I always did corners like your Dad, never gave a thought to any other way. Now living in Florida with much less acreage I miss that Haybine.

Like many others I'm really impressed by your dads skill but I'm also super impressed by your camera work. I have an idea how you do some of it but still "hats off to you".

That was the first haybine I cut with. Sorry to say I don't miss it! Have a New Holland 7450 Discbine now. Neat to watch your dad make the corners!

We had a neighbor who mowed with a haybine and did just as your dad does. Never missed a blade of grass. He had a Massey Ferguson 720 mower conditioner

Can see the young fellow on the tractor has had a lot of experience at cutting hay, bet he likes the smell of freshly cut grass ?

I thought I was the only one that turned corners like that. It's even easier with a tri-cycle front end.

My dad used to do the same thing, with a Case 600 & an old 3-pt JD sickle mower. As a kid I thought it was very cool. When I got older & tried it myself, I couldn't! And then I started wondering how he did it w/o catching/breaking a finger on the steering wheel.😁

Better off cutting around the field in a smooth easy way rather then such a sharp snap turn ! Easy to break a PTO or rip a tractor tire on the haybine . After finishing go back and clean up the corners. Just go a bit slower and allow the hay to feed through. Ive always cut around the field instead of going empty on the end. Never understood going empty on the ends. Much slower !

Nice grass hay! I could cut hay like that with my narrow front JD 60 but it was rough on my U joints, so I quit and did the 270 degree rotation. Did Dad buy his John Deere's new? There was a JD dealer in Escanaba back in the 70's.

AKWayne S I believe one was new and one used from that JD dealer you speak of and I think it was called Farmers Supply back then!

Jerry Hill I wondered how long before someone would ask, the tractor stays parked in the manure room under the barn cleaner and it’s a low ceiling.

I'm looking at buying this model you guys have any problems and how do you unplug one of these

Give it grease and oil the chains and you will have no problems. But every year we change the sickle bar bushing, when it wears out. You’ll hear it, extra rattling. Lower your cutter bar if it plugs up and shut everything down, crawl underneath and pull the hay out. It sucks but it happens. Overall it’s a great machine.
