The iconic chalk figure of the Long Man of Wilmington, proudly etched into the South Downs landscape, is now back to its gleaming white having received a fresh lick of paint.
A team of volunteers came together from The Sussex Archaeological Society to help restore the Long Man to his former glory. Armed with paintbrushes, they bravely scaled the steep slopes to apply a fresh coat of paint to the blocks outlining this historically significant landmark. Notably, the Long Man had last received a fresh coat of paint in 2020.
This magnificent depiction of the human form stands as Europe's largest, with origins dating back to at least 1710.
