My late Uncle couldn't afford the big accessories when he was a kid, so he taught himself how to build with wood, tin, heavy card, etc - he made some beautiful copies of Lionel goodies, using the pics in catalogs & examples at his local train shop as models. My cousins didn't want any of it when he passed away, so I inherited some fantastic stuff which I regard as works of art. His version of the huge lift bridge is incredibly detailed, right down to tiny bunches of realistic weeds & microscopic discarded cigar stubs from the carved hobos !

Brings back my childhood from 1950`s. I had log loading, a box car that threw out boxes to a platform, coal car that was very messy, a refrigerator car with a man that pushed magnetic milk cans onto a steel platform. Mine was just an 8x8 plywood , but fun. I did find a book at the local library in the 70`s or 80`s that had all the things I once owned.

Beautiful layout, excellent filming and control of your trains and accessories. I too am a fan of operating accessories. With a bit of patience and some tweaking, here and there, my post-war accessories all work perfectly, most of the time.....LOL Some of them, such as the culvert duo are quite a bit noisier than your modern versions however. But still, it's fun to see them in operation as well as tinker with them to get them to do so.

I can't thank you enough for this video. My son in law recently told me about a train his grandfather had given him but, that he played with it about a week brfore his Mom packed it away. He just told me about this, of course I had to look. O guage lionel with one trolley, a pre-war three car unit that is unfortunately damaged, a locomotive (in for service since I just found it) with tender, 6 cars including a milk jug car, 30 straight, 22 curves and a couple of short track. Also, a KW transformer, another 1033 transformer, 4 track switches with frayed (of course) wires, one uncoupler, 5 misc plastic cars, a station and an oil rig. Seems to me everything works for the most part. This has rekindled a love from childhooh. I have already spent about $1200 on track,about a hundred feet plus the 40 I already have, a couple more switches and decoupler/unloaders, a diesel locomotive, 100 people and trees, a lot of buildings. All of which I have just bought over e-nayy. I have no layout yet planned and am looking for some help with experience. At the VERY high end of using all of 7'x12'. I know I should keep the center somwhat open for access. Send help directly to my e mail bill.linnert1@gmail.com. Thanks ever so much train people

Operating trains is definitely fun, but adding either operating accessories or stationary accessories, it only enhances it with more fun to your layout. For instance, who doesn’t like to see a #145 Gateman come out on his own, or using a #182 Magnetic Crane? It gives your layout life! And when you turn the room lights off, and all you see are accessories with all of their vibrant different colored lights, that’s a layout that has tremendous play value. It’s a home run in my book. Since when you last did this video Sean, have you added or removed any of your accessories? I love all of the animation you have. It looks fantastic!! Maybe you can do an updated video on your accessories again! I think that would be a hit with your new, as well as your current subscribers.

Great fun thx for sharing. Do you have to reduce track voltage to operate some of the accessories?
@seanstraindepot
6 жыл бұрын
Yes, A lot of the newer ones run on voltages up to18v, so those are not an issue since voltage doesn't affect the speed or performance (they are set to run no matter what the voltage as long as the minimum is there, but some of the older ones like lower voltages like 12v. So I have 6 different feeds to get the right voltage for everything. I use an older ZW-C and a New ZW-L to get all my different voltages. Plus I need lower than 18V for the LCS system modules so I use them for that too.
