Interesting video, which mirrors my experience this year. I turned 70 this year, however through fasting and reading `dr Sinclairs book, plus watching other scientists, I am taking NMN, Resveratrol, VitaminD, Zinc, plus Fisetin and broccoli/sprout extract. I am a little heavier than I was at 18 primarily because of the muscle I have put on. I have noticed incredible improvements mainly physically. My resting heart rate is between 53 and 56....I outpaced my grandson of 15, on a walk up the castle. One of my gym buddies (45) simply screamed at me to slow down on a bike ride. I have literally not felt this good in years. What ever age you are, this stuff really works. Next step is to do the biological age test, most people put me at late 50’s...Oh I weigh under 80KG, but curl 20KG each arm......

This is just a personal opinion but I feel the lower my resting heart rate the better. A couple of years ago my heart rate was consistently around 53 beats per minute whereas now it is 57 beats per minute which is of some concern to me as I've been on a ketogenic diet for around 2 years and also so take lots of vitamins and minerals now. I am 64 and play a lot of Table tennis however not as much as 2 years ago. Incidentally my average steps has decreased from 138,000/week to 88,000/week. I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on your increase in heart rate?

Hi Richard, I'm enjoying following your journey and what this all does for you and your wife. I've just started this journey as well with my wife. We are both at about your age, slightly younger. You both seem to be doing well regardless of anything. A quick question on your bio, curious to know how tall you are (if you don't mind me asking)? because 68kg (let alone 63kg) is quite low for me I think at 5'10". I haven't got any fancy bio-equipment for the measurements except a scale that hooks into an app that tells me BMI / Fat / Muscle and of course weight - not sure how accurate it is. I am currently BMI 27.2, weight 89.1kg - a fair way to go, but I've come down from 94kg so far into this regime. Also, just a suggestion if you could perhaps post detail of your dosages and other habits that focus on the regime for a longer healthier life? Because I was also wondering if you take supplements and other drugs such as sulfuraphane and metformin/berberin, and whether you did any fasting as well?
@ModernHealthspan

Hi Raymond, thanks for your detailed comments and questions. Great to hear that you and your wife are following a similar journey. Wish you good luck! I am 5'7" so a bit shorter than you. We also depend a home scale to tell us key metrics. At 63kg I am about 19% fat and my target is to get it down another percent or so. I certainly don't feel under nourished! We currently don't take these supplements at the moment but are considering both sulfuraphane and metformin. I do intermittent fasting and we are planning a video on lifestyle protocols later.

Iam worried about one thing..... what if taking nmn daily is not such a good idea because our bodies might get used to it and like with for example antioxidants our bodies can become lazy and also this can damage our own internal antioxidant system from working properly and as a result causing a rapid decline after stopping the supplement..... maybe nmn should be pulsed as well to prevent the body to become too dependent on it or maybe even after some time require higher dosages to maintain the bebefits? .... This is true of so many medications and supplements that I just wonder about the long term effects of daily nmn supplementation...... whether it can cause more damage than benefit IF we overdo it...... too much of a good thing is not always a good thing. Actually as regards to antioxidants they can be trully damaging to our health if taken daily over a long period of time and there is research showing this especially the fat-soluble antioxidants that cannot be eliminated fast like the water soluble antioxidants. It was also found that if younger people take them it is more damaging to health than if old people over 70 start taking them because their internal antioxidant system has weakened naturally too much by that age but for young people antioxidants taken daily can shorten their lifespan.

Fantastic to see the consistent epigenetic enhancement results for both you and your wife over the first 6mth period. I have been taking NMN for over a year at similar levels and certainly feel substantially improved and younger, but without having done a test before don't have this basis of comparison. It's really valuable for the wider longevity community to see thorough, diligently reported results of this nature while we await NMN human clinical trial results. My only suggestion is you look to also add in Berberine to control your blood glucose levels as this will activate AMPK and suppress the mTOR pathway with higher regularity, thus assisting the body in carrying out mitochondrial and DNA repair. Well done, looking forwards to the 12mth update later in the year!

Please start sublingual NMN. Sublingual graft allows it to be released into the bloodstream immediately. Due to this, it is much less neutralized by the liver. Sublingual NMN intake increases its absorption by 3-10 times compared to oral administration.

Great news, looks like it’s working! One thing though, your muscle mass percentage looks far too high, I would expect to see it between 30-35%, especially with the fat percentage you have (mine is currently 24% and my muscle mass % is around 32-33%). Some of the health benefits you’ve described (as opposed to anti-ageing) however can also be gotten from intermittent fasting alone, so I wonder how much of an effect is the NMN vs the IF? It’s good news that things are working for you though, and I am 100% supportive of NNN/NR/Niacin supplementation

Hi , thanks for your comment. I have a new scale and it says that my muscle % is around 43%, but I think that the different scales use different, ways to measure muscle mass so I am not sure whether they can be directly compared. I certainly think that IF and NMN work well together, as Dr. Sinclair says, taking NMN and resvertrol does not mean you can sit on a couch all day!

@Modern Healthy HK Yes, since posting my comment, I have had another measurement on the David LLoyd Boditrax and it gives a different value again. I use an Omron body composition monitor at home which I believe measures skeletal muscle only, which might also explain part of the difference

If you snore and have in the past felt the need to nap during the day, you may want to do a sleep test for Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA). This is an under diagnosed and potentially lethal condition which can be corrected without surgery. Disclaimer - I am not a physician but one who has benefited from the diagnosis of OSA.

Thanks for the information. I will be following your updates. I also intend to start using pro-health according to your recommendation. As for resveratrol, I will not buy it. Instead I will make my own by boiling in 100% alcohol crushed grape seeds taken from my local wine distillery and drinking the concentrated extract. It should be enjoyable too (resveratrol brandy). i will try not to to get drunk on it. By the way, can we use olive oil instead of resveratrol?

Hi Yitzhill, thanks for your comment. your alternative method of getting resveratrol seems very interesting and living next to a winery sounds great. I guess I you are not taking it first thing in the morning on an empty stomach! Certainly according to what Dr. Sinclair said on Rich Roll's podcast and his tweets, olive oil (oleic acid) would work as an alternative to resveratrol. However it has not been studied as mush as resveratrol and I wouldn't know what dosage would be appropriate.

Are you taking NMN while fasting? Doesn't NMN need to be taken w/fat, which would break a fast? I normally stop NMN while fasting for these reasons, but I still question it. [Later] I just heard the part where you said that you take NMN with water - this seems suboptimal for absorption per Sinclair, but would allow you to take NMN during fasting. Do you only take with water, or with fat when not fasting? [Later still] I see you've been exploring sublingual for the last 3 months, which would avoid the fat issue, but that's an enormous dose for sublingual. Personally I haven't been able to do it - after 5 minutes of having grit under my tongue, I swallow it, which counts as oral, not sublingual.

Additionally: NMN does not cross the blood-brain barrier, but it works well for muscles and new blood vessel formation. NAD + overcomes the hematoencephalic barrier. NAD + also raises energy levels better. To help rejuvenate your brain, you need to combine sublingual NAD + with sublingual NMN. Your preferred option: In the morning 125-150 mg NMN, at lunchtime 125-150 mg NAD +, in the evening 25-150 mg NMN, and before bedtime 125-150 mg NAD + I guess this will help lower your epigenetic age even further.
