He had a reasonable question - what about when he gets a new license? Why can't he take a driving test? Why can't he drive once he has a license? Why the weed thing on a shoplifting charge? If he used legally in another state - why is it any business of the court? I certainly did not get the impression the defendant was trying to 'run' the court.

This was definitely a bit much for a first time offender. I think that Judge Fleischer should not assume that all people are well versed in courtroom etiquette. Most first time offenders have probably never stepped in a courtroom in their entire lives. This defendant not knowing courtroom etiquette asked a question as it pertained to his conditions. Fine, it was addressed and now he knows. I do not believe he was out of line. People are products of their environment and I personally believe that his behavior was unintentional. He was respectful and replied with “yes sir” after realizing he was out of line. The whole stare down the judge did really didn’t match the misstep. Also, putting him in the jury box and faulting him for standing up after waiting an hour was again not appropriate. I really hope that this had nothing to do with race. This judges’ parents are from Santiago, Chile. I would hope that being a minority himself would deter him from any racist behavior but you never know.

This judge has serious issues! He was seething for the SLIGHTEST interruption. I saw NO sign that the kid thought he was "king of the world" or anything close. Did he fidget? Yes. It's called NERVOUSNESS! Did he have a question and interrupt? Yes again. But I honestly believe he didn't mean any disrespect. It was his first court date and he didn't know it's not like a normal conversation. Should he have waited to ask? Another yes but it was the smallest of slights and any normal, well-adjusted man would be able to see it was a mistake. Just correct him and tell him not to do it again. The fact that he jumped on him when he stood to stretch his legs after sitting for at least an hour is ridiculous! Maybe he was cramping up! He didn't try to go anywhere so what's the damage? All in all, I have seen this judge a few times and genuinely believe he needs a mental health assessment. Maybe some counseling to overcome his power issues and whatever else is fueling his need to do an EXTENDED STARE DOWN for the smallest of slights - perceived or real. (THAT was way over the top and creepy) It's too bad that we see more judges either too lenient or absolutely power mad. Too few are right there in the middle where we need them to be.

I've seen defendants and even attorneys interrupt judges on occasion. If the interruption is on the level of an interjection rather than argumentative, judges frequently ignore it as a normal course of conversation. This is what this defendant did, and he did it just one time rather than repeatedly despite an admonishment. He was fidgeting a bit but I saw that as sign of nervousness rather than disrespect. Mostly what I heard from the defendant was most statements ending with "sir", and replying with, "Yes, sir." Hardly disrespectful. I think the judge was far more disrespectful than the defendant.

Ignoring everything else if you're going to chew one person out for something then it should apply to everyone. He blasted the defendant for having his hands in his pockets but ignores the lawyer doing the same at 8:15.

This judge is a bully. Absolutely unacceptable. I watch court videos all the time and see very strict Judges maintain control of their court rooms without being a bully. This defendant’s behavior was not at the level requiring being bullied. Absolutely unacceptable. This judge is the one whose behavior is out of line.

Everytime I watch this judge, it reaffirms my belief in his LMS (Little Man Syndrome). This judge is way too harsh on people that resemble the bullies who beat him up in school. This judge NEEDS therapy.

His therapy was attending law school, being admitted to the Bar, winning election as a judge. I call that accomplishment therapy.

I suppose that is a perspective you can have. I'm not sure you will find many who share it, other than people in a jail cell somewhere. But it is a perspective.

@@LoneWolfUsul The people who WILL share it are those who understand that human beings are imperfect and that sometimes their nervousness in a new and stressful situation will lead to less than perfect behavior. He said, "Sir" a lot. This judge is habitually aggressive whether there is cause or not. He radiates contempt toward anyone who steps even a little out of line according to HIS standards. He is a bully in a bow tie. And despite your clumsy attempt at innuendo, I've never been in jail or in trouble with the law.

I'm guessing there is more going on in the background. The Judge seems to be angry with this young man from the start of the video. There must be more video's, because from what is shown here I could see the Judge being a bit stern with the defendant, but not this angry. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad to see more Judges finally enforcing the law again. I'm also glad to see more of the "Travelers" and "Journalists" being held responsible for their misinformation.

Good job, judge. This is how you handle black kings and queens. Now if judges would be this strict on disrespectful sovereign citizens and first amendment auditors. I'm glad this judge is in my home county.

You guys really need to work on the sound issues here. All these clicks and bumps are very distracting, enough to make your videos unwatchable.

Sound issues? Us work on the court rooms sound issues? lol. You know we don't setup the sound equipment and camera systems for the courts, right? We just capture a feed that the state makes available and comment on it. I normalize every video, run it through a sound compressor, and balance for dolby, but that is arguably more than I should do since most people watch this content on cell phones and tablets. LOL.

No, he doesn't. He's forced into a position of having to parent adult men. Not an easy task. Sometimes you have to take a child - in this case, an adult who thinks and behaves like one - down a peg or two to get their attention. Then you can rebuild. And excels at this process. Go back and watch some of his other videos with Judge Fleischer and you can see the whole process and how it works. His goal is to keep the streets safe and give these aimless young people a better future.
