A great pick. Around 2020 it stopped showing up on shelves around us and we didn't see a bottle for a long time. That period forced us to buy a lot other bottles in the ~$40 range. Extremely hard to compete with

I want to argue with you about how much better a full peel looks compared to an orange string, but I almost lost my pinky using a peeler the other night… might have to break out the channel knife next time.

Hah! I've seen some lovely looking garnish, but I've had too many quick slips and close calls to make it worthwhile. I originally had garnish as the last section of the video because it's the least important, but on a phone call my brother told me "I've almost fucked myself up so many times with people over, that's the most important tip you have."

I never realized what made the spirals different (other than shape) but now I know. Benchmark bonded or Early Times BiB are my go to for OF one but Russell's 6yo rye is also geat.

Luxardo are good, but I prefer Toschi Amerena when and if (rarely) I want a cherry in my OF. Great video, especially about the channel knife. Like the bitters combination, will try that tonight. Hard to say about which bourbon, I like so many in the mid-price range. Woodford, Jefferson, Bowman Bros, Elijah Craig and on and on. Had one made with Larceny last week down in Springfield Tn that was excellent.

Disagree on most of this. I use a serrated peeler which has no problem with orange peels or being unsafe. Use a mixing glass and regular ice for stirring, strain over a large cube in the glass. Looks more impressive for the guest. While I agree on botanical bitters, I like chicory pecan and black walnut bitters depending on my mood. As for preferred bourbon, something at least 100 proof but not expensive because of that dilution: Wild Turkey 101, Early Times Bottled-in-Bond, or Old Grand Dad 114.

I always mix my old fashioneds in a mixing glass with regular ice from my freezer and pour over a clear ice sphere. The one bitter I always use is black walnut bitters and angostura bitters It adds a beautiful sweetness to the cocktail and brown sugar cinnamon simple syrup is my go to! Good video!

Thank you! The Black Walnut bitters are one of the three we actually used at the bar, definitely one of the best of the flavored bitters. Using a mixing glass and "finishing ice" is also a great way to impress, but my guest would have to be pretty important to me for me to voluntarily increase the amount of dishes I'm doing lol.

ditto on the black walnut bitters. I usually add them to coffee liqueur and it's honestly one of the best combos. 10/10 would recommend

Cool video. I have found that I actually like Fabbri Amarena cherries as much as the Luxardo cherries, and it is a bit cheaper. For anyone interested.

Great job on the Old Fashioned. Love the brown sugar syrup, I used to use demerara but it is impossible to find since the pandemic. Also, I am a huge fan of Peychaud's, so this was a perfect upgrade to my normal OF. I like to use Evan Williams Bottled-in-Bond in my OF or if I need one with more kick, I use Benchmark Full Proof. Keep up the good work!
