@whatdoyouthinktodd
2 жыл бұрын
The thing is he probably doesn't think about his next move. He drives up to the ditch looks at it for 10 seconds and starts digging before he knows it everything is removed and it's ready to go back in That's a great thing about experience no thinking involved. Just in my opinion now I can be totally wrong I have been wrong many times at least that's what she's told me just kidding One of the best things I ever did. 😇
@markpashia7067
2 жыл бұрын
@@whatdoyouthinktodd Oh, he thinks it through before he touches a joy stick. The key to this kind of work is know before you start so you don't mess up and have to do things twice. By the time he fires up the machine it is all worked out in his head and then it becomes muscle memory. Experience comes in when a plan comes together. The newbie makes a plan but it does not work so now he starts winging it and trying to make it work and it takes twice as long and is not as good in the end. Having a realistic plan at the front makes a world of difference. Chris is the best at that. He started so young that he is a master at a young age. Just a kid really but got the same years of experience as an old man.

Man where I live I hated dealing with cattails clogging up the ditches. There you have vines, trees very little cattails due to the trees and vines and some other plant that has some serious roots!! I could tell right away it was sandy soil. That’s what we had in a lot of our area when I was on the farm. We didn’t have the black part of the soil. It grew corn and potatoes very well though. Definitely a lot better soil where you are Chris than what was there where I was farming, that’s for sure. I grew up in the era where those d*mn corrugated galvanized culverts were being used to create a pond overflows like what failed here. The valves on them corroded so quickly and they were always a PIA to operate, we then put corrugated overflows more like what you did with the black ABS you installed. We had theses 22.5 and 45 degree elbows we would put on them. After watching a couple of installs we did the work ourselves on the ranch. There were definitely enough ponds and dugouts that needed the work done. Working installing those collars though was a definite cut on the hands somewhere if you weren’t wearing some very good quality work gloves. There was always a shard that was waiting to get ya!! You did a really nice clean job as usual here Chris. Your Uncle John lined a nice week’s worth of work here on this property. Sometimes it’s a bugger to convince farmers to do a bunch of jobs all at once I suspect. Fix what’s worst and come back another when the other work needed completely fails!!! We were a bunch of cheap buggers!! Hahaha. We did eventually learn at our place that it was worth doing a bunch of preventative work while getting some absolutely necessary work done and save a load on transport costs that have to be included in the bids each time. It also created a work location where eventually there were no serious failures and we could keep up on proper road maintenance etc. I think we eventually started saving some significant $$$ once we got ahead of the failures. The video covered a lot of work here. Very fun to watch and somewhat reminisce. Thanks Chris.

Small pond Builders have to start thinking about putting Pawns in the shade so there's less evaporation because we're always in a drought now so I would try to keep it in the shadiest spot as possible
@Taskarnin
2 жыл бұрын
Any pond will always be in the sun mate. Unless it’s surrounded by some 1000 year old trees (which we don’t have on the east coast and Midwest). It’s more about how big the pond’s water shed is. Some ponds can have huge water sheds, even 2-3000 acres as all that land drains through where the pond is. Others have almost none and will never be full often.
@smjhobbies4527

@@Taskarnin that's funny I live on the east coast Vermont is the east coast and might be the Northeast but it's the east coast and we have lots of Pawns in the shade surrounded by trees yeah I get it down there where you don't have any mountains like we do in Vermont that's true but it's not true in every state on the East Coast, mate
