In Michigan a gas utility employee should have confirmed a bypassing gas control valve on the furnace if that was the case.A written form would be given to the customer to show to a contractor stating where the gas was leaking. The fuel line to the furnace would then be disconnected and capped for safety.I used to carry two different kinds of gas detectors which made confirming a bypassing gas valve easy.

hey ted love your vids as a trane tech my self they havve been super helpful just a tip for ya im sure your already aware but on those units with the isd or interstage delays you can change the dip switches for the timer on that unit you can set it to 0 seconds on s7 dip switch block and it will fire up in first stage burn till the blower comes on then jump right away to the second stage so you dont have to sit and wait the ten mins its a good tip for your maintence guys so they can save some time when working on equipment and they can change it back to the ten mins when they are done you could have done that on this call too just to make sure the second stage will fire but i get it was late and you were already doing them a favor as someone who works for a 24hr company trust me ik how crap those 1am calls are T.T

@@waltersmith7950 no not fully powered down but it does need to be in an idle state for the changes to register so what I normally do is just undo w1 let it swap back to idle and then make my dip switch or on board changes depending on the model and then just plug w1 back in this way your not wasting time going back and forth to the thermostat. Hope it helps

These valves are supposed to be redundant, with two seats inside, just for this reason. I would have verified that gas was leaking by testing at the orifices. I can’t understand why the gas company, who said the valve was leaking, left the gas on. Should have been capped off and tagged. Would be interesting to open that one up to see where they are failing. Sometimes the meter regulator creeps above the maximum pressure and damages the valve.

Probably just be easier to just keep the 2 stage valve on the truck! I keep 2 of them. For as long as you have known those people the least you could have done was set the gas pressure on the new valve. Usually 1.4L 3.3H , sometimes 1.7L 3.3H, based on the sticker on the valve. Very rarely are they spot on from the factory. Had a pack a few years ago that required 3.3h and was set at 3.5. On cold nights with long run times would trip high limit. Clean filters, .4 total static. Set to 3.3 per MFR specs and never did it again.

I try not to make the videos too long, and not make them a "multi task" type video.... it is not good for the analytics of the channel. On that particular sized unit I set low at 2.0 and high at 3.2.... NONE of the valves are set from the factory, period. Especially not the 2 stage ones. If you find even a single stage one within range of 3.2 to 3.5, you just "got lucky"....The only valves really interesting enough to video gas pressures on are, modulating valves, and or troubleshooting that involves pressures. Thanks for watching.
