We love the NCL “smaller” ships. We always feel less crowded than the large or mega ships (so much so that we don’t cruise on any ship that has over about 2,500 passengers). We have not been on the Pearl, but our experience matches yours. We will be on the Sun in October-November to cruise the Panama Canal. We love the service, the food, the entertainment and the general “atmosphere” of NCL’s smaller ships.

I have a suggestion for staying organized when you travel. Use one packing cube in your room/cabin for all those one of a kind things were always looking for. I put in my umbrella, scissors, waterproof phone holder, etc. Every time I was looking for something loose, I pulled that cube out and it was there. I called it my travel junk drawer, even though it wasn't junk. Hope you can use this.

@@barbaram7164 that was actually one of the things my wife and I didn't really like about the cruise. The Splash Academy, which is the kids drop off play place, had very limited hours IMO and was only open on sea days to begin with. Outside of the Splash Academy, the other planned activities like trivias and stuff didn't really appeal to our kids age so we felt there wasn't a lot for them to do. That being said, the pool was always an option and they had a blast at the Spash Academy when they did go so they definitely had a lot of fun overall, but we were hoping for a little more.

I'm replying to you asking us opinions on helping with directions on the boat. I've been on several cruises and I am constantly looking for my room on either the wrong side of the boat or going in the wrong direction. I don't understand why the cruise lines don't do something to help us out. I am an avid sailboat racer and in boating, as you face forward, port is left, starboard right. Port lines are usually red for port and green for starboard. It's easy to remember because port is a "red" wine. So they could do it discretely with a small red or green sign on each side of the ship on room floors, or more openly by decorating with red and green or something. This way we could not only know which side of the ship our stateroom was on, but which direction we had to go on each side. A win win. All the carpeting is custom made for these ships, so they could easily add a discrete fish here and there or some other object to signify which direction the boat is going within the design of the carpet. The carpet designers would have a heyday with this! If finding your stateroom is an issue for you, like me, tell the cruise line in your survey and make them aware. And maybe Ilana can work some magic also! Thanks Illana for always having good videos.

We loved Bar Harbor and Sydney. Charlottetown was quaint and we did some good eating there at "The Governor's House". We expected it to be cold as it was the east coast in fall, but the temps were in the high 80's practically until we hit Quebec. But Quebec did have it's hot days as well. Had I known it was going to be so warm, I would have brought a swimsuit. If my memory serves me correctly, the Joy docked while we were in Quebec. I'm pretty sure it had a water slide at the top, but I could be wrong. I fell in love with Quebec and I can't wait to go back.

We did a Canada & New England cruise last year. After visiting relatives in Toronto, we drove to Quebec City to finally board Cunard's QM2. We arrived in the City to bring back the rental car the day before a Marathon run took place. The whole old area of Quebec City was closed off, we had the hardest time to get rid of our rental car and to somehow get to the St. Lawrence to board. We were so stressed. But the voyage (ending in Hamburg, Germany) was abolutely great. We had been to Maritime Canada before on a road trip and this cruise added even more beautiful places. One of the best so far.... No worries @@LifeWellCruised!! I was actually thinking about that when I was watching the video...I should have asked about the WiFi situation on the ship!! Maybe you'll touch on that in another video! 🤞🏾😉😊

I miss the fish on the carpets! I wish they continued them. Anyways, we were on the Pearl with family this past June/July to Bermuda. Had a wonderful time and the grandkids (teens) had a fantastic time. There is something to do for everyone.

Living in Portland Maine, Ilana, we get a lot of ships this time of the year. This morning I walked the dog at Bug Light Park, overlooking the harbor and Casco Bay, and the Norwegian Sky was in. The Liberty of the Seas was scheduled today, but it wasn’t in by the time we left, 7:45. If you take another Canada New England cruise and it stops in Portland, I could suggest a few things/places to do. I know Norwegian has an excursion for a Lobster Bake on Peaks Island. I cannot attest to the quality of the bake, but Peaks Island is a great place to visit regardless.

Fishy carpets for the win!! Sad to see they’re gone from the Pearl. I’ll be on this ship in January 2025.

O I love the fish carpet. So sensible and helpful. Sad they don't have on Pearl.

Awww... I love the fishy carpets!!! We love NCL! One of the biggest complaints I've heard (myself included) is that O'Sheehan's has changed the way they cook their wings... now baked instead of fried. I just didn't like them that way... the skin was rubbery. So, I'm wondering if they've gone back to frying them again since so many people have mentioned it on social media and in their post-cruise surveys.
