My favorite railroad murder story, although post-golden age, is Edmund Crispin's Gervase Fen story "Beware of the Trains." The murder and solution are rather in second place, surrounded by a hilarious exposition on the perils and annoyances of train travel in the post-WWII era. "... starring Kenneth Brannagh and his awful mustache as Hercule Poirot." Touché, if cheeky.
