@@marcellapuryear5728 that's actually the trend in the 1920s setting of Chicago. Flat-chested and androgynous body-type was the standard beautiful during that era so Renee's body was just perfect. Even Catherine herself said Renee was plucked straight out of the black and white photos from that decade and became technicolor. If you'll take a look at Catherine's body especially in Hot Honey Rag, they also made her look as flat-chested as possible. Heck, even illustrations from back then usually show willowy built of women. Also, Renee had to lose a lot of weight after playing Bridget Jones so she can play Roxie. That should show how dedicated she is for her role.

I think that CZJ's musical theater talent and experience bumped everybody up to the next level. Catherine gave it 100 in run throughs and rehearsal. Renee seemed to follow her lead. Catherine fully deserved that Oscar, in fact it should have been for Best Actress. One day she will be an E.G.O.T..

I'm not hating on Renée it you could tell Catherine was the trained dancer. Renée did a good job but Catherine was more grounded, like Gene Kelly. Less bouncy; her movements were more "rooted". I probably am not making sense but it was something my tap teacher taught me in high school.

Probably because you are a judging piece of shit, who have never done anything like this. She became fit and skinny for the role. Everyone ignores her saying 'she is not talented enough' because it is easier than facing the fact that you only look at a woman's shape and not her skills. You know shit about theater anyway.
