What a shame. Companies are so willing to come out and do emergency repairs for top dollar but won’t spend the time on PM’s to maintain equipment to ensure reliability. Unfortunately your industry isn’t the only one guilty of this…..

thing I do not get is if they have the unit open and the belt is right there, How hard is it to change a belt and get some reasonable tension on it? And check the motor and fan bearings are oiled up.
