PowerDrift First of all, take a bow guys. PowerDrift = Unbiased true blue automotive reviews. Hands down. I seriously wished Maruti Suzuki comes up with there boosterjet turbo petrol engines soon and start local production. No automatic transmission on the S-Cross is a deal breaker for me. So is the dropped 1.6 DDIS. But well being a full import not much Maruti Suzuki could do. But safety wise, S-Cross would be the safest Maruti Suzuki car to be sold in India for sure. For a Hatchback, its the Ford Figo which in my books is the best buy. 6 airbags on a hatchback at sub 9 lakhs on road price is a great package. Ford Ecosport also has a gud sturdy build and safety features. Tata Nexon will also be good. Wish Maruti Suzuki arrives with a proper SUV at 10-15 lakhs (Grand Vitara kinda). Hyundai Creta and Jeep compass is on my list for good cars to own at 15-20 lakhs. Above 20 lakhs, a car without proper safety features and below 4 global NCAP rating should not even be considered. A bigger question among us petrol heads is either to go for performance n driving pleasure or value and less maintenance. I am always in too minds in these case but one thing i like is a hot hatchback, no sedan no SUV. Most affordable being the Ford Figo S diesel. If not the Figo, i would rather get the Polo GT TSI any day. Amen. #PDArmy #PowerDrift bit.do/WinAn-iPhone8

Honestly I feel this is one time that the PD got it wrong. What I appreciate about PD is that even when the market doesn't respond to the merits of a car being blinded by reasons such as styling, brand appeal etc, you bring out the true potential of a car and points out the good things that the car offers in it's segment. The Nano, for example, was appreciated by PD for what the little car offers in practicality despite what the masses thought of it's design and "status". I had personally checked out the S-Cross 1.6L when it was launched and it thoroughly impressed us and the friend who was with us bought it over the Creta. Though none of us were impressed by the exteriors, the car had stonking performance. Apart from that, the car felt spacious, solidly built and the interiors were better that any of the other MSIL cars. Now even though the 1.6L is shelved, the 1.3L still is a very practical car. I don't know what made you feel the interiors were cramped. Could it be the all black interiors over the beige inlays and taller seating position of Creta? I'm 6'2" and when I check out a car, I adjust the driving position for my height and check how much space is there for the rear seat passenger. The S-Cross had ample space, much like the Jazz. When it comes to pricing, it is priced much lower than a Creta with similar features and nearly identical to the Brezza. I feel the S-Cross comes across a more rounded product than the Brezza for those who are shopping in the Maruti stable when it comes to space, ride quality and built quality. The S-Cross Zeta and Brezza Zdi Plus are priced very close and nearly matched on features except a few like rain sensing wipers, Automatic headlamps etc. But I'd pick the built quality over the pseudo-SUV looks and a few gimmicks any day. Now after discontinuing the 1.6L Multijet, enthusiasts definitely has to look elsewhere. But for someone who just needs a practical car, the S-Cross still shines. Looks are a matter of personal preference anyway.

Hi sir. I'm planning to buy day after tomorrow I.e., 05.02.2019. I paid advance also. But now I'm confused whether to buy or step back. As I heard many are complaining about rattle issue. Currently I'm a Ciaz user. I bought Ciaz in March 2017. Absolutely I have no complaint on Ciaz. For the sake of SUV feel I want go for Scross. Can I stick on to Ciaz or buy S-cross. Will I be satisfied with Scross after buying like how happy I'm with Ciaz. Pls reply ASAP.

Nice review as always! The car I would suggest people to buy is the VW Polo. PowerDrift has done a wonderful job with the review. But, I would like to highlight few things the polo does, that makes it better than my car ,Baleno 2017. My dad owns the polo and I just love to drive that car, it's really good compared to the Baleno. 3 small things the polo has that makes it so much better. 1. It's raining heavily and u switch on the hazard lights. Now, you want to change the lane and u pull the lever down (left indicator). What happens? Polo - Switches off the right indicators and switches it back on after you switch the lane and pull back the lever. Baleno - Doesn't switch of any light, you have to manually switch off the hazard light, push the lever to the left, change the lane, pull the lever back to position and switch on the hazard lights again! 2. The wiper! Polo - Switch on the wiper and you can observe the difference. It actually wipes and pushes the water away and repeats the process. (You have 9 different speeds to choose from) Baleno - Just goes left right left right left right. 3. The lock. Polo - You and your family drive to a far off location, you get down from the car, you wait for others to get down. But, the people sleeping behind take their own time to wake up, find their shoes, their socks, wear it and get out of the car. Meanwhile, you can just lock the car and leave. When others shut the door the polo will switch on all the four indicators to tell you that the car has been locked, no issues. Baleno - The car just doesn't lock until all the doors are shut. You just have to wait there till all of them step out of the car. BLAH! Polo is not the BEST car. It does have space issue (Doesn't have stadium like space inside :P), but the new Polo based on the MQB platform will have more space, I hope. Baleno is not a bad car, but everything is just OK in that car. Nothing great.

First of all let me congratulate the power drift team for this excellent video There is no hype in the new S cross I own a 2015 1.3L diesel S cross and I d say it has more space than a creta It is more refined and feels more premium than an 85 ps duster and on par with the ecosport It does have good ride and handing and is miles above the brezza on comfort and space Sure it is under powered and 1.6 ll sorely be missed I was waiting for the facelift to swap mine with that 1.6 engine that maruti had planned I d buy it over the Creta any day, as I am not an SUV man and I d prefer a crossover / soft roader than cars pretending to be SUVs. I dont think maruti would bring the 1.4 boosterjet. I d not be surprised if Maruti tries to plonk the 1.0 litre boosterjet in this car. But I feel Maruti is waiting for the Made for India Grand Vitara.(Non Brezza Vitara) with a 2.0L MJD (FCI / Jeep would have started making those for the compass) or even the 1.6 LMJD which could come in the upcoming cheaper compass. For a non enthusiast S cross is not a bad option at all. 11L OTR for the Zeta version is a steal, compared to the over priced Duster, or "Capturrr" or the overpriced Creta.

I absolutely love my jeep compass and here's why: Jeeps can do a ton of stuff they’re pretty flexible you can drive over curbs, drive safely over heavy water, and get right through the mud and dirt. Little road bumps and even big road bumps won’t stop a Jeep. They last literally forever.Okay, maybe not literally.Jeeps were made for rough-housing and toughing it out, so they had to be made to be reliable. So, while other cars would break down through half the shit a Jeep goes through every day. I LOVE road tripping and Jeeps have convenient features that make road tripping easy.I love camping out in my Jeep.They’re beautiful cars and many of their features and aspects bring out some of the best parts of any road trip =)

Btw that was a very subjective opinion you have put forward as a generalised statment about this being a stop gap car. I was in the market for a spacious, comfortable feel good car with decent ground clearance, that looks good and has some great features. Scross ticks them all. Its spacious, has some amazing features like bixenon leds, all disc breaks, full leather interior, soft touch dashboard, great ride and handling. Yes it could do with more power but this isnt underpowered. It has adequate power and for the price of 13.5L OTR compare it with the hyundai creta that just misses on kit that scross brings in for 17.2L OTR and it just doesnt make any sense. The interiors, braking, handling and overall comfort is better in scross compared to creta that costs 35% more.

you need to look at price its offering. Can you compare a 5 lakh car to a 10 lakh car, same in the case of Creta, for the price its offered, its too expensive. Duster is excellent in ride and musculine looks, better low rpms but lacks in other aspects. Creta good in looks, engine refinement, suv stance but its not a fun to drive car. Had test driven felt pain on legs due to long clutch where u need to lift ur leg a bit and driver back support is bad creating back pain. Its rear seat is for 2 only as the central part is like sitting on a small pillow. S cross issues are low power, slightly noisy engine, lack of rear ac but hits back with stability, all wheel disc brakes if u care safety and for 11 lak on road with all top end features its a whoppy 5 lakhs cheaper than Creta. If u can spend 15 lakhs, then why not a Jeep compass and even a cheaper but great Renegade is also coming.

If someone is looking for a mid sized sedan so mainly there is only three cars to look at as they cover more than 80% of the market. As I recently purchased one of the three so I had done plenty of research and watched many reviews so now I have enough knowledge to give a fair advice to anyone on this segment. so what I understood after all that research now I am going to share with you. That three cars are Maruti Suzuki Ciaz,Next Gen Hyundai Verna and Honda City. As we all know Honda City is the leader in this segment and followed by Maruti Suzuki Ciaz and the old verna is not giving competition to these two because of lack of space inside,lack of boot space, out dated looks and many more factors but the Hyundai has bounced back with all new next gen Verna and now the competition is back between these three cars. First of all lets look at the price range of all three cars as there is a considerable difference in the price range. Ciaz Rs7.87L-Rs11.66L ; Verna Rs8L-Rs12.88L ; City Rs8.73L-Rs13.77L. So you can see there is almost a difference of rs1Lakhs between the top variant of Ciaz and Verna and between the top variant Verna and City which is a considerable amount. so after all that research I have concluded that (1) If you need a mid sized sedan which should have a very good amount of space inside as well as in boot with decent interior and should have decent amount of features list and with a sophisticated looks and your budget is little tight then you should go with Maruti Suzuki Ciaz. (2) If you need a mid sized sedan which should have sporty and futuristic design and which can turn all the heads around it and which should also feature loaded with some first in segment features also like ventilated seats, hands free boot, auto link and eco coating technology and with a most powerful engine in the segment but you can compromise a little on space inside as well as in boot in comparison with its competition then you should go with Hyundai Verna. (3) If you don't want a sporty design but the most sophisticated sedan in the segment with good handsome amount of features and with very good amount of space inside as well as in boot then you should go with Honda city. BTW I have purchased Hyundai verna and powerdrift helped me a lot in making my decision so thank you team powerdrift you all are doing great job. #PDArmy bit.do/WinAn-iPhone8 kzitem.info?q=%23PDArmy

I have watched this video like 15 times now... ill tell you why.... 1. Ten Hut I always love your presentation. ( still the VW polo video is my Best P.S Another POLO) 2. Review can't be anything better than this. Basically we know a lot about Suzukis 1.3 ltr engine, wow its been more that 10 years. We really don't want to know whats the space and others ( by the way I still watch that 5'10' guys video just to see the rear space of a car). so why tell the boring stuff. 3. you actually nailed it when you said why the s-cross still lives. its just to cater that 2000 people. thats basically the best thing you want to know about this car. Tons of luv for you TEN HUT & Glen Recently.

In my opinion the S Cross was never a bad looker and I mean the earlier version too. True it doesn't look like a traditional SUV or isn't captivating but it has its own charm in the subtle and simpler design approach as opposed to the brash or bolder designs the competition had. It actually reminds me of the Chevy Forester of yore which was good looking great car and the S Cross is an overall solid package for someone who don't need/want an SUV

From my perspective, Honda City 2017 VCVT is the successor around its prize segment. Not only because it's handling, sharp crisp shifter, and linear power delivery and smother to drive its also has Continuous Variable Transmission(CVT). At given Gear: Max acceleration proportional Peak Torque At given Vehicle speed: Max acceleration proportional to Horsepower So, you always want to sit at peak power, instead of peak torque for maximum acceleration. In MT, AT, DCT we lose a bunch of torque, on the other hand, CVT just adjust the gear ratio apart from shifting, you can get maximum acceleration as fast as anything. So as the acceleration increase, you can get 16% more WHEEL TORQUE compares any other conventional transmission unit. it's pretty cool. Perhaps, we can wait for direct drive (without transmission) update, to announce this machine as a successor.

So Mr 'Expert', this review was full of flaws, so better focus on facts than mere style. I'll try and point out some major mistakes - 1. The S-Cross doesn't compete with the Captur or the Compass for that matter. It costs close to Rs 7 lakh less than the Jeep, and the captur too will be in the same price bracket. So no point calling it 'left out' coz of these two cars. 2. You didn't like the space on inside BTW it's in fact as spacious as the Creta, so it's surely not 'cramped' like you said. What do you expect from a car that's a hatchback-based Crossover? And who told you that Europeans don't like space inside. it's because of Europe's liking towards bigger cars in the existing segments that segments like Station wagons, crossovers or premium hatches are rage there. 3. You found the S-Cross' 1.3 litre engine less powerful than the Captur's 1.5. Why are you even comparing these two cars that belong to completely different segments? It's in fact the Captur that's less powerful than the car's it's trying to compete with - C-segment SUVs. 4. It doesn't sell as much as the Duster, it's almost double than the Duster. While the Duster sells close to 1200 units/month, this one does around 2500. So get your facts right. I've been a fan of PD, and I still am, but work more on your content & facts than mere style and music. Otherwise, it kills the whole purpose of 'reviewing' cars.

Shreyas Prabhakar Hey I am no expert. I am a consumer too. Maruti is definitely gunning for Captur and Creta. If in the market to buy any of these cars one would compare these basis the similar amount of size/power/equipment on offer. Creta despite having the shortest wheelbase is roomier because of its height. Jeep is a wildcard entry with its lower variants sneaking dangerously close with strong aspirational value. Numbers will vary month to month but the S Cross sells good was my point too..just not by Maruti standards. Feedback appreciated though and thanks ! See you next time :)

Piyush Pawar Dudre, you have every right to call me whatever you want - Maruti Suzuki Fanboy or something else. But does that answer my queries? Try and be a lil logical instead of calling me with names coz that's not going make any difference to me or the reality. I found this review to be flawed and pointed out since the S-Cross doesn't belong to a segment that this review is trying to portray. Anyway, you can now shame me for speaking in favour of Maruti, but my friend the S-Cross is the best that Maruti currently has and is in fact better in built than some segment-above cars. I would haven't said anything had Rohan criticised the Baleno, Brezza and Dzire coz those are unnecessarily hyped cars and we have better cars in their respective segments. But even the staunch Maruti critics have agreed to the fact that the S-CROSS is a pretty good product. Anyway, have a good day. :)
@shreyasprabhakar8769

Rohan Albal Thanks for the reply. But my friend if Maruti Suzuki is gunning for the Captur with this one (if they've said it officially or unofficially), they are wrong too. But I've watched/read almost all the reviews of S-Cross, not even one has said that it is trying to eat into the sales of C-segment SUVs. You rightly said that a consumer considers a lot of things before buying a car, but the most important is the pricing, size or segments come much later. So I don't think a buyer with a budget around 10-11 lakh will even look at the cars that are above 15 lakh. The price difference of Rs 5 lakh is too huge, and that's why I called the review to be 'flawed'. Dude I have nothing against you, I am a huge PD fan but can't buy a logic that just doesn't feel right. Have a great day, mate. :)

I just drive two different S-Cross today, I found it to be more powerful too. I like one thing in it which I found missing in Brezza, all four disk breaks. I disagree with the inside space in this review, I found it enough for 5 people, in fact you get more space for rear passenger in leg room. Overall I liked the car. Hey PowerDrift I've given all my GOOD car recommendation by comparing it with its rival or its alternate car. I'll be doing the same today by comparing the Maruti S Cross with Hyundai Creta (top variants). Engine: The Hyundai Creta has higher CC engine than the S Cross, resulting in churning out more BHP from the Creta. The Mileage on the S Cross is much better than the Hyundai Creta, but the Creta has a much bigger FUEL tank capacity. Safety and other Features: All the features are similar like the ABS and Air Bags but the Hyundai Creta has Cornering Headlights which does help in dark conditions while travelling. The interior features are same and we can expect much comfort in there. All said I feel the Hyundai Creta is a GOOD car according to me because of its higher CC engine and SUV like styling and comfort. MY vote and recommendation is the Hyundai Creta. PS: Please do check out my other comments and recommendations on my Facebook. Me recommending GOOD cars. That's all from my side. Happy Diwali !!! #PDArmy #RecommendingGood

I own a Creta 1.6 ,sxO top model, Creta it's just amazing car to drive, it feels connected to road at all speeds, Test drove s cross, duster, terrano, would say Creta is clear winner in terms of power 1.6, built quality inside n outside, Engine refinement, Features, ESP,TCS, EBD, HHC, 6 AIRBAG, Standard in top variant, 17 in diamond cut wheels,...

The car sure do look nice and better than the pre-facelift.however the 1.6 motor is a true miss.had an opportunity to steer the old 1.6 for a brief time and it was a great experience ....the car pulls amazingly.Even with the 1.3 mill this car is good for the masses and as u said the enthusiast in you and me will be saddened due to the lack of 1.6 engine and boosterjets.Hope maruti will bring their line of boosterjets to India. It will be a perfect gift for the petrol heads in India.

I am looking for diesel car around 12 lakh budget, After doing lot of R&D WRV and S-Cross 2017 model came to my mind. I have little confuse which one I have to choose between these 2; I heard some of review S-Cross is lack of pickup. Please suggest.
@powerdriftofficial

Hey Deva, both those cars belong to completely different segments. The S-Cross is a bit bigger than the WR-V, and more expensive too. About the lack of pickup, we felt it was quite adequate.

First criteria for comparing cars should be the price. For 11.4 lakhs on road for Zeta it comes with Cruise control, Alloy wheels, Touchscreen with Nav, Auto AC, Driver h8 adj, Rear seat h8 adj, these features worth itself 1.5 laks. For the same features Creta comes 14 lakhs, a whopping 3 lakhs difference. S cross issues lies in low power engine, slightly noisy engine. But cretas ' long clutch, not so fun to drive nature is also a concern. So can we say its not fixed, it comes at a reasonable price and easy maintanence.

The HYUNDAI i20 elite is the 'Good' for me because it is good in all terms. It looks more good than the Scross or the Baleno ( wbich was launched after the i20 elite) . Even thought ths i20 is pretty old when compared to the NEXA Range cars, nothing can beat it. It feels alot premium than any other car in its segment for the price we give. Hyundai nowadays have been producing GREAT MACHINES which has good all the premium features and looks. I simply can't stop loving the i20 Elite 💕👌🏻💯.

I think renault captur is for style centric people and hyundai is for people who look for power and s-cross.... Well they does nothing apart from the front. Isn't it? I personally like the captur because I don't really care about power in this segment of cars because, SUV. I just want a companion who can pose to take a pic with the amazing landscapes I make when traveling the world.

Brilliant and spot-on comments. Just on the dot! Maruti and Fiat should have considered localizing the 1.6 MJD and it could have possibly found its way under the hood of the upcoming Jeep Renegade as well. Now with the 1.6 being dropped, my hunch is that the Renegade would come with the same 2.0 MJD from the Compass.

Ten Hut is the best host there is no doubt on that , coming on to the car segment , I love Jeep Compass, planning to own one soon , reason being 1. The Looks 2.Price Segment 3. Accessories and Features that they are offering. 4. Apt for city as well as Highway cruising. 5.The smoothness of the engine on the car while you are drinving takes you high to cloud 9 . 6. The off roading capacity is tremendous. so yes I guess I am sorted which is my next car.#powerdrift.

Tata Nexon has has a hunkered down/wide-ish stance that is so unconventional in the Compact SUVS/ crossovers . Has premium looking interiors, sufficient interior space within its compact forms, very refined power trains with adequate performance, benchmark ride and competent handling, and with this brings something refreshing to the market at the affordable meat of the market with respect to price point. It is the car to buy for now.

In my opinion the Renault Duster is the best bargain one can get. The segment it once ruled is now slowly going out of its empire with newer player gunning at the throne. The Brezza tries to cut the bottom edge with its India specific boxy design, cheap price tag (also somewhat cheap build). It is a good car but does it have the road presence? The Creta tries to one-up the Duster with its beauty and a bigger sticker price. But with all its bells and whistles and party tricks up its sleeves that make it so much more premium and utterly desirable, how capable is it off the road? The Scorpio is from a different league and the XUV500 doesnt quite make a case for itself in these grounds. The S-Cross couldn't cut in very well. The Compass, a thoughtful product, an overachieving product if I may say is really making me worry. But with its Diesel price range eyeing the region of 20 lakhs it doesn't really come close to a Duster. Should I complain about my double thoughts on after sales service? The face-lifted Duster has got its weakness straightened a bit. Its better equipped. It has got a new set of apparels for itself. Okay, there are quality issues. But whats also "okay" is that its proven it's stand as an SUV. It doesn't flaunt a badge or the looks of an SUV without proving itself. A skilled driver can take it off tarmac, splash it through streams, scale small mud hills, play around in the slush and end up having a date in the city mall at night. The all wheel drive and the light body support the cause. The in your face styling does have some presence, hate it or love it! Is it the best? For me, yes! What do you think? My people at Powerdrift.. #PDARMY

Good. Ford Endeavour 3.2. It gives you all the quirks and perks that the competition does and then some. It’s feels the most powerful. It has more features. The most butch SUV available in the price bracket. The car stands tall belittling Fortuner (which looks like a soft roader now) and certainly is more feature packed. It’s the best.

Don't buy a Maruti just because your grandfather had one as well. Try to do some research before buying something. I am very happy that we have a team like power drift to show us the difference between cars and at the same time giving respect to the cars which deserve them. Fiat Punto Abarth, A car with same space as the S-cross, at the same time with the same power as the mighty XUV 500 but cheaper than both of them. Doesn't that sound appealing enough? Guys wake up and use your heads and STOP buying Maruti cars just for mileage, your precious money deserves some good cars and be the ones to give birth to a demand for better cars.

Suzuki s cross facelift. It's a crossover, it's from suzuki which is a major seller in India so there will not be any shortcomings in service, it comes under the premium segment i.e. Nexa so obviously better and improved service, it's packed with all the latest features in interior, it has a way cheaper service and parts compared to it's rivals in the market and it is car released to please the Indian public so it has all the features and power for an average Indian buyer to have an SUV like experience. On the plus side, it now has better looks.

Well so the car that i liked is non other than Skoda Octavia RS. The main highlight is the masive engine with 230 hp. The practical and well suited boot space. But the car is not ofcourse for the family man,rather its for one who wants the feel of a sports car n the comfort of the Sedan class. The car gives so much that it is worth of having a look. #pdArmy
