This season was a year of firsts for Gaven's younger brother Aaron. After harvesting his first bull elk in October, he was looking forward to hunting Barbary Sheep for the first time. The tag that he drew just happened to be an area that both Gaven and Nick had experience with. After setting out to scout a few days prior to the hunt and locating a big ram, the chase was on.
Barbary sheep hunting is a waiting game. Hours are spent behind the glass and relocating to other vantage points. It is not unusual to see sheep almost every day, but seeing a shooter is a different story. After two days of seeing nothing but small rams and ewes, Nick finally located a potential shooter ram.
The plan was to bed him down and get on him the next morning, however, that night Aaron came down with a fever and was unsure he would be able to walk far. Thankfully, our ram was bedded close by. After relocating the herd and throwing a quick stalk at first light, Aaron was able to locate his ram and squeeze off a perfect shot to harvest his first ram.
