Some pretty neat finds at your local flea market. Please sign me up for the Inter- Tribal Indian Ceremonial pamphlet from 1951, sounds extremely interesting. And of course the Steps to Good English which I need for my private studies. 😄 Anyways, even it was hot it paid off to visit this market. Similar temperatures over here (around 90 degrees F), but a weather change is announced for next Tuesday. Keep it up, Renée, and have a good one ! 🌤Greets from GER, U.

I was surprised to see the Native American ephemera items still in the box, as many had already looked through this vendor's items previously. Glad they were there though! Now to do a little more research, of course. Still hot today here, broke down and had my AC on. The fan just wasn't cutting it! Hoping for cooler weather and more great flea market days!

Really like the stuff you picked up today. That galvanized siding will come in handy one of these days. The way it's stamped, it looks like you could paint two stained glass church windows on it, if you were so inclined (maybe the backdrop for a small Christmas scene?). What was special about the Christmas stuff on the one table where some of the items were $50? A rare or desirable brand, I guess? The "Man with No Head" book looks great - maybe a short montage video? I don't know that book, but Robert McCloskey, the illustrator (as you may know) also wrote & illustrated, "Make Way for Ducklings," "One Morning in Maine," "Berries for Sal," and some other books. He was from Maine with some of his books set there (we used to go to Maine in the summers & so had them). You may also know there is a statue of 9 ducks celebrating "Make Way for Ducklings" on the Boston Common, where the book is set. I hope the film reel will turn out to be something cool and might make for a good video (history behind the celluloid). The art on the back of the Native American book looked Zuni to me - but I am no expert. For several years I have been collecting Zuni-made bolo ties. They are typically mosaics of different types of stone set in Sterling, representing characters and themes in Zuni culture & religion. Ironically - based on what I've read - this was not a form of art native to the Zuni people, but was taught to them as a way to earn money once the US Government had the Reservation system in place. Pre-reservation art or not, I think the students far exceeded the teachers - many of the pieces are stunningly beautiful (and valuable). Mums are out, so it must be fall - whether it's high 80s, 90s (here) or 100+ (my friends in TX and across the SW). Hope you have a great Thursday afternoon & weekend! Is that wallpaper you got really still good enough to be used as wallpaper? I hate to say it now, but I spent days stripping that type of wallpaper from an older home my parents bought in the early '80s. If only we had known!
@PaperandMoose
10 ай бұрын
Not sure if the wallpaper would still be useable. If I tried, most likely not! Haha. I haven't attempted to cut any yet, so we will see if it cuts nicely or falls apart. I don't think it will fall apart, as it seems to have been stored nicely. The Christmas items were priced at eBay & antique mall prices, in my opinion. I didn't look up the value of them, but I assume that the seller did. Now if a collector has been looking for that certain piece and knows they are normally in that price range online, would be easier to buy at the flea market and not worry about shipping costs or breakages during shipping. The seller did say that they could do a little better on the Christmas, but not sure how much they would have went down in their pricing. The weekend looks to possibly hold some rain, so it might be a flea market-less weekend, we shall see! Hope that you have a great weekend, whatever you might be doing!

Big book day. I've gotten books before, with no intention of reading them, just because they look good on a shelf. The siding sheets, if got all of them, didn't look like enough to even do the square footage of a door. I'd like to see a house done with it so I could see the end product. 👍👍
