Beautiful spring day and my first real thermalling day this year at Little Black....Flying Advance Xi and Easiness 3 harness.
I have launched in these wind conditions before and had a great time soaring but this day was "special". I did feel good about calling it and deciding to get back on the ground BUT...
Lessons Learned:
1. Make sure all lines are clear, especially for a lightweight wing like mine. Form a nice wall and keep the wing on the ground with just enough back risers (too much and the trailing edge will want to "fly"), coupled with A risers control. Launch only when all feels good.
2. If you have to abort and start over, PREFLIGHT AGAIN...Clear Those Brake Lines!
3. Really judge the conditions on the ground and don't rely on just weather predictions. This was not forecast to be a rowdy thermal day...Surprise!
4. Too much ridge soaring makes one (me) complacent for those thermal days! And it's not even summer yet when things really "heat" up!
Take care and thanks for watching!
