As you joked a bit about how you and your skin are getting "wiser" I thought to my 65-year-old self: Why can't we just use the words that are meant to positively describe the process of growing older -- we mature -- instead of subbing in a word that does not really fit the concept of aging? If anything, the use of an awkward replacement in popular culture highlights how the very idea of aging is unacceptable. Being mature, maturity, maturing all accurately describe the rich experience dependent on the passing of time -- aging.

I appreciate the way you talk about ageing, there is a lot of ageism particularly towards women on social media. And the bar for being considered "old" seems to be getting lower. This is probably due to platforms like KZitem, which appear to be dominated by people under 25. Or at least they are the most loud and vocal. It also doesn't help when female KZitemrs over 30 refer to themselves as old. You just being here, being successful on KZitem, helps to change ageist attitudes.

Burning sole of foot could be an irritated plantar fascia tendon. The blisters could be related to a poor heel fit. Brooks usually are a good match if you have a narrow foot and don’t over probate. The hip flexor issue is related to the gait changes due to the poor fit of the shoe I’m guessing. Don’t wait fir pain to go away, change shoes. If you have a pair you love buy 3 more and rotate them. Best wishes!!

I don't really know anything about this so I'd take my reccomendation with a grain of salt haha. But the first ingredient I think of that may help would be caffeine, topically that is. Caffeine helps with puffiness under the eyes so maybe it could work to reduce the bulging qualities of the veins.🤷

Several comments! 1- I loved this video and will be checking out your playlist of faves & fails! 2- I’m a Brooks girl all the way! I’ve power walked miles and miles in my current pair & plan on purchasing another pair with Christmas money I usually receive. 3- I always appreciate your book reviews! As an avid reader and a published author, books are my world and I’m constantly on the lookout for good reads. 4- “The Impossible” is a great movie on Netflix about the tsunami in Thailand several years ago. And I’m sure you’ve watched “The Crown” but if you haven’t, it’s such a gift! 5- I loved Hillbilly Elegy as well. I live very close to this area and in fact, my husband is in the steel industry. Sadly, there are many things in the film that are accurate to our area. The poverty, the drug activity and lack of helpful resources. 6. I’ve currently read 40 books in 2020 thus far. “American Dirt” was my favorite by far. It opened my eyes and changed my heart. Thank you again for a lovely video!

I HATE Hillbilly Elegy. First, autoethnography is rarely a rigorous way to make sociological inference (especially when done by someone without any training, like the author). If he were just telling his personal story that would be one thing, but he is trying to make an argument about people in that kind of situation more broadly, which he has no business making. Second, his argument that their difficulties are their own fault is completely abhorrent. Edit: There are so, so many good works in this area that explore these topics, some come to similar conclusions, but at least they are rigorous and conducted by those with the appropriate expertise.

My last pair of running shoes are actually boys’ trail shoes. I’m 48. I was a ballerina for about 15 years and I carried three children so my toe box is wide and my heel is narrow. Luckily my feet are relatively small so the boy shoe works out. I would continue with the same lady’s Saucony cross trainer if it had the same number. I wore the same type for ten years. Now I’m a boy shoe convert. Books? Especially books also made into movies? I like Stephen King books and I really enjoyed the Hulu series of the Handmaid’s Tale along with the book. The Hunger Game series was good too. A friend recommended At the Corner of Bitter and Sweet as well as Candice Millard’s Destiny of the Republic. Both great. Millard’s The River of Doubt I like too. And then I’m a big fan of Pearl Buck novels. Pearl by John Steinbeck. You obviously read a lot of books.

I know this is a late comment but I was just thinking about this video again today because I'm going to buy new running shoes. It keeps bugging me that this wasn't mentioned... issues with running shoes are almost never the BRAND'S fault. It's the consumer's fault for not usually doing proper research on your running style, your arch, your gait, alignment, and all that (pronation). Some brands do cater more to certain types so it's still good to know your preference but it also doesn't mean you have to be scared to try other brands your whole life.

If you use neutral, cushion running shoes, I would recommend the Saucony Triumph. They're really pricey, but you can always get a great deal on the past year version - albeit sometimes only in a funky color if you're a common shoe size. They're really lightweight for the cushion level, and they fit like socks.
