I used the waggon and horses when I was about 19 and I worked next door in Housing units of Hollinwood and we also used the Grey Horse across the road next to Ferranti's as it had a better pool table in the tap room , I left Oldham 40 years ago for pastures new and I went back a couple of years ago for a friends wedding and had a good drive around and could hardly recognise the place as it has changed dramatically especially with the new motorway which has gone right through where I lived.. Ah well progress Cannot be stopped I suppose but that area has lost most of the friendly atmosphere it once had and that's sad...... Thanks for posting...👍

Do you remember Colin at the wheatsheaf and can you remember the parrot on the bar ? 😆 Yes I can still see the Grey horse in my minds eye . Does anyone remember The Old Psst The pub on the other corner has gone out of my head for the moment, It wasn’t the Filo as I’m sure that was facing the Hat & Frather . I keep thinking the old Bell if anyone knows

Thanks so much for the feature on the White House. I lived right opposite at 262 Henshaw St for the first seven years of my life. I think the house where I lived next to the Tank garage is a football pitch now ! Brought back lots of memories of my St Mary's childhood!

Wagon and horses, I had a DJ residency there for a while back in the eighties when life was so different and happier (my opinion) that was a tuff pub, I remember a guy getting thrown threw the window like in the cowboy movies, and everyone carrying on as if nothing had happened and low and behold the guy came back through the door to finish his pint. No joke, great work glad I found your site

@@SarahsUKGraveyard Hi Sarah. Just started watching your channel and want to let you know I'm enjoying your stuff. Your style reminds me of "Cunk on Britain," smile raising but serious at the same time. You've probably got this information already since the making of this video but in case you haven't "ere goes Las" The Grey horse was on'tother side't road to the Wagon and Horses next to what is now Voujon indian restaurant. The "Grey" was delicensed 28/6/2012 and demolished 17/1/2014. Voujon was sandwiched inbetween the grey horse and the woodman both pubs demolished leaving the detatched building which is Voujon. Keep on filming and I'll keep on watching.🎖😊

Hello again great video I used to be a dj at the primrose view pub on Ashton Road and where my dj booth was I could see the bar and one night I saw a glass fly of the top shelf and one of the bar staff saw the ghost of a man upstairs walk past and one of the cleaners saw the ghost an old lady in the tap room😮

Omg. Well I'm doing another pubs one so I'll add that in. Won't have the sound issue and will have more detail in the next one so hopefully better. I think the primrose is still there isn't it? Isn't it a curry house now?

The Wagon and Horses that you feature, was known as The "Bottom Wagon". About a mile further up towards Oldham, opposite The Smut Inn was another Wagon and Horses, and, not surprisingly, this was known as The "Top Wagon'.

@@jamiecameron4383 Yes, I remember Bob and Catherine with fond memories. The Smut Inn was my local for over 30 years. I never used "The Top Wagon' much; too much of a staid person I'm afraid. I think I remember you. If I am correct, you would be about 12 years old at the time and had a full head of red hair! Another couple of names from that period would be Steve Mellor (now long deceased I know) and Ken the barman who is/was gay. I had no problem with this, for he was a nice bloke with whom you could have a laugh!

My mate is a tenant in the Oldham brewery, the upstairs part, I’ve helped him on a couple of late nights.................. Never again !! Even he himself has said there’s definitely something there. One night he was there till about 2am with another friend and they heard a load of banging coming from the far side of the unit, there was no one there apart from them 2. They swiftly left lol. I would never go there on my own at night that’s for sure.

My mum had her wedding reception at White house when she got remarried in 1986. On that day i was sat at the bar with my grandad when he casually mentioned that He had built the very same bar. He was a carpenter who was working for a long since gone Oldham firm called Copsterhill Constructions who refitted pubs . He worked Long after he should have retired infact until his death. His name was Leo Ryan and if you did your boozing or spent any time propping up a bar in an Oldham pub In the 80's chances are you'll have spilled your pint on one of them
