If they dare listen to "Strokin" Shawn will definitely say "Whoa Nelly" on repeat.....ha ha ha When "Strokin" was a hit back in the 80's, a lady who l worked with, who l thought was 'prim and proper', it was her guilty pleasure tune. (Cannot judge a book by it's cover)

I never cared for the subject matter of this song, but I always loved the way it sounded and was put together. The musicianship is first rate and Clarence Carter's voice and guitar playing are as good as it gets. This song was a big hit. In those days, when you had a big hit, the record company would want you to do a follow-up. Often the follow-up would sound very similar to the original hit. Sure enough, Clarence Carter eventually came up with a follow-up to "Slip Away" called "Can We Slip Away Again."

I see you guys did react to " Slip Away" . I love your reaction when he said ( without him knowing your're gone). Clarence Carter didn't play. Asking her to cheat, but i know it's just a song, and a great one at that. Another 2 great soul classics from that era was " Sittin in The Park" by Billy Stewart and " Take Time To Know Her" by Percy Sledge. RIP to both of them.
