There was no way I could end my first full day in Tobago with anything other than street food at night! Come with me as I go on a nighttime street food tour of Crown Point, Tobago!
My good friend Chef Jason Peru would be joining me on this tour of the Crown Point Food Strip! The shops and vendors here sell everything from pizza to Middle Eastern to burgers.

We started at Pepe’s Pizza, which is a popular pizza spot here. There, we got a small pizza with pepperoni, bacon, sausage, and pineapple. It was like half Hawaiian and half meat-lovers!
After 5 minutes, our pizza was ready! It looked so crispy and tropical and had a nice, thin crust. I had to add some red pepper flakes to add some heat. I loved the crust and the mozzarella cheese, and the tropical element from the pineapple. The meat was amazing, too!
The dough was fantastic! I also liked that the pizza cooled off fast and didn’t scorch my mouth! Then, we watched the cooks there build another pizza.
Next door was a place called Skewers, which sells gyros. They used a mix of lamb and beef and also add lettuce, tomato, garlic sauce, cheese, pineapple, and mushroom to the pita.
I ordered a mixed lamb and beef. I love shawarma, so this is my jam! This is such a common street food in places like Lebanon and Oman, which I had just visited earlier in the year.
It was like a tropical, spicy, and exotic shawarma. I’d never had one like it! It was affordable at 40 TTD and used fresh meats and vegetables. The caramelized mushrooms were nice, as was the garlic sauce.
Next, we hopped back in the car and drove past some bars and found Wings Bar, which sells chicken wings! They have 17 varieties, including the Local/Tropical with tamarind, pineapple, and sorrel, and Tipsy Wings (Evan williams hiney BBQ, Jack Daniels BBQ).
We went with the Local/Tropical. The sorrel almost looked like tamarind or pomegranate. They cooked the wings in the purple sauce. These would be sweet and tart!
We let them sit for five minutes to cool off. The sauce was so sweet and flavorful! There were cloves, cinammon, nutmeg, and vinegar in it. The breading was also really nice. They were also super fresh and tender, and some of the best chicken wings I’ve ever eaten!
What an awesome way to end our night in Crown Point!
