I was planning on buying this saw today for a job this Friday. I saw this review and stopped at my local HD to check the floor model and the floor model is dripping oil! Thank you sir! I will buy the M18 version as I have feet in both systems.

Sad, everything is built poorly nowadays. If it was a 5yr old model it probably would be great. Juat make sure you keep receipts and register it for the LSA and keep a copy for your records.

So exact same issue and maybe 10 cuts in it sounds like the bearing is ready to blow. I’m on my second one now and the slightest of oil but keeping a close eye on it. I will return this one if the bearing noise happens again. I love Ridgid tools but really unfortunate when they allow this to past quality control, hurts the reputation they have been building.

@@homelandcreationsllc I actually spoke with the Milwaukee/Ridgid rep about the leaking oil issues and she said she will pass this information on. I mentioned while I was buying it referring to seeing your video and was concerned of having the same issue. I kid you not, she was at the Home Depot when I returned the unit and told her I will try again hopefully with better luck. I want this saw because of all the conveniences it brings, but only if it works that is. I’m invested in Ridgids lineup and would like to stay here, but I’m starting to reconsider if this is how things continue to go. Had a similar issue with the battery brad nailers.

Seems to be the way with these market shares. Vendors want to keep a certain product on the shelves at a certain price point. So instead of raising the price to match the quality parts, they use cheaper parts and manufacturers to keep MSRP within a desired field.

Just got mine yesterday - does not leak, BUT it might be because it's DRY already, lol. I have that sound that is like something not quite right w/ the motor gear assembly. I take the blade off and it runs smooth, so obviously the blade shows up the strain on that gearing, or bearing, or I don't know what. Bought from Home Depot. LOVE the saw otherwise - the design, I see other names on same saw, so I can't blame Rigid, but hell, they DID put their name on it. Tried to call them today but phone message put me off - they're doing something w/ ...bla blah blah......

I'm assuming yours had oil stains on the cardboard from the oil that leaked out? Or everything was dry just bad bearing sound?
@1young-geezer
2 жыл бұрын
@@homelandcreationsllc Yeah, no oil stains at all, no oil drip anywhere. Just that uneven back noise behind the motor sound, that sounded like something wasn't right, like a shitty bearing? Or what, I don't know. Will take it back to Home Depot tomorrow. But from the buzz out there, am I going to get a better machine, or like you, go through the hell of multiple returns? I'm anxious to get a good one, just sooo like this saw design. Noticed a couple of other companies selling this type model, but I have Rigid batteries, yeah right? The hook.

No WAIT. You mentioned that pice of cardboard, I just went out to look at that, and YES, there is a very controlled bit of oil in a line along the trough of that. But other than that, there is no active leaking, anywhere that I've looked. My worry is, if I return this one, that only has that screaming crackling sound behind the motor sound, will the replacement be worse????!! Hahaha. Ordered it online from Home Depot, so I'd have to order a second one I guess, and return one or both after the second one comes in, so if second is one is worse I'd maybe still keep first one, and use it til it breaks. Just no win-win here it seems.

@@hrayrohanyan4498 Quite funny actually. Mine was not leaking, but had that bearing seeming sound. Well, I used it a couple days and then the blade bound up in 2x4 cut, my fault I'm sure, BUT! - after that there was NO bearing sound (or whatever that was). So I'm holding my breath, and all is working very nicely at the moment. Yay! So I'll just register the unit and be done w/ my troubles. Hopefully for a long good life. I seriously love this saw from the lightweight to the dual angle, and such. I can fold it over and stand on end and it almost disappears in my work van. O gawd - cordless!!!

Unfortunately there isn't a fix without replacing parts. The bearing they use and the housing for the bearing is very cheap which is the problem. I now only use mine for those QUICK 1/2 dozen cut jobs or use it only to cut up scrap to put in garbage bins. Definitely not a go to big jobsite tool.

A few of the commenters have mentioned TTi. I did a quick look up on their website, and there's no mention of Rigid. If there had been, then I think I'd have left them a turd or two about their power tools boasting just for giggles. I have witnessed a few staid companies that wanted to put their well thought of products into Home Depot, and HD said that they'd have to bring the price point so far down, and when these companies did, the products of course suffered, and they lost credibility, and since then pulled out and had to resurrect their good name. So who really makes this Rigid miter saw?

The older ones and batteries operated tools are Ridgid owned by TTI aka techtronic Industries. The NEW corded saws that are branded Ridgid and are made by Delta for Ridgid Next Gen. These new saws and product line of corded tools are not owned by TTI. The saw on this post is Ridgid and owned by TTI as its battery operated.
