Noolukettu, or 28 kettu, is a ceremony in Kerala, India, where a black thread and gold chain, called an aranjanam, are tied around a baby's waist on the 28th day after birth. In some parts of the state, the ceremony is performed on the 27th day for baby boys. The word noolukettu translates to "tying thread".
