It's brilliant that you've done that. I'm a Liverpool supporter, who lives just a few miles away from Marine's ground & have been there to watch them many times. I was reading about this only last week and it said that after the Marine game (which is still their biggest crowd ever), the supporters ran onto the pitch & carried the Nigerian players & staff around on their shoulders in celebration. Magical. The Beautiful Game indeed. :-)

@@euniceawosika3416 Yes it was & I think that more people should know about all of this. I'm intending to write an article about this, for a Liverpool FC supporter's forum & I'd be really grateful, if you knew of anywhere that I could find some more information on this (knowing the player's names is brilliant). I've found a few bits of information online, but just the basics really. Do you know of somewhere that I can read up on this a bit more & possibly find out more details about who was involved...?? Thanks.

This was recorded by the British Colonial Film Unit as part of a public education and awareness ( a.k.a propaganda) about colonial achievements. Most of the colonial films are being restored and made public for the first time.

We have to give Britain its credit! While they still wear the toga of "colonial masters" , it is interesting to see Nigerians in England playing white football teams! In America, at the same time of this match, sports was still strictly segregated!

@@quincyileh3250 Well, if you understand that Britain itself was brutally crushed and colonised by the Romans for a total of 367 years, which by far superseded their colonisation of Nigeria for about 95 years, one should put certain things into perspective!
