I’ve always wanted there to be lone survivors or crazies in the apocalypse kind of like how deadrising does it, but I definitely don’t like the curveballs where the zombies explode I think that’s ridiculous and not immersive at all

I like the idea of curveballs, it keeps the game fresh and provides some twists we all were missing from the game since launch. I think the idea of having timers for buffs and debuffs are a great idea; it's almost universal in RPG games so yes please give us timers. Also, I've been saying for years the special zombies needed buffs including the armored zombies because they were all way too easy to kill so seeing the exploding zombies and mutated bloater curveballs get me excited that I'm forced to change tactics and not just shoot on sight or stealth kill everything. Finally, the bandits are a much needed mechanic for this game. I'm very happy to see that get implemented I think the devs still have our best interest at heart and I think once we see SOD3 we'll be more than surprised!

I think they should add a feature if your survivor is out gathering resources they could be kidnapped and held for ransom for resources. You can either give the resources or fight to get them back

They should add a raid (NPCs) feature, in when sometimes they start attacking your base for resources.

They HAVE to add in being able to name characters for a new game, and perhaps giving nicknames to characters currently in your community. New dialogue and definitely a broader assortment or clothing options would keep the game fresh.

I think if survivors were able to go out and get rucksacks, or even vehicles that would be awesome. I like them being able to go out and destroy infestations, and i think they need to tone down how needy enclaves are, a lot of the time we(the players)are busy dealing with major problems in our own communities and can't deal with their issues at the moment. Or maybe have it where we can select and send a member of our community out to handle some enclave calls. These are some thoughts i have on how the game could be better, oh, and if we could even have members go out and recruit new members for the community.

Yes, exactly! Some MAJOR quality of life changes. And with sending out survivors, there can be risks depending on the tasks. For example, if you send one guy to grab a vehicle, it's a "light risk" situation. However, if you send one guy to clear out a level 3 infestation, that would be considered "high risk" so maybe you send MORE people to lower the risk. Something to make your community and the world feel more alive AS WELL AS making it so I don't actually have to do all these tedious chores over and over.

imagine the red dead redemption 2 game, it’s an open world, map is big but state of decay doesn’t have to be huge map, random houses that are loot-able, the perspective (3rd person) with great graphics and wilderness around that suits a hood state of decay game. especially with horses meaning there’s not a lot of cars or fuel, it is more realistic than having random events like explosive zombies happening in your game. i would like to see a state of decay 3 look like red dead redemption

I’m all for this update. We already know that the virus evolves, starting with black fever, blood plague, and now this. I just hope there’s some new lore in the story to explain all the changes. It would be nice to hear Tressie over the radio telling us what’s up.

Thanks for the info Sunny. I really love State of Decay 2, however. Even though I know its a survival/sim/base management game, I hope that in state of decay 3 they give us more story telling and even in game cinematics, this would make the game feel a lot more atmospheric IMO. Also I really hope they give us a similar gameplay- "Build a base and get help by others and help others with theirs" for a single player mode, but for a pure multiplayer mode, they need to add a game mode where you can colaborate with other people/friends, etc, to build a base for you and your friends and experience the same "story progress" at the same time, instead of just logging in to help a friend/stranger then leave with nothing but some rewards. A place where you can build a base together and feel the actual weight of defending it from zombies and other human raids (NPCs)

I like it. I think the timer for the curve balls should be a toggle option. I don't want to know when something good or bad is going to end. A timer IMO removes a good part of the curve to the curve ball lol. I'm all for it though.

It’s awesome they allow this to be optional! This does look interesting though. I also love the ambiance in the background. I wish they added more lol it makes the world feel more immersive. I enjoy the leader buffs too. I wish there was another one where you could have one more main home base. Maybe like a Commando/Commander leader? That would be awesome! I really like the idea of black plague hearts too. Not only does it look cool but I like the concept! One major thing I absolutely HATE about this game though... The fact I cannot disable auto climbing. I've gotten 3 survivors killed because they just volunteer to leap to their death by climbing and leaping off of a huge billboard or a cell tower without prompting. I seriously hope State of Decay 3 doesn't have auto climbing. It's so frustrating I'm willing to download a mod or add a script myself to disable auto climbing. Yes it is that frustrating.

Similar to Xcom 2, maybe certain survivors can form bonds and provide unique traits and perks, both in base and out there when scavenging. Should one of them dies, not only does it drop morale greatly. But it will cause the bonded survivor to the killed one to be unavailable for a time as they need to grieve longer.

Knowing makes it easier. Example: When I was a PVT doing a 10 mile run no problem. Doing a 10 mile run when you thought it was a 5 mile or when you don't know the end point rough.

I asked the same question. What is the point of the update. They could have created or improved some missions, added new ones or improved the functionality of the outposts. I don't know... ...sometimes I think they're wasting time on things the players didn't ask for and ignoring what we really want.

I really like variety and randomness in games. Keeps things fresh so this is the perfect update for me. As long as it improves hostile interactions this could be the best update in a long time.

One thing I would love before sod3 would be a update dlc thing to where we could make our own survivors in sod2 as like a finale farewell to it as like the very final update so we could have endless possibilities with it and also maybe a creative mode as well if we all just wanted to fool around with the world they have left us

nice so its not just a skele crew on sod2 anymore they have at least a small team of dedicated devs on it. im guessing that undead labs is still in charge of what wushu does to the game but now sod2 has the resources to make massive updates more frequently

No no no no!!! No forced timers of any kind! Everything in the game should be randomized! The fam and I just started deep diving into this game and the timers are almost as infuriating as constantly getting trapped and stuck by NPC's! You should always faze through friendlies! It's 2023! We've known this stuff for more than a decade! Please get away from the old arcade gimmicks and move more toward an unpredictable zombie survival experience!

Glad this can be turned off. Id say develop a new map, city like. I like the free roaming raider idea. Oppose to plague have a sort of a infection outbreak along the game. Develop new mods, freestyle like base slots to build whatever wherever. Put in new traits(animal facts, are you kidding me?) Change the sound of zombies, eliminate the attack of zombies "scratching" you(like wtf?) More biting, more grappling interaction, make objects move freely(cant hit a lawnmower but I can knock a fence down with a heavy weapon??) new weapons, avoid outposts, be self sufficent by expanding the base slots, btw, why is it we need influence to move in a base? Are we putting down payment on a mortgage just to survive? 😂 eliminate influence and just focus on trade or favors to gain trust.

Nice update Sunny. I'm an xbox guy who just doesn't seem to want to pay for the game again to play the ptr on steam. Always found your vids insightful. POSITIVE: Love the new dynamics and I'll absolutely keep the curveball feature(s) on all the time - unless I'm trying to make a specific video on something. Especially with the hostile enclaves, I think it brings a lot more realism to the game. NEGATIVE: This is where I thought you were going when you said, 'where's the point.' I kinda mentioned this back when update 33 came out. My question was more focused on the update in relation to the mythical SOD 3. How do these updates tie in? Are they merely to test SOD 3 mechanics out on their wide servers? Are they to keep the audience invested as you suggest? Are these features not necessarily being tested wide, but part of a SOD 3 lite? I'm not sure what to make about the SOD 3 devs having an unclear role in this and possibly future updates given the timeline you rightfully suggest of 2025. Guess we just have to wait for the next piece of the puzzle and see what how it fits. Thanks for the update.

Really wish they leave SOD2 alone and focus on 3. They ruined the game for me with update33. Stopped playing after that. Tried to give the update a chance but it was so annoying. It wasnt hard just tedious cause you had to constantly go after infestations.

I just feel like there needs to be more story or some lore. The gameplay is already super fun but the world gets a bit repetitive. Enclave wants rucks, enclave wants to move, enclave wants you to go here and do this.

Id say fix the sieges, they dont attack your base until the screamer is taken out. Also random zombie spawns or late spawns are bad land mines for us, had a horde of bloaters appear in my base, killed my RT member

Random events, curveballs, or anythin g that brings surprises in a game are always welcome. it gets boring quickly when you wash,rinse,repeat without anything special happening. in most open world games, we're usually always in relative control on what we do. having events that removes that control from us once in a while is also a very interesting feature to have or add. i.e. in days gone, when you get ambushed by some enemy survivors (although they are way too easy to beat), is the type of surprises that is fun. playing it the game on a hard mode could also remove the announcements that curveballs are on, and simply surprise you while you're playing.

I think its just a "better" side quests that can offer better rewards or larger influence? I mean the "random" or "mysterious random" quests from strangers be it normal, red talon or network quests are lame. They offer less experience and good loots in the end. Maybe this is their fix while adding some spice? This is just my opinion.

I want genuine improvements to the game, not gimmicky stuff for the sake of difficulty. Zombies will explode if you melee them? Why? What's the point of that? I've loved state of decay since day one but this game's updates don't do a thing for me. I used to be excited for SoD3, but now it's a big fat meh.

Nice summary Sunny! For me, I think I prefer curveballs that affect the zombies and freaks properties (faster, stronger, better senses) rather than exploding effects which feel a little bit arcade-like. I like the idea of an end-game style Curveball - or Increasing Threat Curveballs that grow over time...such as after Day 50 or something, gives Juggs and Ferals a small % chance that they will attack you with a one shot execute irrespective of health. Like good old SOD1 - But I bet I am the only one in the world who thinks that sounds like "fun" 🤣

I’d like a curveball that can happen only once on a map where a survivor on the verge of leaving your community leaves and takes two others to form a hostile community. On top of that they could take 3 rucksacks with them and you need to defeat the community to get the resources back. Also maybe you could take out the leader and cause them to surrender and after that you can decide to let them back in, leave them be or execute them as traitors.

So why make a purple boomer zombie? Raiders would make an interesting twist to the game, I mean you could delve a bit more into getting bigger bases or general map increase. Maybe release a dozen new survivors/skins? I mean you could make the situation on meeting lily Ritter and the crew and helping them in a new senario. Their are a millions things you could do without causing major changes to the playability

I would love to see relationships in SOD2, this could add even more depth and value into characters with some being friendships, romance, and brotherhood/sisterhood. The same could be done for characters outside of the players community with some characters growing attached to the player characters. It would also be nice to have relationships vice versa, like being enemies, rivals, or just straight up hatred for one and another that could effect certain stats as well.

I like this cause it makes the general gameplay change. I’ve never been fussed about finishing the game. To me finishing the game is becoming stable and safe. Having this makes that last longer and more chaotic. Actual raiders and mutations I find so cool

Sou brasileiro e gosto demais do State os decay, e fico muito animado pelo carinho que os desenvolvedores tem por sua criação. Minha sugestão seria para ter mais aprofundamento nos enclaves, seja enclaves inimigos ou aliados, pois acaba sendo bem irrelevante um enclave se tornar hostil, pois eles definitivamente não vão oferecer perigo algum. Também seria legal adicionar ncps humanos espalhados pelos mapas, e sendo aleatório se esse npc seria amigável ou não. Acho que estão focando muito en dificuldade, mas acho que todos os jogadores aprovariam ter atualizações focadas na imersão do jogo, algo que te prenda naquele mundo, um jogo de sobrevivência é fundamental ter aprofundamento, imersão e claro, dificuldade.

6:00 I mean you gotta realize curveballs aren’t meant to be taken advantage of. There meant to add a more chaotic atmosphere for the players who don’t play seriously. So having a timer that helps you take advantage of it would be more counterproductive for something like this.

I like this mechanic but I don't like that it have to announce it self when it's going to be applied I think it is gonna be more thrilling if they suddenly apply without any notice Or just apply everything at the same time and you'll just bump with them occasionally I think it will add more diversity to the game play For example like the mission to hunt down juggernaut You bring just one round of ammo only end up meeting that purple juggernaut Suddenly something that in your mind will be an easy task become live and death situation Now that's what you call curve ball To balance it out maybe don't give any curve ball to green and standard difficulty or just the a not big of a deal curve ball there In short sod2 already have many diverse mission so adding more mission sensation like what the current curve ball do are boring for me What will be great is not giving notification of what curve ball will be applied instead just release all the curve ball into the wild and let us encounter with it occasionally will be great cause it gives more diversity on the game play instead more missions

I wish the devs add more survivors on the "saved" Pool. I want more survivors there and another community as i like to have a sixth community and more people (maybe add 20 more on the pool or like cap to 100 because its fun collecting specific weapons and items)

Curveballs aren't what is holding SOTD back, we need a proper multiplayer and or co op multiplayer, as in if you regularly play with friends on steam or other platforms and programs, you should be able to make a world and invite your friends into that world and play it from start to end together, get rid of as much lag as humanly possible and increase total people in community maximum to like 25 or something and add an end game goal, like kill all zombies, or find the cure or escape or all 3

The struggle with a game like SoD2 is the game gets easier as you move forward. It's both a reward and a curse. With each new upgrade you get and every new gun you find, it gets easier to overcome obstacles, which is normally a good thing. But you will inevitably reach a point where your community is so well established it feels like the game world is just sitting there because it doesn't really have anything it can throw against you anymore. It becomes boring. Like, you've got only 10 survivors. You don't need 50 guns in the locker. So you can easily afford to turn them into parts, but you've already got 9000+ parts. These changes are steps in the right direction. Up until update 33, SoD never really felt like it was "fighting back." Update 34's additional changes will give the zombies more "bite," pun intended. But yeah, an endgame difficulty challenge spike of some kind is what the game really needs to make collecting all those guns and building all that C4 worth it in the end. Whatever it is, it has to get players to burn through a lot of their resources real fast. SoD2 is in sore need of some new maps too. As cool as update 33 was, the old maps have all become stale.

oooooh.... this is a game changer for melee! especially for Swordplay, which is likely what they had in mind (if used right, its overpowered)... a zombie you must avoid killing in melee? that puts a wrinkle in my slaughtering plans lol FINALLY A CHALLENGE! i'm an expert with swordplay; there are very very few situations i can't handle it.

Im surprised to say i love the new curveball mechanic. I didnt initially think i would. I’m also glad theres no timer to tell me how much longer the events will last. Like the devs said its more exciting and immersive this way.

Ha... what would be really nice is that if you are playing on "lethal" you will not get a notice that a curveball will drop on you, only when it is over. That would be fun and quite hard. The most players now are playing on lethal I assume, after so much time into the game. I do it quite a while now. And a really fun curveball would be that a hostile enclave would bring the fight to YOU, meaning they would attack your base, and would drive cars in the streets, thus raming you or run you over while you're on foot... lol... ahhh... I would love to have street fights with hostile enclave members, you know, they lure on the streets or on a roof to make a suprise attack. That would be a fun curveball, but also extremly hard, thus only available on "lethal". Maybe we will get that in SOD 3, it would be just dope.

I don‘t know it‘s bc of this update or not, but on one of my member the camera turned upside down. I closed the game and tried to start again, but the game crashes everytime I load the save. Does anyone has the same problem? (I‘m on Xbox Series S).

They should let us put some of our Survivors at the out post like 2 or 3 or so like how we have allie’s and it can increase the max amount of survivors we can have.

Starting to see rare new zombies pop in mostly at night, too bad they cannot be converted back to human and at least put in your que or added to your team. I would hang around but the exit is near for this game.

Raiders and other community dangers really would add to the game. It would feel you are properly competing in a map to survive

They need to balance human survivors it feels unrealistic they can end you in a single bullet while you empty an entire clip on them

Too busy messing with curve balls all the time cant get to the main missions. I like the concept but they need to be further apart.

I dont know whats going on but the spawning has gotten out of control, i cant stop my car ANYWHERE with out ferrals and hords popping up right next to me, if its not that its them just knowing where i am for no reason.its gotten to the point when it happens a few times in a row i just shut the game off.

really wish undead labs would fix some of the bugs in this game like zombie spawning out if no where and hordes of zombie being invisible untill your like right in front of them instand of making update like this that make a already annoying game that much more annoying

En mi opinión estaria interesante que hagan un modo multijugador en el que podamos luchar o aliarnos con mas jugadores en un mapa un pocp más extrnso y que añaden mas cosas aleatorias al mapa hablando generalmente

I know my question is not about curveballs but I'm not sure where else to ask. Why do several of my female survives has bizarre nicknames? None of my male characters do, just the females. Examples are Deathwish, and Shuteye. There are several more but thats all I can remember at this time. I have four different survivor groups and they all have examples of these, in my opinion, dumb names. Has this ever been addressed by the devs? Do we know why they did this?

@@SunnyGamesYT Thank you for responding. Sure, I get that its random generation using a large table of available names. What I want to know is why they have what seems to be a large number on non name, nicknames, for females only. All my male characters have normal names but the females have normal names and non names. The whole problem could be a moot point if we could rename them.
