I am not one to defend the western MSM, but on this issue their coverage is accurate. I am in Poland rn, a town near the Ukrainian border. I have seen Ukrainian refugees (all women and children) pour over the border and settle into churches and other public buildings.I have also met foriegn volunteer soldiers coming back from fighting in Ukraine. These guys showed me videos of what some of the Russian soldiers are doing to these people. There are people in the streets with bullet holes in their heads and hands tied behind their back. One also told me he saw a dead thirteen year old girl with her legs spread open with the "Z" carved in her flesh. He actually started to cry when he told me about the things he witnessed over there. This guy was an American Iraq veteran, and he told me the Ukraine war made his experience in Iraq look like a camping trip. This is WWII level of destruction on a sovereign European nation that was merely trying to join the EU and NATO. Any counter argument about "Denazifying Ukraine" or "retaliate against NATO expansionism" is pure propaganda. Stone is leaving out a lot of pertinent details when he criticizes Ukrainians and the West. The Moscow regime brainwashing the people of the Donabas with anti western propaganda via public radio and then arming them in 2014 and encouraging them to wage war against the democratically elected Ukrainian government in Kiev is what started this all. Moscow is notorious for dividing the population of their perceived enemy and then conquering them with brute force. Claiming they are invading to "protect ethnic Donbas Russians from Nazis" is simply propaganda, and it does not in any way justify a full fledged invasion. An even more important detail he conveniently left out is in 2021 the Civil war in the Donbas was coming to an end. Not nearly as many people were dying in 2021 than in 2014 and 2015. Russia is responsible for ramping up the tensions in the region. NOT the west. Yet, it is funny that the only time Russia started to interfere with Ukraine was when pro western Ukrainians had a populist revolution and overthrew the corrupt Russian backed regime in Ukraine. Ukrainians have suffered under the yolk of Russian tyranny and corruption for years, and they reached a breaking point and started the Euromaidan uprising. I should also add, In the 1930s Ukrainians were starved to death under Stalin's rule. Millions of Ukrainian Kulaks died and some even resorted to cannibalism. These same ethnic Russians in the Donbas that are anti Ukraine worship Josef Stalin, the man who is responsible for these deadly actions that eliminated millions of Ukrainians. It is not hard to understand why Ukrainians feel threatened when Moscow arms these pro russian separatists. No one is denying that the nazi azov Battalion exists, but they have very little political power in the Ukrainian government. Kiev views them are useful idiots to fight on their behalf so they did in fact arm them. They took the "ends justify the means approach" to the situation. I agree that any war crimes they commit ought to be exposed and the perpetrators ought to be prosecuted. I do not agree with any cruel treatment towards Russian POW's or civilians. The NATO expansion argument is really easy to dismantle. Before Feb 24 2022, NATO was not a threat to Russian security. Latvia, Estonia, and Lithuania are have been NATO countries since 2004, and all three of them border Russian territory. NATO has never fired a single shot at Russia. When Russia claims they view Ukrainie becoming a NATO member as an existential threat, it is not rational, given that fact that NATO has bordered their country for over 20 years and never took hostile action against Moscow. The only thing that could have prevented this war is if Ukraine became a NATO memember sooner. It really is unfortunate that this did not happen. All the the responsibility for this bloodshed is on the hands of the Russian oligarchs that instigated it.

Let's not forget they shot down a commercial airline...this isn't a bunch of rag tag farmers with rifles. This is thousands of Russian and russian Ukranians well armed and organized. It isn't a surprise though that Russia is using the " liberator" card to push for more resource rich territory though. The west is doing it too. OSCE, the observers have NOT reported Russian weapons or troops. The Minsk agreement also make it VERY clear that the conflict in Donbass was NOT Ukraine vs Russia but a civil war. The legal justification Russia makes for this intervention is solid. IF NATO bombing of Yugoslavi was legal, as NATO claims IF Kosovo is a sovereign country as The "West" Claims. THEN Crimea, Luhansk and Donetsk are sovereign countries AND Russia's intervention to protect them is legal and in accordance with the UN Charter art 51 (Collective self defence) One can say that is "hog wash" BUT that is the justification NATO gave and they consider that ok, if its good enough for them its good enough for EVERYBODY. Fact persist, Ukraine was killing its own people for 8 years straight EVEN AFTER A PEACE AGREEMENT WAS SIGNED (The Minsk agreement) How would you end that?? The west did not even protest it.

I wanted to reply to a Rauf's from Ukraine comment but it is gone. From my view this conflict started by the annexation of Crimea when Ukraine was at its weakest when a pro-Russian government was overthrown because the vast majority of the Ukrainians wanted to join the EU and even NATO, something that Putin as an imperialist dictator couldn't accept of a neighboring country. The war in the east, the Azov regiment, and now this invasion is a derivative of the injustice afflicted to the Ukrainians by Russia and they blame the west and especially America for it. The DPR and LPR were known as terrorist militia and Russia backed them for 8 years financially and with arms, intelligence and mercenaries. If we in the west would have a neighboring country with similar issues we wouldn't walk in, annex territory and support terrorist militia groups. No, we would encourage the country to have free elections and have their issues solved internally. So if Putin would have been in support of free elections in 2014, wouldn't have annexed Crimea and the Donbass there would long be peace in Ukraine and very likely it would have been an EU and NATO member by now already doing much better than what Russia is today. It is like Putin cannot accept that a long time ago Ukraine was part of the Soviet Union and people would still aspire being part of the great and mighty empire. That was many years ago, currently many of the newer generations don't even speak Russian anymore. It is like Russia doesn't want to allow Ukraine to become a part of Europe resulting in it to be more isolated so it started a war destroying Ukraine's culture, destroying holiday destinations in Odessa, inflicting huge costs to us the west, so it is not in the interest anymore of Europe. It seems they are jealous which explains the looting and destruction of machinery. And now the exact opposite happened. Russia is more isolated than ever and there will only be peace if it fully retreats from Ukrainian territory, either voluntarily or by force, the latter causing many more casualties and destruction over a protracted war that can last for years.

The only reason it’s interesting to listen to Oliver Stone is being left constantly amazed at how a single individual can be so delusional, blind and biased just for the sake of being a contrarian toward his own country. This guy literally can’t see things in an objective manner. Every time he tries to give some validity to the West, he immediately stops himself, follows it up with some cynical comment along the lines of “but the reason Russia did such and such is the West’s fault,” and when he is asked about RUSSIAN soldiers murdering civilians, he blows over that and talks about the Russian separatists who have died since 2014. Give me a fucking break. I get that strategy. I’ve heard so much of such cynicism lately it makes me sick how many people on this hemisphere are so prone to brainwashing and propaganda. No one is saying the West is totally good, I agree given the past failed, and disastrous campaigns in the Middle East. However none of this makes what Russia is doing is right, nor does it absolve them of responsibility from this brutal humanitarian disaster.

From what I can see, no evidence points to this being done solely to panic people, but there is evidence to suggest those considered to be traitors/saboteurs/agents were caught. On the contrary, there is plenty of evidence to suggest former President Yanokovych had a private group of people he used solely as agent provocateurs, the Titushky, and they would frequently infiltrate protests and other events to start trouble and give an excuse for police to be brought in to wrap things up, thus having a complete hegemony over who could and who couldn't have an opinion.

Hello, I m an ukrainian from Kyiv. Some questions to russian propagandist Stone: If Russia doesnt want to occupy Ukraine, what their forces did on Kyiv's suburbs ? Does Stone know that in last year on Donbus region were killed only 7 people and what side guilty is a question If Stone thinks that victims of this war and ruination of cities of Ukraine is a fiction why didnt he come to see it on his own eyes ? Medvedchuk - is a russian agent lke Yanukovich, but Stone cant even correctly pronounce his name but knows how good president he could be there is no consensus with russia until they occupy ukrainian territory. NATO has never given any signs that Ukraine could become a member of this organisation in nearest future. European country and USA could have done everything to not prevent this war but it doesnt remove responsability for this war from russia. Since 2014 till 2022 was killed 14 thousands people/ 10 000 of them is ukrainian army and russian separatists. So there were killed 4 thousand of civil people. At least half of them lived on territory under ukraine. After 3 month of this war were killed more than 4 thousands. This is only people that were founded on deoccupied territory. If Ukraine deoccupy others regions there will be more. There is information that in Mariupol were killed 22 thousand civilians. Ukrainian army doesnt kill civilians couse they are part of their nation. I go to work and home with ukrainian soldiers every day. I donate my money for ukrainian army. Russian army consists of social bottom. They much more tends to kill. This war is against ukrainian identity. White bands use russian soldiers as red bands, ukrainian soldiers use yellow and blue. Civilian mustnt use any bands. Russian soldiers forced ukrainians to use white bands in order to ukrainian soldiers shoot civilians by mistake. Stone made fiilm on american tragedy and cite to some unconfirmed information that throws shadow to american governmant. He made spide of conspiracy over one of the biggest american tragedy like some documentary about NLO and ect. He used this tragedy for his own interest. Now he is making the same sh*t.

Oliver Stone calling out Ukrainian extremists without asking why it happens.... Oliver Stone is a great picture of modern narcicism ...this is all about his own storytelling of a misunderstood Russia who is the real victim according to him...In my opinion Lex could have challenged Stone way more

At this point I'm convinced that Lex is sympathasing with Putin and his ideas. A lots of materials he publishes is pro russian. Not even considering the fact that Lex is originally from Odessa (Ukraine), while still calling himself Russian. :) Just this fact plays on hand with Russian propaganda.

If anyone is confused about who the aggressor is, or is confused by Stone's twisted views of history and geopolitics, just look up how many countries Russia has invaded in the past 100 years and compare that to how many Ukraine has invaded. You'll get a clear view as to who's right and who's wrong in this conflict.

That's not the right question. If you look how many countries United States invaded.... Even when they were 8,000 km away... Moscow is 400 km from the border. Putin fear was logical. This a preventive war like you did on Iraq. But at least here putin had arguments you had not: NATO expansion to the east
@kerry9125

@@pacmanlp8876 you say, "like I did in Iraq"? Who am I? I didn't invade Iraq or anyone. Are calling me the USA? Regardless, why are you even talking about the United States? The comparison I made is between the two countries at war. Your justifying Russia's invasion of Ukraine because the US invaded Iraq thirty years ago is absurd. Furthermore, this war has done more for NATO expansion than anything. NATO is more unified, getting better armed, and Finland and Sweden want to join. NATO wouldn't exist if Russia wasn't such a pariah, yet not once has NATO ever invaded Russia.

Pac-Man… no it’s exactly the right question. Why does Russia’s security matter more than Ukraine s? We all know this isn’t about security it’s an imperialist move to expand Russia’s borders and get the natural gas finds on Ukraine territory…. Putin knows nato is defensive and it’s hard to get 30 members to agree on anything. This conflict is 100% his fault
@MrEd8846

@@pacmanlp8876 his fear wasn't and isn't logical. It basically boils down to his puppet got scared and fled. Ukraine wasn't even close to getting NATO membership and even if they were they have any right to. Russia's violated the agreements throughout the years but suddenly it's "oh but ukraine violated the agreements". Or they talk about the hostilities that the Ukrainians are doing but we have more evidence for Russian hostilities and warcrimes than the Russians have for Ukrainian hostilities and warcrimes. And if you really trust Putins word remember this. He blames Poland for the start of WW2. Isn't it weird someone who is supposedly fighting nazi's uses Nazi propaganda to justify the invasion of Poland by the Nazis and Soviets?

Truly disgusted by Oliver Stone. Anyone with half a brain understands that Ukraine was _never_ a threat to Russia. Regarding pro-russians in Donbas: They certainly aren't pro-russian any longer, so that's out of the window. Regarding the Azov battalion: Yes, they've done bad things and Zelensky was about to gradually strip these guys for weapons and such. These days, however, the Azov battalion are Ukrainian folk heros due to their bravery and competence in fighting the Russians.

I agree with you on everything, but wanting to add my take as Ukrainian about Azov. Azov was built by volunteers in 2014, people from whole Ukraine and even some people from other countries joined this battalion. Yes, in Azov battalion among Ukrainian patriots and nationalists, there happened to be some far right people, those who support fascism and it`s ideas. It surely played well on hand for russian propaganda, and on top of that, Azov did badly with managing it at that time, they were still fighting russians under Ukrainian flag. Average Ukrainians were aware of it, we saw those pictures with some of their fighters holding fascist flags with swastika, and no one was happy about it, as we also fought against fascism back in WW2. On top of that, previous and current presidents of Ukraine wanted to ban Azov in Ukraine for that. But it didn`t work out that way, people still supported them, as there are a lot of good guys in Azov, local people who a lot of us know personally. Unfortunately Azov from the beginning was painted bad colors by couple of guys who couldn`t resist showing off the stupid ideology they supported, and whole Azov is paying huge price for it to this time.

@@Offwekid Thanks for the insights, buddy. I've never been to Ukraine myself but the wife of my best friend is from Mariupol (!) Since the start of the war, we've all been involved with getting her family out of there, something we managed except her 91 year old grandmother, who stayed behind. "Someone has to take care of the plants", she said..

@@RTC1655 I wish best to your wife’s grandmother, hope she’s ok. From what I know from the girl I work with (she fled from Mariupol, and left there her mother and father), lately fighting mostly takes place around Azovstal metallurgy plant, Russia is not bombing the city no more. She also told me that russians are coming to apartments, checking if no one is hiding, checking on civilians for guns, Ukrainian flags etc, but not hurting anyone who’s down with them. Unfortunately there is big problem with electricity and gas. People were told to expect electricity back in around 2 months and gas in 4-5. But giving all that, it is hard and scary to imagine what is going to happen in next month’s, russians are settling in captured city’s, and they surely are going to be fired from there by Ukraine force, poor civilians would suffer more. I live on the west of Ukraine (furthest from the war), but had the same talk in my family about leaving, everyone agreed except of my grandmother, her home, lovely garden and chickens are to precious for her. So far only half of my family left, but they are coming back in couple of days. We pray for the best, for victory and freedom in whole Ukraine from those russian pigs.

there has been a full blown state sponsored civil war since 2014. I like stone but he is very biased towards Russia. no consideration to the land corridor that they want to the black sea improving the control over Crimea. Russia made a big mistake by invading more than just the contested regions and underestimated the response and resolve of the Ukrainian armed forces and the support of the West.

Russia is good at what they are doing and it is a question of how much territory will be allowed in the Western half of Ukraine. Really the big question Is Odessa where Nazi mobs burned 30 people alive in 2014. Will Putin fight on behalf of Odessa? To free them from the thugs?
