That’s exactly why I like the 502. I remap the sniper button for use with other short cuts. Also remap the dpi buttons when I launch games so I can use it for stuff like pinging. I’m glad they didn’t make it a completely new mouse and upgraded some stuff like the switches and gave it a little extra customization.

Yep, since I get my G502, I get why many people like this (or liked it until the lightweight gaming mice trend emerged). The problem I have with light weight mice, its just all about lightness anymore but they are basically just a normal mice. For most I guess that's fine, but I felt like I need a mice that allows me to actually do more since I don't use my PC only for gaming, I even do it for productivity and since pandemic, use for WFH use as well. G502 despite marketed as a gaming mice, is actually for me one of the best productivity mice out there, better than to even likes of well-regarded MX Master Mouse from the same company. The extra buttons are great for quick macro/shortcut functionality for different apps I used and for gaming as well, not needing to reach that certain function on the keyboard that is too far to reach with the fingers. I don't want to develop RSI in the long term, the buttons actually benefits ergonomics for me and makes me feel more efficient. I'm kinda disappointed that most mice and keyboards are indeed moved away from extra macro and dedicated keys for years. Felt like I'm paying more for less and very few options that offer one that now they became expensive because they became more niche.

@@Aturixios Yeah for MMOs, those mice like Naga or even Logitech own G604 are better suited. I actually want to get those since those extra buttons would be sweet for productivity, but I'll wait for update of G604 assuming Logitech hasn't forgotten about it due to light mice trend we have these days. G502 is hands down the best mouse of all time. There's a reason why it's been the top seller for so long. Perfect weight distribution for stability and precision. Fits so ergonomically and works well for any use case including professional creative work as well as gaming. Having 3 customizable buttons just around the thumb is a god saver. Not once has the infamous "double click" issue ever reared its ugly head. Not once have I ever had tracking issues with it. Not once has its mouse wheel ever given me any issues. Really the only problem I've had is that over time, the rubber grip along the side has worn down significantly. Beyond that it still functions like a champ, which is incredible considering just how long I've had it and how much abuse it's taken.

Heavy mice? The wired version is 30g less? I've had the wired version for years now and the first thing I did was stuff like half the weights in it that it came with for it to be heavier. Whoops. Have been thinking about going wireless on my KBM setup because the wires on my current Logi stuff are starting to bother me. Between the 502 X and Plus models, I'll probably be spending the extra 20 bucks and get the lights. I've had my keyboard set up to light up a particular way for years, and I've always wanted it with my mouse.

So coming from the pro x superlight, I thought I already had the best mouse possible. Wireless, 62g, yk the drill. Before the super light, I had the wired model O-. So i've been a lightweight mouse guy for sometime, switching to a heavier mouse felt different at first and im still getting used to. But this mouse is amazing. I switched mainly because I wanted to try and ergo build and I love it. Everything from the build quality, to the overall look of the mouse. AND IT'S USB-C! Frank! You NEED to do a review on the Corsair mice like the M65 Ultra Wireless, Ironclaw Wireless, Dark Core Wireless and the Sabre Wireless. Also their headsets like the HS80 and others. Sadly, it is a current trend now, so the heavier gaming mice will be a niche and expensive thing to have these days. Normal productivity mice are not suited for gaming due to Bluetooth latency and other connectivity issues. There might be still heavier ones, but from lesser known brands that the quality may be hit and miss, and software might be bad.

The G502 was the dream mouse for me. Literally talked about it for years before my girlfriend got tired and gifted me one. So hate on it goes straight over my head. Definitely love that they've updated it and not just a facelift either. I do agree, the central plastic shroud takes away from its iconic design. Now would I spend the extra $20 on RGB, my heart wants to say yes, but the real answer is no. Would definitely choose the X (in black though). To answer an unasked question, would I upgrade from my existing 502 to the new one, hell no, not unless I run into real issues.

Yep, G502 is actually a great productivity mice, IMHO better than MX Master since G502 have far more buttons for function shortcuts/macros and the software allows you to have far more cutomisation and profiles for that. The RGB is a useful indicator of the mode you are in than not having one. Battery life difference for me isn't that much having RGB on anyways, and I don't use effects. The price difference for me is kinda negligible since these are expensive mice to begin with even without RGB, the savings isn't much in there. Weight difference is negligible for only 4 grams diffence. Even that weight reduction is still not comparable for even the heaviest dedicated lightweight mice in the market anwyas.

I've been a fan of the G502 for a while now, and I'm excited to see Logitech continuing to refine and update this classic mouse. The new hybrid optical switches sound intriguing, and I'm definitely looking forward to trying them out for that unique tactile feel. Regarding the different versions, I'm a bit puzzled too. I appreciate having options, but the price and feature differences between the X and X Plus are somewhat perplexing. Personally, I lean towards performance and functionality, so I might opt for the lighter and cheaper version without RGB, but I'd love to hear what others think about this pricing strategy. Looking forward to your in-depth review and more gameplay experiences with the G502 Lightspeed! Keep up the great work, and as always, I'll be following your updates on Twitter. Cheers! 🎮🐭

After a bit more than 2 years (of course :( ), my G502 Lightspeed also started suffering from the switches doing a doubleclick when clicked once. So got myself the G502 X Lightspeed ... and it feels like a kind of downgrade - It feels way more "plastic", it has less "body". This is partly because of the lighter weight. I knew they decided to ditch the extra weights (a decision I personally don't understand?) but it's really too light now. - The left and right click has more travel. There where with the G502 had a very light and direct reaction, with the G502 X I have to apply just that little bit more pressure and feels/acts less direct. - The 2nd DPI change button got way too big. I have big hands and now when using the Forward button, my thumb is also touching that bigger DPI change button a lot of times. - The DPI indicator is now just 1 led and is placed there where you can not see it because it's now behind the scroll wheel (and my fingers). - No direct check option anymore to see the battery level, now only shows when turning the mouse on. - The pros are there too: the gliders are better and the option to turn around the thumb button for easier acces. Returned it and got a normal G502 Lightspeed again. The X is just not worth the money and the normal model is way cheaper now.

They should've just made the decsion to launch it either with or without the RGB and price it somewhere in the middle ground. Those who dont want RGB can just turn it off, its not rocket science.
