• A Relationship with God begins at baptism:
All relationships have a beginning, and that’s true with God. Once we
become aware of God, Jesus, and the fact we are sinners, we then
obey the gospel, hopefully beginning a lifelong relationship with God.
(Romans 6: 3-4; Colossians 3 :1-4; 2 Corinthians 5: 17; Ephesians 5: 8;
Colossians 2: 12; Colossians 1: 10).
• Do you enjoy being with the Lord in formal worship?
I’ve heard it said that if you can’t consistently spend a few hours a
week in formal worship, how do you possibly expect to spend
eternity worshipping and praising God? (Matthew 18: 20; Hebrews
10: 24-25; Matthew 28: 20).
• Does your service reflect your pleasure of being with
the Lord?
You’ve undoubtedly heard the quote, “If you truly enjoy your work,
you will never work a day in your life.” One definition for work is “to
exert oneself physically or mentally, especially in sustained effort for
a purpose or under compulsion or necessity.” (1 John 1: 7; Ephesians
5: 8-10; Matthew 5: 15-16)
• Do you enjoy spending time with fellow-Christians?
If you enjoy spending time with God in worship, prayer, and Bible
reading, you should also enjoy being in the company of other
Christians. People who share your beliefs and values based on
Scripture. (Acts 2 : 46-47)
• When you die, will you be with the Lord?
This is a good question. As we inferred earlier, if you resist being with
the Lord in life, how can you possibly expect to be with him in death?
We may achieve many good and noble things in life, but nothing is
more important than dying in the Lord! (Revelation 14: 13; Philippians
1: 21-23; 1 Thessalonians 4: 16-18)
