The new machine looks OK but I don't really see a lot of reason to upgrade.Plus I'm not too happy with ResMed at the moment after all the grief they've given you. I hope that all blows over and they realize that they need to play ball with you and appreciate how you support their products. You are so calm and reassuring to the CPAP community which is really important for us. Thanks again Nick!

I just recieved my Airsense 11 yesterday. It replaced my Airsense 10. I had the Airsense 10 since 2016 and it started making a high pitched squealing noise so I had to replace it. The only major difference I found is that it is easier to breathe with the Airsense 11, and the Humidifer works much better than the Airsense 10. Thank you for this informative video I have watched this several times. Keep making great content. 👍

The most welcome change would be if ResMed (and Philips!) finally committed to the true Open Data standard called FHIR for their software, and gave everyone, including patients access to the full data set in the machines. Modern CPAPs are packed with sensors that track useful data and yet patients have access to a tiny fraction through the lightweight apps they give us. The data from the patient should be the property of the patient! And added benefit to those Apple users who use the Health App is that FHIR-enabled data would be compatible with Health and you could see your CPAP data in the context of all the other data displayed, And enable two-way reporting with EHRs where Apple Health already has interoperability.

The (in my area) so called sleep experts just want to sell the machine then get a yearly mask sale at $380 canadian ( only giving you 1 size mask thats it?). Funny First question asked in Nanaimo, BC, Canada is (Who is your insurance provider? Then tell you the cost of the machine say 3500 in my case) We are not regulated in BC and they can do this to everyone. All companies are doing this. Nick should sell his machines to us , another idea

G’day Nick, when I was diagnosed with sleep apnea I asked my doctor to recommend a machine, he recommend Resmed S9. He also said I should buy it from the USA; he said it would be cheaper. I did this and it was $1000au cheaper. The funny thing was I lived 5klm from Resmed headquarters-at Norwest. I still have the S9and I love it it’s been overseas with me at least 14 times. I have a Dreamstation 1which is no where near as good as the S9. Keep up the good fight.

Great to see a new video out! Why in the world is there such a price difference between Australia and the US!?! That seems so extremely wrong! Since my insurance provider chose the dreamstation for me, and since you revealed the foam issue, I've been looking around for one to buy out of pocket to have as a backup. I did write to someone and asked if there was going to be a recall. They said no, but no one had been affected and less than .03% of the machines had the problem. (I'm not sure how much of that I believe and also have to wonder if it's a marketing ploy.) That's still 30k machines per 1 million. Anyway. In one video you mentioned the one you use and said it was good and not horribly expensive. I don't remember the video and I was wondering if you'd let me know which one? Thanks for all the time and research and info you put out here. It is greatly appreciated.

G'day Uncle Nick so I am a real CPAP customer , I have been on the res-med 10 for 5 or 6 years now. I got the good ole motor warning has past usage. Well I had been wanting a new machine anyway. I upgraded to the Res-med 11 , I saw this review before I upgraded and was going to get another 10. At the last minute I decided to get the 11 , it has a 2 year warranty. I have used it for 3 nights now I like the touch screen , the water tank is smaller I think easy to over fill. I have been having the dry mouth thing for the last couple of weeks (ALL of a SUDDEN). I ordered a chin strap to help resolve the problem. I have tied a doo-rag around my chin it helped but mostly falls off in the night. I had one good night with the 11 , I think overall I sleep better with the new machine. It's mostly set up the same pressures but on auto mode. I'll let you know for sure the deal once my strap arrives. Sam from the good ole USA. BTW I use and old style mask Res-med Activa LT , the told me at the store I could not get it anymore. With a little tenacity and being a little over bearing , they found a hole box of unsold mask in the back. I got me self a new one. lol BTW insurance paid 80% of the new machine 😃

Great job. I'm in the market and I will check out the Air Sense 11. I purchased the new Dreamstation 2 and I regret it. I can't return it, so I will use it as a backup machine or travel machine. I hate wasting money, but it is what it is. I've own the Air Sense 10 for over 6 years and it does work, however, parts wear and calibrations may not be as tight as a new machine. Thanks again.

I am 37 and I seem to have a very mild form of sleep apnea and in order to see whether I need CPAP, the doctor gave me this machine for a month. At the office I tried a nasal pillow and hated it. My nose is often stuffy and when you open your mouth and the air comes out, thats just pure scary. I went home with a full face. I put it on and immediately liked it, to me it was somehow calming, and this constant stream of nice humid and filtered air solved many issues at once: no more breathing dust, pollen and cat hair. My wife wants the window open, which gives me a sore throat etc. All solved by the cpap. The pressure makes it easy to breathe with my slight constant asthma. I slept 8h ish without a break. Being a biomedical engineer, of course I check my data and my layman opinion tends to think I will probably just have to hand it back. I almost wish I can keep it. Am I the only one? 😂

Nick, you've been such a help as we traverse this recall situation. I have a Philips and my husband has a Resmed so your tearing into machines has cleared up many questions. Now I have a new one. We recently purchased a Philips nebulizer, an InnoSpire Essence. We are having trouble getting a firm answer from Philips about whether these nebulizers have ANY foam in them. We understand they aren't part of the recall, but it still concerns us. So, if you get an opportunity, we'd love to see you tear one up! They are cheap ($29). Thanks so much!

Good to see your still reviewing on KZitem mate. I think Resmed need to move ahead from the "for her" stuff on this equipment or maybe re-name the setting to something else. I would consider the 11 model if I was due for an upgrade, I kind of like how it is similar to the 10 and I wouldn't have to learn any new tech.

Sorry to see that they changed the plug where it attaches to the machine. I run mine off of a 12V battery system at home and in the RV. The 12V Resmed adapter is pretty pricey but high quality. I don’t appreciate having my OEM 12v adapter obsoleted by Resmed. Can’t wait to see what they get for the one with the new plug, if they even make one. I am currently unable to locate one at any price. Also obsoletes all my surplus water chambers and heated hoses. I expect I’ll be able to find the older models (which work fine) at bargain prices so I can buy one to leave in the motorhome instead of having to carry it back and forth.

I've been dealing with a supplier in Massachusetts that only had resmed 10. Last month they told me a fitting would be in November 8th. So I contacted the hospital and they said they could see me sooner but they don't have resmed for her. Lots of back and fourth and finally gave up on the insurance equipment and bought the air mini out of pocket for a monthly fee via Easy Breathe. Using the for her feature for 2 weeks and love it. Got a call from the supplier and said, of we have an available appointment today and we have the resmed 10 for her. I was like so there and got the fitting. Then I get a phone call from the hospital to say, oh we have availability to see you next week for the resmed 11. WT! OMG 😱 Would if like the flat screen, newer components, blue tooth software updates, Auto on/off, but the down side is that the 11 doesn't have the climate tubing which in New England is needed for winters and I'm also afraid of the QC bc of the rush to get the 11 out since they ran out of the components to make the 10. Also, no one seems to know how to bypass the clinic setting on the 11. After the rental period, my insurance will pay for the rest so after the 10 month honeymoon, I plan to just keep this as a backup, should my air mini die. Who wants to deal with a water chamber every day? Right now, I rinse and use a uv light with a once a week scrub. The air mini is so effort less. Overall, I guess I lucked out to get on getting the 10? Time will tell. since my insurance will get me a new one in 3-5 years, I'll be sure to hold out for the 12 which should be significantly a better leap then the 11. It's like the difference of buying a Volvo 2016 XC 90 v the same in the 2021. All same features and technology. Until they can make the semi auto driving perfect or fully automatic, I'm keeping the 2016. The air mini is great. It already has the for her function and I've noticed that sometimes I generate enough humidity without the humid x. The first week was drying but that was bc of a poor fitting nasal cradle. The downside of the air mini is that it doesn't have any technical data that breakdown your sleep except giving you a score. I heard they are working on it, but don't hold your breath, lol. I'm begin to hear a whining sound from it. Not sure if this is normal. Can you do a review of the eXciteOSA®: Daytime Therapy for Mild Sleep Apnea And The Somnera CPAP

Hi Di, thanks for the kind words and channels support! I lot of people are buying the ResMed AirSense 10 although i'm expecting the 11 to be released in the last quarter of 2021. The main reason why I consider upgrading is the belief that the newer machines should have better algorithms for detecting apnea's and adjust accordingly. I'm not sure if that's true, it's just more based on trust of the product name for me. I've been very happy with my S10 so far. But unfortunately, due to the huge costs we "continually" pay for Resmed products here in Australia, I will have to import one again.

I’ve preferred ResMed over other brands because it was first, and invented in Australia. The chairman and CEO are Australian born. I feel it’s quite an idiotic move to bully leakers and reviewers. If Resmed continues these tactics, I’m sure I won’t be the only one to look at other brands with near identical features and function, rather than deal with corporate dickheads.

@@BlackMamba-lt8oe from my own perspective, as an outsider to Resmed’s operations and cost structure: when you factor in shipping costs from the factory to the US plus distributor and reseller margins, the price difference still seems substantial - compared to buying from their own factory door store in Bella Vista. One imagines there would have to be more to it than just the Aussie dollar, as I’m pretty sure that price difference still existed when the $A and $US were at parity. Perhaps the sheer volumes of the US market might go a long way to explaining it. If Resmed provided a reasonable/simple explanation, it would help address such negative opinions on the issue.

Seeing the "features" I don't see any reason to get the airsense 11. Ok so it has a touchscreen. But once you get the settings set. How often will you need to mess with the machine. It seems to be a pointless feature just used to sell a more expensive unit. I'm very happy with my airsense 10. It does what it needs to. My doctor can see my info and make changes, with no need to take the unit to her. As far as the climate hose, I've had no issues cleaning it with the 90° end. My opinion, there was no reason to change what works.

I know that there are a lot of people out there that manage their own settings as they can't get proper support from their Dr or the DME Company! I know that as a new CPAP user since Oct last year, I sure didn't get any support from the DME company and not much from the Dr! They keep all the "settings" a big secret!! I went in right away and changed my machine so I could at least see the details vs just the crazy little smiley faces!! How childish! I don't want to see the Smiley faces! Give me detail! I'm a retired ICU nurse so like the detail!! I really enjoy your reviews! Keep them up!

Air sense 11 vs dream station 2 ???
@jerseyreddevil3139

Some things I am interested in: noise level compared to old model; size and weight compared to the old model; size of storage bag for travel. Did they update the software to improve performance. My airsense 10 seems to take too long to reduce the pressure after I have had an apnea event. Sometimes I will wake up and turn the machine off and back on to reduce the air pressure. Looks like they still have a fairly large power converter. Wish they could have built that into the machine and saved some space and weight. I guess I will end up buying a smaller travel machine to supplement my home machine, tired of using the Airsense 10 or both home and travel. Thanks for the video.

Hey mate, every other machine on the planet is better than the DS2. Even the DS1 with the toxic foam is better. The DS2 is a piece of plastic junk and think the foam is going to degrade even worse than the DS1 over time. I won't recommend a Philips machine / product for as long as live. It would be great to have a larger tank to use at home & a smaller one to take when traveling! The other thing is I’ve has pts. before who had machines where the tank could be filled without having to totally remove it from the machine. I have the ResMed AirSense 10. I’m an RN, but I also have arthritis in my hands/wrists, & it’s sometimes a little difficult to remove the tank to fill. I can imagine someone in their 70’s/80’s, etc. would have a lot more difficulty removing it! Also, is there a way to see the screen with the total hrs. used & the two smiley faces again after it goes away? Sometimes I can’t see the numbers well enough to see the amt. of time I’ve used it clearly & need to see it again after I get my glasses! I haven’t found a way to do that. I’d like to be able to see it again clearly after I get my glasses on so if I haven’t used my CPAP long enough, I’ll know how much longer I need to wear it. I tried looking at the app on my phone, but it’s often hours later before it actually syncs up correctly. Again, the automatic sync is great, but there also should be a way to hit a button & have it automatically sync right then!

Time to get a new machine here and not sure what to do. I've only ever had an S9 and now the 10. The S9 was a great unit and the 10 has needed to go in twice for issues. But looking at the 11 there some things I'm not sure I will like. First the lack of a 90 degree bend in the hose out of the back. Where I use the machine this will make the hose shorter and I'm worried I will pull it off the table. And second the touch screen. Getting older and fat fingers can be a pain with a touch screen. Now if I get a new 10 that means it will be another 5 years before insurance will get me a new one so I have to wonder if it will be hard to get things like the filters and the tubing in another 5 years. Plus the main reason to get rid of my 10 is because it has been back to resmed twice now and needs to go again. It is working right now but not like it should. Not sure why it is messing up but I have to set the ramp to start at 15 or it will not go up. With that I worry more is going to go out as time goes on. So with all this I'm not sure what to do. Maybe my 10 is just one of those that was going to have issues and just about any other 10 would work great for year

Got a Resmed Airsense 10 yesterday. Had the same pressures, ramp, headgear and nasal pillow mask as what I used with my Dreamstation. There is a difference! The Resmed is definitely quieter but the air that comes out of the nasal pillow seems to be flowing with much greater force. I am hoping to get used to it but it took me longer to fall asleep last night. I had to keep taking deeper breaths to keep up with the airflow. Anyone else notice a difference between the 2 machines?

@CPAPReviews

Hey mate, it changes depending on what pressure the machine is running. A 100 watt hour battery should last between 8-12 hours depending on the pressure. The higher the pressure, the more draw, the less hours a battery will last. Cheers

Hey Norm, welcome to the channel and thanks for the kind words. I haven't had a chance to get one yet although i do have someone who is very kindly sending me theirs to play with for a week so i will let you know. My feeling is that it will probably be very similar to the AirSense10 with the noise. When i get my own i will take it apart and have a good look at it. Here in Australia they will retail it around $2495 i imagine, they might even try and go higher (they rarely go lower that's for sure!). That price will be for the Autoset. There's also going to be an Elite CPAP and a budget CPAP too which will be aimed at trying to take some of the marketshare from the other players at the lower end of the market. I Can see some big discounts already coming in for the AirSense 10 but mostly in the U.S markets. The Australian market is crazy expensive so they might come down to the low $1000 mark perhaps. Cheers mate. Nick
