Speaking of which, session musicians like Jerry Hey, Gary Grant, Greg Phillinganes, Larry Carlton and Paulinho de Costa should also be inducted. Ah, Pamela. Flash back to '88, sophomore year in college, and I fell hard for this new student, Pam, that had just transferred in. She ended up Friend-Zoning me, being new to the campus and not wanting to get tied down too quickly. My roommate just tortured me afterward, singing this song unprompted whenever he wanted to give me crap. Turns out, I really ended up loving the song, even after the real Pam had moved on and eventually got married out of college. Fast forward more than 20 years later, after two failed first marriages, we ended up re-connecting. Been married now since 2012, and couldn't be happier. And, this song still rocks! Only now, without the extra sting. I agree, Professor, Toto is one of the great American bands of all time. Without a doubt, one of the best collections of musical talent in one band. I've loved Toto's music for many, many years, but only recently have I begun watching their videos. It's amazing how much more meaningful the music becomes when you learn something about the individual members of the band. Years after their deaths, I find myself grieving the loss of Jeff and Mike. It literally hurts me when I watch them in the old videos, and know they were cheated out of so much of their lives. Some of my favorite songs - I Won't Hold You Back, I'll Be Over You - mean a lot more to me after seeing Steve Lukather singing with his heart in every word. I can't help feeling that he was singing about his own life. I wish I had some way to let them know how their music affects me, and how much it has become a necessary part of my life. All of this is badly expressed, but definitely from my heart.

These are two songs that technically are hits but most people in the mainstream aren't aware of.. when people think of Toto they think of the stuff with Bobby Kimball on vocals.

Steve and Joe are really great, humble guys. They still have a passion to create. I definitely need to pull out Fahrenheit and The Seventh One. Not to mention picking up their new solo albums. Another great video, Adam. Enjoy your weekend.

One of the things that I've been doing recently is going back to songs I heard as a kid/teenager but never really got into until now. "Pamela" was definitely one of those songs that I just rediscovered, so the timing for this video couldn't have been better for me.

ToTo is already a ballgame band in my heart. They are awesome musicians and great vocals. I grew up listening to ToTo and modeled my drumming after Jeff’s chops which is very hard to follow but like Luke, David, Mike and Joesph are masters at their craft topnotch musicians! I don’t think there isn’t any music they make that would ever be bad. We all miss Jeff dearly in my mind one of the best drummer ever and, I think he was way ahead of all drummers also Luke and David rips their parts. My favorite band of all time!

Thanks for this. Pamela has always been my favorite Toto tune (along with Rosanna, of course). LOVE the way piano/bass/drums in the verses. KILLER!!! And Luke is a great story teller. His autobiography “The Gospel According to Luke” is fantastic.

Two of their greatest. Love them both, but Rosanna is their best song. This band, and all the members deserve to be in the HOF. They played on the majority of the hit songs in the eighties.

I learn something new every day on this channel. I'm a big fan of John Williams I have a bunch of the sound tracks he has composed and I never knew he had a son that in music, I'm not really much of a toto fan so I didn't know his son was in the group ..

"I'll Be Over You" was so good. Steve is a massively underrated vocalist, probably because he's obviously one of the best guitar players in existence. That and I Won't Hold You Back, besides Pamela are my favorite Toto songs.

I love "I'll be over you" too but I'm surprised how rarely that song was played live. They played it during the Fahrenheit tour, of course, and just maybe 5 times after, but not much more ...

Got in early on this one! :D I'm such a Toto fanboy! :D These guys are my musical heroes and "The Seventh One" was the album that properly reeled me in back in the day... I was about 12 or 13... (I'm 43 now!) - I found an instant attraction to Joe's high strung vocals but beyond that, a lot of my favourite tracks out of the whole Toto catalogue are on it. I called "Home of the Brave" my favourite song on the album for a long long time (Listen to it loud and with a good pair of headphones - Goosebumps I tell you!) - Any stories you can draw out of the guys on any of those songs would be a whole world of awesome. You made my day so thanks for that!

I've been a Toto fan since day one as an 18 year old who discovered music. Toto have the ability to move your soul. It took me 30 yrs to see them live and have now seen them 3 times in different incarnations. One of the biggest compliments I heard was at the Hammersmith Apollo in London. There was a young kid in front of me in the mosh pit and he said "they sound just like they do on their records". Kind of sums up how professionally tight and gifted they all are. The snub by the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame doesn't really matter. As Luke has said on numerous interviews "They hate our guts". To me they are, and always will be, genuinely passionate and extremely gifted musicians who just want to get out there and do their stuff for the people who really understand them and love them. They've been thru hell with the loss of Jeff and Mike, such tragedy, but they continue on in their eternal memory. Thank for sharing the passion of Toto. Respect.

I think an interesting show on Toto would be to revisit their debut self-titled album from 1978. There's so much there beyond Hold the Line, I'll Supply The Love and Georgy Porgy. So many different styles. Remastered for the All In box set they add an end vamp to both You Are The Flower and Angela that gives a great live feel to the tracks. The fact that Luke is only 19 and is playing all those amazing solos is incredible.

I bought a CD of Mel Tormé and the Marty Paich Dectet because it had 2 Donald Fagen tracks. I learned that Marty Paich was David Paich of Toto's Father. Also read somewhere that the Toto members played in the band of the Carol Burnett Show. Is that true? They were probably in HS or just graduated if that's the case. Also Toto's song Stranger In Town from Isolation featured Joseph Williams. Didn't it?

In '73, I had a coworker named Rosanna and, omigod, she was drop dead gorgeous. I turned all to jelly when another good-looking coworker introduced her to me. She had this perfect long brown hair parted so perfectly to the side that was as straight as a laser beam. She went to a rival HS and dated a basketball player who drove a Camaro. Needless to say, I couldn't help but get punched in the chest when TOTOs Rosanna hit the airwaves.

Im a hard rock kind of guy but Toto has a special place in my heart. I remember first hearing the song Hold the Line back in the day as a 8 year old and was blown away. The first Toto album I bought was Isolation while back in High School. I havent missed an album from these guys. Im always pumped up when I see any members named or the band in your Video headline.
