new V7/V85 at a competitive level.

Apologies in advance for being negative! But personally I don’t relish the thought of a premium Italian motorcycle with a Chinese engine in it! On a more positive note I do yearn for a middle weight bike that handles and can tour like my old Gen 1 Multi. Any news on the previously rumoured Ktm 890 Adventure with 17” wheels? They could do very well with a smaller version of the Superduke 1290GT imo. The Beemer xr900 interests me but perhaps a little bland, and the MV TV is nice but a little too expensive…….🤔

interesting new bikes. yes, the KTM design is polarizing, you either love it or hate it. Kiska design studio, which creates the design for all KTM, is known for a radical look. The Ténéré 900 and the 900 GP Retro bike really appeal to me. I'm shocked by an MV Agusta with a China engine, which really scratches the exclusivity of the brand. The most interesting for me is a Triumph 660 and the KTM Adventure 490. But the 490 has been announced for 2 years.

I had a Yamaha Ténéré 700 for a year, but it was too top-heavy, and it was not the bike for me. I got an excellent deal on a Suzuki SV650, and sold the Yamaha Ténéré 700 soon after. When I got my SV serviced, I was looking at the Suzuki GSX-S1000GT and plan on getting one in the not too distant future. The SV will be staying as a second bike, it's that good. I think the Suzuki GSX-S1000GT is a better all round package than the Kawasaki Ninja 1000SX. That superbike K5 derived engine is superb, it's a very good price, and it comes with a three-year warranty, what's not to like! I guess you've already dismissed the Kawasaki Versys 650 and Suzuki V-Strom 650.

@@RocketMan_Moto If I wanted to do some off-road riding, I'd get something very light with a small capacity engine, they're much more fun, and let's face it, most adventure bikes don't go off-road. For road trips, I'd get a Suzuki GSX-S1000GT - why not get both! I think adventure bikes are flawed when it comes to the road, and there's a lot of hype surrounding them. They were originally built to tackle a desert terrain, not tarmac. They're top-heavy, and have a high centre of gravity because of their tall suspension, combined with a large fuel tank, and they're hard to move around, especially if they have a 21" knobby tyre fitted. A GS or Multistrada with a 19" wheel might be a good compromise. They're very nice bikes, but again, they're still very heavy and rather expensive.

Honda used to make 4,5, and 6 cylinder bikes that were exciting and amazing. Now they're doubling down on the parallel twins that sound like an old refrigerator. Disappointing to say the least. As for Triumph, i hope they push for a Tiger Sport 1200 with the same engine from the new Speed Triple.
