Notice, most aftermarket windscreeens have what I call a 'flip-lip' at the top. That creates turbulent air, and if you're tall like me it creates that turbulence right at your helmet visor. This creates helmet buffeting and increased noise. I've had a similar windscreens on my 2005 V-Strom and also similar shape to my 2011 Ninja 1000. I preferred to simply add an MRA deflector to the tip of the windscreen. The angle is adjustable. You can soft mount it, which I prefer, or drill holes in the stock screen and mount it. The problem with the adjustable windscreens is they become more upright as you pull them taller. This is what I call a snow plow in the wind. I wish they would simply stay at the same angle no matter what position the screen is at, but that would mean the windscreen hinges would have to come out of the fairing from both the top and bottom and the same time, then you pull the windscreen upwards. Too complex for most manufacturers to bother with. That's why I use the MRA deflector on a stock screen for my setups. The angle at the tip is adjustable and you can get rid of the turbulence caused by the screen standing so upright against the wind in the higher positions. The deflector angle can be adjusted on the fly. You can also get the deflector to basically match tint on any screen you do buy, from clear to dark smoke. Me personally, if I bought this bike I would change out the bars to something a bit more sporty like club bars... if they would fit and clear the fairings. That's something I would like to hear about from you - changing bars on this bike to be not so tall.

Great voice, very good presentation. I have wanted to purchase the Deauville bike for a few years now. Just have to pay off my car first! Kind regards from Scotland.

Also, you said that the +2" Cee Bailey windshield will be your go-to summer windshield. Does this mean you have a different preference for a winter windshield? If so, what is it, and why? Because you said that you didn't think the stock windshield would ever find it's way back on your NT700.

Thanks! very informative. Makes you wonder what the guys at Honda were thinking when they put the OEM shield together?

You described in detail the effect the +2" windshield has on how the wind hits you in the shield's various positions. To know how the +2' might work for me, it would be good to know your height and inseam. That way, people could have a better grasp of if they should perhaps go to +4". Also, a big gripe I have in the rain is how much rain gets under the lower edge of the stock screen when the shield is fully raised. Then, the wind coming up underneath just sprays the rain all over my tank bag's map pocket and a cascade of water constantly flows up over the top of the instrument cover, and puddles at the bottom of the instruments around the reset switches. It just makes a big mess. Is the Cee Bailey any better in this regard? It seems with the lip at the top of the new Cee Bailey to reduce turbulence, perhaps the cutout at the bottom isn't necessary, as I assume Honda put that there to get airflow underneath to reduce turbulence, and of course also to show off the HONDA emblem. Without the cutout, there would be less area on the bonnet to collect rain and catch a free ride in on the wind coming underneath.

Hard for me to comment on the rain because in 6 years of ownership, I only got caught in the rain once. However... I don't recall it being as bad as you describe with the stock shield. I am 6' tall with a 34" inseam if that helps. I leave the +2 on all year around and find that it suits my needs perfectly all seasons.

Hello from Argentina Soundthechguy!!!! I recently bought a 2007 NT700V, the windshield is original but it takes me a lot of effort to make it move. I've removed it completely (following your instructions) tried using WD40 to lube it but it is still very hard to move. It takes both hands and to face the bike in front of it, no chance to move it sitting on the bike. Is there a way to grease the mechanism? Thanks for your help, Nico

+Nicolas Sansalone Good to hear from you and glad to hear of your purchase of an NT! Sounds like you did all the right things. Typically... spraying in a little WD40 or some Hondalube does the trick. Since you bought the bike used, it may be possible that the previous owner lubed it with some white lithium or silicone grease. Grease works fine, but can accumulate road dust and grime after a period of time (or it can harden with age) and can make things worse. If you spread open the rubber track seal and look in with a flashlight you should be able to see the track and glides to see if it is loaded with filth. Probably the best thing would be to dismantle the fairing, remove the track assembly in order to clean and lube it properly... but I have no experience with that. You may be able to find some kind of aerosol spray cleaner that could flush it out (just make sure it wont harm plastics or painted surfaces). MAYBE something similar to this; www.mcmelectronics.com/product/TECHSPRAY-1652-10S-/20-4660I know stuff like this is used to clean sensitive electronic components that are subject to harsh environments and most are generally safe on plastics. I would still be very careful with these sort of products however unless you know for sure that it wont harm anything it comes into contact with. Hope that helps!

andy dean hello!!! I looked into it, and to my surprise and disappointment, I am sorry to say that Cee Bailey has ceased production of motorcycle related parts as of September 18th 2019. This is very sad news indeed as they were a quality product and a fantastic company to work with. All I can say is keep an eye open on the web. It may be possible that someone buys the design rights and puts them back into production. Very sad news indeed.
