@toontumnetwork Careful how you shake your head. You might develop a constant migraine. When I first heard your podcast, I immediately recognised your mission and intended goal. A 7-10 minute clip can never ignite any kind of proffered solution in the mind of the average listener. It only comes across to a lot of people as a short clip. If you are truly trying to profer solutions, you should be willing to engage the mind. The human mind is an intricate muscle. One that needs to be awakened through constant engagement that would genly massage their thought process. Especially when they are numb or indifferent to the ability of their rights or powers. The engagement does not need to be one dimensional. Change. There is only one time when a real change is achieved. That is when the foundation and structure are redesigned. The others are nothing but a reshuffle when the foundation and structure remain the same. People. There are four types of people in Africa. Those that want a change, those that don't want a change, and those that talk about change, and those that are indifferent and have accepted their faith. In Western countries, there are 6 types of people. Those who want a change, those who make sure that change is achieved. Those who don't want change and those who make sure that change is never achieved. Those who stand and watch changes taking place and those who come after the change have occurred to ask what happened. Leaders. There are two types of leaders. Those who really want a change and go after the structural foundation and institutions to achieve change. Examples would be Martin Luther King, Thomas Sankara, Kwame Nkrumah, Sylvanus Olympio, and many more. Leaders like these are always assassinated because they stand in the way of people who are exploiting the system. The other type of leaders are the propagandists. The political gladiators, who come just for their own gains and are working for the system and the imperialist. Finally, the solutions you are proffering should be engaging to a lot of people, to enlighten them that a foundation and structural change is needed, and awaken their subconscious minds to let them know that they have to fight for their rights. Freedom is never free.

It is a mindset issue first and foremost. Many Nigerians think every thing foreign is better than their own. I have known Nigerians who would rather go to Yemen, or libya(war torn states) than stay . There where many who were intent on going to Ukraine I know of. The view of their country is very very negative, this is not to say that life in the country is easy it is not or it does not have problems because it really does. But it is Indians and Lebanese who come to the same country and make millions while many indigenes simply see a country without hope. The Chinese have a word for crisis and the same word also means opportunity like I say it is a mindset.

Well said my brother. However, speaking truth to some Nigerians is like pouring water on the back of a duck. They are very articulative when justifying their reasons for not confronting their political leaders and make them account for the mess they are causing in that beautiful country. As a South African, when we try tell them that they have a better chance of building a successful African economy 5 times better than South Africa in Nigeria, we are told we are xenophobic, lazy or (my favorite) we are jealous because they are better lovers than we are because they get our women and they shower them with buckets loads of money. I fully agree with you when you say Nigerians have the highest number of migrating professionals in the entire African continent. Their professionals are in almost every developed country in the entire world. Here in South Africa they are the backbone of our health system. You cannot go to any hospital and don't find a Nigerian or Ghanaian Doctor. This is not due to lack of South African Doctors but purely because South Africans choose to work in urban areas more than rural areas. I live in a small rural town of Lusikisiki and guess what; the most popular doctor in the local hospital I hear people talk about when it comes to dealing with certain illnesses is a Nigerian guy. Don't keep quiet. Keep on reminding them how powerful they are until they come to their senses and and put material touches to a country they have started building with their minds and intelligence.

You made some valid points. However, Nigeria is too big to have a total brain drain in the medical field. This past weekend, about 100 medical doctors just graduated from the University of Ilorin, Kwara State. That is how Nigeria produces graduates every now and then. I know experience counts, however, most Nigerians are relocating back to Nigeria to set up medical offices and like. Some doctors do medical exchange programs, as well. Same goes for other practices. I live in the US for close to 25 years. I am in the process of transitioning back to Nigeria to set up a business (abroad is not easy at all, just note that). Remember, when these people japa, they export our culture and everything with them (one of the reasons why Afrobeats is doing well abroad). So it's a win-win situation.

I was the last person who played the devil's advocate in reminding you that you advocated for Tinubu. This topic is very intricate. It is intricate in the sense that the more you look, the less you see. The more you look at the problem, the less you see the devil or the enemy. Nigeria and West African countries failing has been a deliberate act by the Europe and the West. And our freedom fighters who fought for our independence did not really understand the dynamics of governance. They did not understand the intricases involved in the sustenance and survival of a nation. Their ideas were based on the theoretical knowledge that the white man taught them. So when a leader who starts to understand their games and politics and starts to play it back to them, the person is assassinated. For example, Nkrumah, Lumumba, Olympio, Sankara, and many more. Their goal is to make sure that African economies remain weak and poor so they can continue to exploit its people and resources. The weaker an African country is, the cheaper her resources would be to them. That is why they always want us to devalue our currency when we go and borrow money. But they don't preach the same doctrine to their own people when they go to the same institutions to borrow money. Unfortunately, our leaders in an effort of maintaining their elitist privilege over the masses they agree to whatever the western nations propose. What they do not know is that, the day is coming when things would fall apart and the center would no longer hold. Then they will realise that they have created monsters. The most dangerous man to fear is a man or person should has nothing to lose. That is what the Nigerian masses are turning into. I sure would be glad to fight in that kind of war.

I was happy for them, but was really pissed that the government and people in authority didn't see it fit to counter that offer. Financially, the country is buoyant to fend for her best with a better offer, but it will never happen. We as educators keep on building our human capital while others keep on harvesting the best of our investments because we are not willing to protect what's not important to us. The Nigerian governments and some of its people are not serious about changing their mindset. With our current political class, Nigeria is on a stunted growth. The truth is the only pill we must swallow to eliminate this infection we have been suffering from. We as a people cannot continue repeating the same mistakes while expecting a different result.

We really have no problems with our best going abroad to experience the best global practice in their professions. But going, never to return is a bad thing, just as it was during colonial era. If they say our chiefs sold them then, now they're selling themselves in to slavery. I've been encouraging those I know abroad to come home and establish something with the wealth and experiences they have aquired abroad. It is the hard path but the best one.

My brother, harsh realities occasioned by mismanagement of our government and economic systems is to blame. Western countries are exploiting the situation. They did not create it. On the other hand, it is a blessing in disguise. Indian professionals were once scattered around the world owing from the same problem. They are the same people who returned to help in the development of their country. Of course, we must resolve our democracy and government quickly. It will happen. The great thing about Nigerians is that we have a lot of faith. Most Nigerians love their country and will seize any opportunity to contribute to its growth given the nearest minimum enabling environment. Governments at all levels in Nigeria are striving harder in infrastructure development. In the next 3 years, a new Nigeria would have emerged. It's not just Lagos, Abuja, and Port Harcourt. In the southeast, Aba and Enugu are making a strong comeback, Awka is emerging. Ogun state in the southwest is becoming an industrial powerhouse. The auto industry in Nigeria is emerging. Many states in the North are also doing well. Despite all the rot, Nigeria will shortly become a superpower.

In Africa, the most educated countries Nigeria is not in the top ten. And this is based on the most number of population in the country that are educated. But when it comes to outside africa, the most educated african migrates are the Nigerians due to their population out there. Because their population outside there is far more than the population in every country in africa. It doesnot mean they are intelligent than any country try or clearer than the other countries. You people should understand the rating. Even in africa the most intelligent country with an ration of IQ, Nigeria is not list among g the top ten. But the brag they are the cleaver and intelligent than any one. Even in west africa, report says in the west africa examinations, their neighbour Gh that all the tops with the most number of student that have the most passes, even though Nigeria has the most number of candidates the writes in exams. There are other countries that holds bigger positions in Europe and other places, but u don't get to hear of them or their country people do not brag with it. The reason we know if Nigerian own is because Nigerians brags with theirs because they always want to considered better than others and ve respected when they notice they are not getting thar.

If Nigerians are indeed great as they want us to believe, their greatness will mean nothing until they learn the power of collectivism. Nigerians are the personification of the "self-centered" Maslow's Pyramid of Needs. Myrmecology studies (Entomology of ants) should be made compulsory in Nigeria, from elementary school, otherwise, there will be no Nigeria to talk of tomorrow.

HMMMM! PLEASE HEAR THIS. Dearly beloved African Brother Cyrus, thanks a million for your concern about Nigeria. You have done well and some of us truly appreciate it To be honest with you, what you said is true. However, but not absolute truth. Please follow me. The real problem of Nigeria is foundational and it is due to bad leadership. How did Nigeria and Africa come to this level? How did we breed bad leadership across Africa? It all started with our so-called independence. The Colonial Masters gave us Political Independence and NOT Economic Independence. The political independence is deliberate with an INDIRECT RULE. The colonialists that developed into Western Nations vowed never to allow Africa to Industrialised. They said, Industrialization is the only way to develop Africa. But if they allow Africa to industrialized, it will affect the economy of the West. How? Because everything they used to develop Europe in particular are gotten from Africa. So their economic model and policies is to industrialized Europe and make Africa the dumping ground to consume what they produce. So, bringing the brightest and best from Africa is a strategic plan to sustain their industries and economy. Therefore, they will do everything possible to stop Africa from Industrialization. That is what brought us to this level. I am talking from a direct experience having worked as an Expert on an international project. I was young then but naive. I was after the USD gain they wanted to pay me. It was later that I knew that we were all used to get information they use to formulate their foreign policies to continue to CAGE Nigeria and Africa. They later came up with all kinds of retrogressive policies for Africa just to CAGE Africa. These policies breed bad leaders with VESTED INTERESTS. Now what is VESTED INTERESTS? Vested Interest is PERSONAL INTEREST enveloped with REGIONAL INTEREST and wrapped with FOREIGN INTEREST. For example, OIL THEFT in Nigeria. Who are the people carrying it out? They are Nigerians. Where do they come from majorly in Nigeria? From a region they found useful and ready to submit to them. Who bought the stolen crude oil? The same Western nations. That is why they killed all our three refineries. This VESTED interest now gave birth to corruption, heavy corruption. They raised bad leaders directly and indirectly who are selfish, using their region or tribe to corner national resources for themselves with the strong support of the West who also fight for their foreign interests in Nigeria. Now, Nigeria as a case study. The West, used the minority from the NW as their face in Nigeria, who took control of Nigeria and her resources effective 1990 after the ORKAR COUP. The ORKAR COUP was successful but made a big error by announcing that some states from the North have been cut off from Nigeria. Unknown to the coup plotters, these are the states the West were using to subjugate and suppress Nigeria. Their tribesmen in the military fought back and overpowered the coup plotters. So after the successful counter coup, Nigeria took a new turn as so many policies started surfacing, such as Federal Character, Quota System, Less Disadvantage States, etc. In the long run, VESTED INTEREST completely replaced NATIONAL INTERESTS. Some individuals from the North took over CBN, NNPC, CUSTOMS, PORTS, MILITARY, POLICE, MDAs, just to protect and preserve their interests in Nigeria. From that point, our politicians started struggling for what is called NATIONAL CAKE. They turned Abuja to "National Cafeteria" where national cakes are being served. They know that projects are just mere avenue to siphon money. As a result, every politician now use their TRIBE and RELIGION to negotiate for political positions. That is why corruption is a citizen in Nigeria because every tribe protect their corrupt politicians. If a new government begin to prosecute corrupt politicians today, it is the people that will term it PERSECUTION and they will fight to protect them. A case of former Kogi State Governor is still fresh in our memory now. Now, going forward, for Nigeria to develop as expected, overcome our challenges over time and turn brain drain into brain gain, we must do everything possible to replace VESTED INTEREST with NATIONAL INTEREST which bond us together as a united country. And the process of replacing VESTED INTEREST with NATIONAL INTEREST starts with serious REFORMATION in government structures and constitution. Some reforms must be carried out in our nation and finally we must restructure the nation purely for economic development purposes. When all these are carried out religiously, those who JAPA will surely JAPADA. Presently, they are on loan to the Western nations. Now, to the efforts of the current government. A lot of reforms is being carried out. Just some few days ago, FOUR BILLS were submitted to th national assembly for passage. This is to legalize the TAXES AND FISCAL REFORMS in Nigeria. Mainly to block leakages, stop wastages, strengthen our capacity to generate and appropriate resources and deepen our democracy. The new CBN is also carrying out MONETARY POLICY REFORMS and a lot of underground work is ongoing. What is going on quietly is economic restructuring of Nigeria which will later translate to political restructuring that will be enshrined and give back to a new constitution. Very soon, NATIONAL YOUTH CONFERENCE will be constituted. Personally, I love this dimension. This govt is focusing on the youth to determine their future. This is a great departure from the past where those who ruled and ruined Nigeria will pack themselves in Abuja to determine the future of Nigeria. This is no more. The Youth will determine how the Nigeria future should look like going forward. There are so many working paper on the ground including RENEWED HOPE MANIFESTO OF MR. PRESIDENT. These documents with the input of the Youth will then be taken to the National Assembly as a bill to move Nigeria forward. Aside this, regional economic development is gradually taking shape for the real deal. SE, NE, NW and just recently SW Development commission have joined the long existing SS development commission with the name NDDC. All regions will have their economic development commission. All this is gradually working towards a stable restructuring to build ONE NIGERIA that all Nigerians will be proud of. My dear brother, Cyrus, when we eventually replace VESTED INTEREST with NATIONAL INTEREST, and carry out both economic and political restructuring successfully, those who JAPA will surely and certainly JAPADA. Let them go for now please to go acquire more skills and knowledge required to build a new nation. Look, it is a blessing in disguise for us. Mind you, it is not that easy over there too. Many are finding things extremely difficult. All those who JAPA are now realising it now. More terrible things will happen in those nations they are running to and they will have no choice than to come back home. They will soon JAPADA. It's a matter of time. Nigeria shall surely be great again. Nobody can stop it. Just watch out. May Nigeria Succeed

Let's think about it for a bit. Why do we need law enforcers? It is because people don't obey laws that inconvenience them, so the job of the law enforcer is to constitute a greater inconvenience to transgressors than the law forcing the people to obey. Simple right? The issue is the law enforcers are also people and will tend not to enforce any law that inconveniences them to enforce. We can't have enforcers for enforcers so we use a different strategy. The law enforcement mechanism needs to be structured such that their very survival depends on enforcement of the mandate. Failure to understand this is why West Africa is lawless. We have governments that make money without having to meet their job requirements. Here is the first step to fixing Nigeria by structuring local government's differently. Allocation money is not necessary for Nigeria's local government councils to excel at their jobs, instead it poisons local governance by attracting people who just want to eat the money and will ignore the mandate. This is one of those situations where less is more. If we abolish it we would've solved up to 40% of our economic problems in one move. Abolish local government allocations and increase the local governments' share of business related local taxes. What this simply does is that it forces local governance to do its job or die and the result is a guarantee that the job will get done. simple. Educate Nigerians on this.
