Excellent outdoor night shots. That is truly the gold of these type reviews. So many claim it's pointless as some cameras don't show exact differences in brightness between flashlights, etc., but I feel a flashlight review is incomplete without the outdoor night shots. Nice job.

I like the fact that the Baton Pro is more floody in a pocket carry EDC light. Most EDC lights are spotty, so this gives you an option.
@Hatchbm
4 жыл бұрын
I have both and appreciate your Honest Review. A few opinions of my own: 1. The Pro has more of a flood pattern. Good if you are walking around outside and don't want to "scan" the light back and forth. 2. Not sure why you would prefer to remove the battery or use a micro USB cord? Removing the battery takes time and having a USB port to wear and tear, plugging in and out, and a spot to collect dirt/water debris. Not to mention unscrewing the light to take the battery out is going to cause the clip to wear the coating off the body that spins against it eventually. I have noticed the blue (I'm assuming Powdercoat) coating smeared on the surface of the clip after screwing the battery out. The magnet is quicker and easier with less wear/tear/damage. 3. I prefer the S2R for EDC even though it is not that much shorter, it makes a difference in a pocket. 4. The Pro's 5 lm "moonlight" mode is still way too bright for moving around the house at night, IMO. I actually prefer the S2R's .5 lm moonlight mode as it is just enough to get me to the bathroom/kitchen/whatever without waking anyone else, including myself. Bright lights tend to make it harder to get back to sleep. So I agree, wish the Pro had the lower .5 moonlight mode. 5. I don't really notice that much difference in the Pro and the S2R. Going from 1150 to 2000 lm in turbo mode, I would expect the Pro to be much brighter. 6. Agree, I recommend to stick with the S2R Baton II, though I really want to like my Pro in Desert Tan more, I still think the S2R is a better light overall.
@orhanabd1724

That's because 2000 lumens is not twice as bright as 1100 lumens! O don't like too flody light even in edc flashlights. You ca make a thrower light floody by using a simple difuser but not the other way

Personally I hated the Klarus and can not stand usb charging of batteries on the daily basis. Maybe fine for someone who occasionally uses a flashlight but for daily use for work the magnetic charging setup with L docks is the best setup around. I agree with the fact that if you have the S2R2 there is no need to upgrade but for someone just getting into one the Pro is another decent choice.

Thanks for the comparison video. Would be nice if all reviewers to mention the Candela power on these torches. Everyone is so focused on the lumens but not paying as much attention to the beam intensity (candela). The S2R II has almost half the lumens of the Baton Pro but still throws light further out because of this. The Warrior X has a 300, 600 and short 2000 lumens but even the 300 would outshine both these lights at full power because of the 74,000 Candelas.

I was wanting a review like this. I only gripe I agree with is not having the 0.5 level. Otherwise why people would prefer to remove batteries or mess with a cover/boot is beyond my understanding. Take light and get close to charger and done, same for when it's done, grab and go with no messing around. I don't want a hot spot with this type of light, but if you don't you'll get something else. For all those saying it's a money grab.... Really? Sometimes only slight changes are needed to improve a current design. At least Olight is constantly striving to improve.
4 жыл бұрын
Exactly. I've had two Klarus with water damage because of the same reason. One of them the USB seal just vanished and I didn't notice before dipping it in a river. The other one the seal hadn't popped completely in when using it in a pool. On both of those instances I also used my S30R that worked perfectly (and still going). I don't want to be worrying about a damn seal before my light touches water. I also prefer the s30's (similar to the Baton Pro) side switch over the Klarus double switch which the video also mentions.
@suburbanhobbyist2752
3 жыл бұрын
01:53 Why would you prefer removing the battery to charge it? The number 1 thing these Olights have going for them (among many imo) is how easy they are to keep charged. I mounted a magnetic charger under the edge of my nightstand and simply pop it on there at night. That is vs unscrewing and taking out the battery for a fresh one, it's just so much faster and convenient.

I have a few flashlights, one is the S2R Baton 2, and wanted a comparison. You've done a great job at doing that, so thank you, but here's what I kept hearing in my head while watching your Olight vs Olight comparison: *"Is this an AD for Klarus, disguised as an Olight vs Olight comparison video?"* Now for the previously mentioned criticism. While I cannot disagree, and also prefer a button on the butt of flashlights, you seemed to prefer everything about the Klarus. While I get that you're use to the Klarus, so it's become your preference, what had me shaking my head was the injection of preferring the status indicator off the button *because you need to remove your thumb to see it* . Maybe it's just me, but I retract my thumb an inch or 2 towards the back after I push the side flashlight button to turn it on and set the lumens. Keeping your thumb on the button changes the lumens, so it wouldn't make sense to keep your thumb on the button once you turn it on and set it to the lumens you want. It seems that your finger memory is trained to the Klarus, so it doesn't seem natural to you. I'm sure it's because you've been using the Klarus, and now that you're use to using it, you wanted to mentioned that the Klarus seemed more natural to you, but introducing the Klarus on an Olight vs Olight video, and then giving the Klarus a 1up on most features does come off a little shady. Worth mentioning to you how it can appear. since your video is an otherwise Honest review.

Can this light be charged at anytime? Like for example, the medium mode has a run time of 14 hours. If, when fully charged, I use it on medium for like 2 or 3 hours and the battery indicator is still green, can I just throw it on the charger? I have been waiting for it to turn yellow or red before I charge it. Whereas only using around 2 hours and just using it again the next night without charging, I'd be afraid if I really had to push it on like high, that the battery would be used from the 2 hours the night before, and therefore not be as charged.

Stop the on turbo only comparison. Any user knows these lights are useless on turbo for doing work use. This light does 600 lumens more than 3 hours. Literally the best lumen level in all Baton series lights. Rather than stepping down it runs all them 600 lumens with no drop for several hours. S2R2 can’t. The S2R2 only throws 9 feet further. That’s a wash but is half as bright up close.
