I am also Korean-American and I feel the same way. I think people take it way too far with cultural appropriation. I think asian representation is great if it's tastefully done. There are so many brands that came out with lunar new year themes but they don't get any backlash for it. It's not like this palette depicted asian people with slanted eyes on its packaging. If I saw this palette without seeing everyone's response to it, I would think oh it's just another themed palette. It's sad how I grew up in SoCal in a predominantly ASIAN community and was STILL bullied for being asian and told to go back to my country. Now I live in a predominantly white community on the east coast and I definitely feel the isolation here. The first thing I heard when I moved here was from a small child that told his brother "don't go near her, she could have covid." I never leave the house now.

I can’t even begin to imagine what it’s like to try and live right now if you’re any type of Asian decent first off the Culture is lumped all together with zero thought as to just how many different cultures live within Asian decent, it’s like saying every Caucasian person was born in Germany obviously that is so not true so why assume that for other Races of people we are in 2021 when is the cruelty of others going to stop!

I’m Filipino. I don’t expect a non-Asian person or company to fully understand Asian culture. However, if a company wanted to make an “Asian inspired” product, whatever it may be, and it is presented in a respectful manner with obvious thought behind it, I don’t look at that as offensive. The idea that a non-Asian person or company is NOT ALLOWED to use Asian imagery in any way, shape, or form, is ridiculous to me. Now, is this specific palette offensive? No idea, I’ve never heard of it, or this brand for that matter, before this video. Just based on the travel theme of the company and products, it seems to fall in line with the overall spirit. So I could care less to be honest. I understand people may not agree with me, and that’s ok! This is just my opinion and my thoughts on the matter. Would love to hear yours ❤️

As an Asian person, or even mixed race, we are constantly gas lit to think that the abuse we are bombarded with from people who don't care to respect us or our culture, push the idea that we are "too sensitive" and "over reacting." They thought the same thing when Trump cracked "jokes" and put full blame on China for COVID despite the US refusing to take any precautions to get this under control... His followers took this as ALL Asians. Elderly Asian people are being murdered and assaulted because of those types of anti-Asian remarks to go unchecked by anyone, We were told then too it's "just a joke" "don't be so sensitive" "Kung-Flu is funny!" but now we are literally facing life or death for being outside of our homes, minding our own business, and white people couldn't care less if who they assault or kill is actually Chinese... No one ever confirms if we are anything but a blanketed "Asian" before screaming slurs at us. I've never once heard or been called a Korean slur.. I'm called Chinese and Japanese slurs to no end. I hope that you will follow the links to my IG that Jen has provided, and read for yourself as to why this may not be something even Asian people initially see as something that was appropriative and not made with respect for the culture, but to simply profit from it. Rainbow shouldn't make you thing "Chinese culture" and "Shanghai" google the shade names and see what I mean by nothing being well thought out... In response to video calls: since school has been digital for many students most of this school year, there have been research and studies on how this is affecting students. I teach middle school and spent so long trying to get my students to turn their cameras on so I could see their reactions and better gauge their understanding. The studies are suggesting most students don't want to turn their cameras on so they don't have to see themselves. Google Meet (a main platform for K-12 class conferences) does not have a feature to turn off seeing your own video. I was under the impression my kids didn't want others to see them, but it is actually that they don't want to see themselves all day long. Most of us weren't use to seeing our own faces all day long, so imagine having to do that as a teenager...

Like others, I'm not Asian so it doesn't impact me directly. However, I lived in Korea for many years and am married to a native Korean. I showed him this clip and he said he would be proud to have a Seoul palette. The brand is about travel and beautiful places all over the world. Besides, what makes it not okay for one location, but no problem for all of the other places? If the company wasn't about travel then I think it would hit different. Also, I don't think they really trashed talked China either. They just said that our cultures are very different which can be an intimidating thing when all you know is one side. They just said that despite the differences, people are warm and welcoming everywhere. Those are things we ALL know. Also, the Orient Express has nothing to do with Asians within this palette. It is just about the fancy train in this context.

I don't even want to know what they have to say to continue to alienate more Asian people and make non-Asians continue to cling to Nomad's words of othering other races, that they can continue to talk over us. Your husband I doubt is within the beauty space. And does not know the issues going on here and the extremely racist and anti-asian behavior Nomad has shown in their lack of accountability, and screenshots I have for the public to see in my highlights. 2nd and 3rd most recent IG posts are the recap and why this is so damaging. Thank you if you take the time to read, I appreciate it. Please don't let a brand make a fool of you like this, and make you say or think insensitive things on a culture that isn't yours either... Oh WOW I did not know they still sent him or ever sent him products... When he makes fun of very rich influencers for "being poor" I can't imagine what he says about makeup you don't need to put on a credit card to even afford... Nomad made this situation not just racially insensitive.. but because they NEVER in the like 5 apology attempts they tried to make.. actually explained WHY they hurt people or HOW they hurt people and why cultural appropriation and racial insensitivity, especially against China with the rise in hate crimes, perpetuated the really disturbing anti-Asian racism in their comment section.. that they won't moderate. They never denounced the racism coming from their customers prior to pulling the palette, nor after, and made this seem like it's "hurt feelings" when stereotypes and racist product descriptions to already eager to be Anti-Asian followers, can do us very real harm.. And even now, if they DID finally take real accountability, they would not make much of a difference.. They planted that seed that this was simply "Asian's being too sensitive" when it's literally on me, for being pissed as hell that people profit off Asian culture, even as we are dying in the streets, and stay silent... And only make 10% "donations" [we still do not know where it went or if it is ever going to be donated..] when it makes the brand look good to say they "stand in solidarity" with no mention of why they feel this way and the harm the palette unintentionally caused.. It looked like a way for people to "care" about the AAPI community violence.. it turned into a way to make more money for them as a company and line their already over flowing pockets as white people who travel the world and still afford to do makeup launches.. Jen has my IG linked in the desciption, the 2nd and 3rd most recent photos are a full recap on what all happened with the Nomad situation up to present day. Nomad has a Cartegana palette based on the city in Colombia. I grew up there before moving to the U.S. & still have family there... I definitely felt weird when it launched. I was excited to have a palette to represent my country, but felt like if I purchased it, I was funding a white couple's bank account to travel the world, something my family still living in Colombia can only ever dream of & will never be able to experience. Made me feel almost like Colombia was just a petting zoo. I never voiced this because I felt like I was maybe exaggerating, as I didn't see anyone else sharing my sentiments. I'm glad to see the Chinese American community voicing these concerns. I feel a lot less alone & crazy from how I felt about the Cartegana palette. It disheartens me to see SOOO many white people talk about this as if they have a say in what is or isn't okay in somebody else's culture. Watering down these concerns as just cancel culture or "people being snowflakes." If it's not your culture, it's not your place.

my issue with beauty fridges is not the question of whether they're a gimmick. It's the waste. I don't suppose one single fridge wastes much electricity but if it's a trend and many people plug them in... what's the point of wanting sustainable packaging, biodegradable glitter and whatnot and then wasting electricity on something that is, arguably, frivolous. many people keep meds in their house fridges, I don't see why a serum or something deserves their own fridge. so long as our house fridge is clean and these products are stored separately in a sanitary way...

I know the owner of Nomad cosmetics. She is so very kind and gentle and understanding. She always looks for constructive dialogue and is open to conversation. I am from Iran, a country that is not on the best of terms with the US government. Many people on IG ignored me the minute I told them where I was from. But she called me a friend and we kept talking and we have been friends ever since. If she were the kind of person to disrespect a culture or the people that belong to that culture, Iran would be her best option. I have been ignored by "white" people so many times and I have been judged based on the actions of the Iranian government, so I can tell when someone is being racist. That's why I think there has been a great misunderstanding. It is always different when you visit a country as a tourist and she designed the palette based on her experience as a tourist. BUT again, although I have been a victim of racial discrimination many many times, the apology is still not mine to accept. When the pandemic hit the world I was so angry at people here as they openly blamed it on the Chinese people. I have lived in the US enough to appreciate cultural diversity and understand why people of certain cultures find some remarks offensive. Here, because the Chinese government is an ally of the Iranian government, people tend to be unkind towards everything and everyone that is Chinese. I kept messaging people on my IG account, asking them not to bash a whole culture and they never understood the point I was making. I was so sad when I read news of attacks on Chinese people in other countries and my heart broke for them. I know how difficult a time it is for anyone from that region. Although I can see how this might have affected the Asian community, I am still in no place to voice an opinion because I don't have the knowledge and I am aware that I need to learn more. Also, because I know and respect the founder of the brand, anything I say in their support could potentially be biased. I just know she has a very kind heart and won't purposefully do something to make people feel bad. I just hope this will turn into a constructive dialogue with positive outcomes and mutual understanding. And I will strive to do more research and educate myself too. There is a lot I don't know and I am open to learning and understanding

instagram.com/p/CLc9zbsJEwQ/?igshid=1v29yt9zskyp8 I encourage you to read this recap and look at the screenshots in the highlights of the owner of this brand asking Asian women being harassed by racists in their comments (that they never once denounced or told them to stop) if they could completely delete ALL comments, but only leave theirs replying to her... As if they didn't let over 70 racist comments go without a glance for over a week solid. She is also not giving any actual reason for people to understand why this palette was an issue, or even why they decided to back track on telling me they can't and won't pull this (when I never asked for that to start, which is why I'm very confused at this decision out of the blue). She also went as far to get a "no, please leave them for accountability" from the Woman they reached out to... only to go and sneak to shut off the entire comment section and hide all evidence that anyone spoke out at all on the 2 posts where Asian people were trying to have their voices heard. Just because someone hasn't been bad or mean or flat out awful to you, does not mean that they are like that to everyone. Especially the people they are trying to use in order to profit from a culture that is not a place for white people to get quick cash from.... If you are close, then I am genuinely sorry if the screenshots are upsetting to see. A lot of people I expected to stand with us in this situation, bailed completely and it was the absolute last thing I ever expected from people who treated me with so much kindness.. until they needed to really show solidarity... I genuinely believed her as well in the beginning... But their behavior of trying to outright gas light me under 15 minutes after I by complete chance (checking to see if the racism was addressed) saw the the comments were actually completely gone and shut off, and they were not tagged in that shared screenshots of the comments being off, at all... while their 10% donation post was kept on where people were then praising them again... I'm hoping this helps you see what was going on behind the scenes and really kept away from everyone... And had I not reached out to the people in the comments that didn't have comments completely deleted.. we wouldn't have began to realize that none of their apologies were as sincere as we had hoped...

I'm Chinese and I LOVED the Nomad palette and was completely uninspired by the BH palette. To me the BH palette was just another run of the mill "let's dilute Chinese culture down to nothing more than shades of the two colors of its national flag, then let's add some pops of green because they wear lots of jade, right?" palette. Soooo many Chinese- themed palettes do this same thing. I loved that Nomad saw Chinese people as vibrant and diverse, and deserving of something more than just another heavy reds and golds palette. The Nomad palette only had one red pan in the whole palette. Yes, there were the pops of green too, but there were also all kinds of beautiful, vibrant colors that evoked mental images of beautiful cheongsams (traditional silk Chinese dresses) and other sights around China. I thought the Nomad palette was more thoughtful and had a much better execution in honoring my culture that BH's. I thought the artistic conceptualization of Yin Yang was very well executed. Yin Yang is about balance: feminine vs. masculine, light vs. dark, aggressive vs demure, etc. The muted matte shades really fit with the concept of yin (more demure) energy and the shimmery, shades fit the the more aggressive and firey yang energy. Like the symbol itself (where even the Yin holds a bit of Yang energy and vice-versa---just like women can exude masculine energy and men can exude feminine energy) I loved that they even put one pan of "Sun" (a yang energy) on the yin side and the pan of "Moon" (a yin energy) on the yang side of the palette.

This causes harm to the entire AAPI community. Especially when they do not denounce or ask their customer base to stop being racist and anti-asian at a time where we are being brutalized, slashed across the face with knives, stabbed in grocery stores, or shoved and killed in the streets. It puts blame on Asian people, not the company who decided to try to profit from exoticism and tokenize their Asian niece as an excuse for why they should be able to profit from a race and culture that is not theirs as white brand owneres.

I have all the screenshots on my IG if you would like to see how Nomad tried to delete comments yesterday of Asian people trying to speak out on this. Issuing multiple apologies with no mention of WHY this was so harmful, and shut comments off so no one could explain. They turned them back on, and are not addressing their blatantly racist customers that went far beyond just being bummed they won't get this palette til it's likely rebranded. They are not as sorry as we thought they were or hoped they would be. They want this situation to disappear at the expense of the amount of racism, harassment, hate, and verbal abuse Asian people were slapped with in their comment section.. Any word on appropriation being mentioned, gets a "SORRY looks like this has been reported and banned too many times!" so Asian people cannot even get to you to explain or show you the proof that this company was trying to be extremely deceptive, and drag their own customers down with them by intentionally leaving them uneducated. I hope you're willing to read, and willing to see what transpired, and hopefully understand why Nomad's response about the palette from day one to present, was never real accountability, and definitely not solidarity with the AAPI community.

I’m Korean, Ecuadorian, and Czech, and my belief system incorporates the Taoist concept of Yin and Yang. 12 minutes in and wasn’t offended at all by Nomad. One example of something that offended and annoyed me: when Gwen Stefani kept a whole crew of “stereotypically cutesy, quirky” Asian girls as part of her Harajuku crew. She kept them with her as living, breathing, dancing props. There are rumors that she made them sign a contract requiring them to only speak Japanese in public (pretty sure they were all native English speakers or were at least fluent). She built a whole era and aesthetic around it. It was super cringe, and nobody seemed to find it offensive but Asian folks. Sadly, Asian voices were largely drowned out or ignored, so nobody really cared. Then again, Gwen has been kind of known for cultural appropriation since the dawn of her music career. I have loved Gwen since the early No Doubt days, but yeah, sometimes her cultural appreciation crosses into appropriation FOR SURE.

As a Korean person, I would like to ask you to consider why you don't take offense to harmful racial stereotypes in makeup form, versus seeing something more obvious, Gwen Stefani using Asian women as proper with no acknowledgement or understand as to why that was wrong if not flat out disgusting to see.. Pushing the "doll" and "submissive" Asian stereotype. They did not do justice to China's cultural roots and the religious roots tied to Yin Yang, and continue to use the world "oriental" regardless of english translation, when they have spoken at length with even their PR list of people, and they promised it wouldn't happen again... but was repeated in the Shanghai palette. We are told daily how we are being too sensitive when racism isn't in our face as a slur, physical violence, or being run around like a dog for a white woman to profit off of. I hope you will take the time to read my break down as to why it was so difficult for many Chinese Americans and other Asian people to call this issue out... Seeing hundreds of people only gush and in awe at this palette, makes you think you are being too sensitive, when this causes direct harm to the Asian community and continues to normalized profiting from exoticism and exploitation of other races and cultures.

@@en.v5965 My response was based purely on what was in the first 12 minutes of this video. I definitely do not support the fact that they promised it wouldn’t happen again and then repeated it (I wasn’t aware of said promises as I haven’t followed them for very long) as that implies willful ignorance. I probably should’ve been more specific and stated that I wasn’t offended by the term “Orient Express” (I certainly wouldn’t have named it that, though), but if they called it the “Oriental Girl Palette,” I would’ve had something else to say. From the pictures Jen posted, I also wasn’t offended by the seemingly very loose use of Yin and Yang symbology in the Shanghai palette. Is it my fave thing ever? Of course not. Am I deeply offended? No. Am I disappointed after learning further information about the brand controversy from you? Absolutely. I was underwhelmed when I saw the color story and palette itself, and I agree with you that the whole vibe is indeed lacking and doesn’t necessarily showcase the complex beauty and richness of the country, history, culture, and people of China.

Instead of the white people and non asian people below this comment trying to speak over the Asian people who were reassured their upset was valid, and their discomfort from the beginning but not being able to put a finger on *why* is because of constant racial gas lighting. You telling us we are "too sensitive" when especially as a white person, you do not experience racism, and you don't get to decide what is and isn't harming a race and culture that is not yours, and not any of your lived experiences. My IG link is in Jen's video description, There are screenshots from Nomad and how they tried to hide this incident entirely. Racism and appropriation goes far past hurt feelings. And if you're not BIPOC or NBPOC this isn't something that will likely register with you. And we can't expect it to when these aren't your struggles, abuse, and hardship to face. But we can extend the option for you to further educate yourself not just on Nomad cosmetics trying to be really shady about this and delete comments from Asian people speaking on this... But never once explaining WHY this was harmful. Just that they "hurt feelings" minimizing the severity of exoticism and fetishizing Asian cultures for profits, whlie going no justice to the culture they're representing. . Not only was it racially insensitive, but a rainbow palette should not scream "Shanghai " to you... Please google the shade names and see the colors not corresponding with any shade names.. It was haphazardly put together to release and capitalize on Lunar New Year. It was a cash grab, and they have yet to acknowledge why this was an issue and didn't leave anything up for accountability or evidence of improvement in the future.

As a Chinese, more research should have been done on Shanghai or simply involved a Chinese to take charge of the palette, instead of focusing on Yin Yang. Shade names and colour story weren't also the best representation, why put the updated hotel name "Fullerton Peace" with Fullerton being an international chain of hotels instead of the more well known name of Peace Hotel? Yang refers to light should have been muted, not pink Dragon 青龙 should have been blue to represent Shanghai's official colour The traditional side should have represented China's architectural style - Shikumen by including brick red shades Why was there no jade- considering the significance of jade in chinese culture? Someone from Angelica Nyqvist's video commented this " Shanghai is bright jewel tones, elegant cool tones, and sweet pops of color. It's a very sophisticated city, and this color story doesn't reflect that." In addition, more info on Shanghai's culture: "Its culture was never eclipsed by the influences of the West. Shanghai was the birthplace of Chinese cinema, served as a battleground for socialist/realist writers and the “bourgeois”-oriented writers, and was an early adopter of Western fashion. Yet the traditional culture flourished all the same. Those things characteristically Shanghai have come to be known as haipai wenhua, 海派文化 denoting that very same mixture of traditional Jiangsu-Zhejiang-Shanghai culture with Western culture. During the late Qing and throughout the twentieth century, Shanghai was a very important center for traditional Chinese painting, theater and literature. Perhaps this early brush with modernity and Shanghai’s position at the cutting edge among Chinese cities has led to the sophisticated, cosmopolitan lifestyle led by its residents. Even with all the rush for progress, there will always be uniquely Shanghai customs that never die. " To add on for my fellow asians living in Asia who see no wrong in it: As Chinese people living in Asia, we have not undergone the racism our Asian Americans have faced. What we see is something done to promote a culture out of respect. however as people who grew up there, they had to tolerate racism abuse for simply being Chinese, called racist slurs for being different, they have NOT been met with mutual respect when they share their culture. Because of their experiences being bullied for showing their culture, this has led to some of them being afraid to showcase their culture and "Americanize" it OUT OF THE FEAR OF BEING INSULTED AND ABUSED. Our culture was not respected there, which leads to the issue cultural appropriation where brands simply take our culture to profit off it without actually respecting it.

Traveling to another country and experiencing it as a tourist and watering down the deep cultural significance and religious roots behind the often over used yin yang stereotype associated with the Chinese. They are also allowing extreme anti-asian and flat out god awful racist remarks, to be kept up on their comment section... while Asian people get a "Sorry you can't post that, it looks like similar comments that have been reported and removed" so they can't even defend themselves or try to educate anyone. Nomad was never transparent with you or anyone as to why this palette was so harmful. Especially during a time where the Asian community has seen a horrifying spike in hate crimes through 2020-2021.. And encouraging that anti-asian all-to-blame idea to their customers... and honestly setting them up to look very ignorant and very self centered and completely uncaring for people other than themselves. They tokenized their under age niece as to why this palette was made... rather than taking any accountability for needing to put more thought into it.

It goes on to talk about how this palette was to show the "HUMAN" side.... and how China is seen in a very different way than westernized places.. like it's because it's a 2nd world country or something.. It just went from bad to worse, and the palette went from simply being appropriation and shallow stereotypes and a colorstory that made no sense... to honestly just being out right racist to push the idea that Chinese people are so shockingly "just like them" as white people....

I am Chinese Canadian and I've worked for a fast fashion company to launch a Chinese New Year collection and I have a few issues with the Shanghai palette and Nomad cosmetics. 1) They used random colors and named them after touristic spots in the city. It's a shallow representation of what the city has to offer. That's not so bad in itself but there's more. 2) The first youtubers who got PR to review were all non-Asian except for one. This shows that they're excluding the Asian consumers from their target audience and the conversation. They're showing here that they don't care what Asian people think about their Asia inspired palette 3) They knew anti Asian sentiment was high in 2020 which was why they delayed the launch but won't admit the real reason. This is a bit shady to me. 4) When they got called out on social media they didn't respond well. Their response was to deny that they ever did wrong and then gaslighting those who called them out. This is hugely problematic. 5) Their apology didn't specify what they're apologizing for. To me that's not a proper apology. Also highly problematic. If you broke your mother's vase, you would say "Sorry for breaking your vase mom. Can I replace it for you?" Nomad's apology sounds more like "I'm sorry I got caught." For all these reasons I will not support the brand and I will dissuade others from supporting the brand until they show real understanding and remorse.

In contrast, when I worked on a Chinese New Year collection, it was an international brand where the project was initiated and run by a Hongkongese Canadian product leader and a Hongkongnese marketing leader. They were my bosses. The entire collection was meant for the Chinese population and the diaspora living in southeast Asia and North America. The goal was to provide a celebratory collection to meet a market demand. The only words used were "happy new year" because for the purpose of the collection, those words were enough. All other non-Asian team members who worked on the project was briefed by me on what holiday meant for people who celebrate it and all marketing materials and communications passes several rounds of approval by employees from China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan, Philippines and elsewhere. For brands that are listening, this would be a good way to launch something specifically for Chinese New Year: have Asian voices along the production and marketing process to cater to an Asian audience.

I’m Chinese as in Grew up in Hong Kong, Singapore and China. I’m not offended by the Nomad palette. Chinese use Yin yang as marketing gimmick all the time. As for the orient express it’s based on a long standing luxury train that still operates today. Due to the fact that the company is based on traveling it’s not surprise to me that they would find inspiration from the orient express. Personally I think A lot of American Chinese do not understand their own culture, they are fed an “Americanize” version. There are many different Chinese all over the world. And in each country they have their version of Chinese and Chinese culture. There are way more important things to focus on with China and actual cultural appropriation then a palette. It’s not that deep.

I guess as Chinese people living in Asia, we have not undergone the racism our Asian Americans have faced. What we see is something done to promote a culture out of respect. however as people who grew up there, they had to tolerate racism abuse for simply being Chinese, called racist slurs for being different, they have NOT been met with mutual respect when they share their culture. Because of their experiences being bullied for showing their culture, this has led to some of them being afraid to showcase their culture and "Americanize" their culture in your definition. Our culture was not respected there, which leads to the issue cultural appropriation where brands simply take our culture to profit off it without actually respecting it.

My experience has not been what you have described and it might be because I have a strong sense of identity due to my upbringing and understand the concept of assimilating into a different country while holding true to my heritage. The palette is not offensive to me and Chinese culture is celebrated throughout USA. We can't have it both ways, we can't criticize people for "cultural appropriating" and want them to celebrate our culture at the same time. how are they supposed to celebrate when being Chinese is not very defined depending on the country. When Chinese as a whole don't even agree on a lot of things. Most Chinese in China are not even religious, you know being that there is a communist regime there and Taoism (ying/yang origin) has been suppressed by the government. Manuscripts and temples were burned down, monks executed or sent to reeducation camps during the cultural revolution entire chunks of history is lost. hence over the years the whole yin yang Taoism has been so muddied. At the end of the day, for my personal mental capacity there are more serious issue to be offended by and a cute palette by a small cool company to me aint it. As someone with a very consistent, shortish skincare routine, I go through my products within a couple months and any product should be able to handle that. The majority of my products are from the drugstore where they first were created in a lab, then stored in a warehouse, then stored in the back of the store, then put on the shelf, then sat in my cabinet until I was ready to use them (I sometimes buy multiples of my products when they’re on sale because I tend to use the same things over and over). At no point in that system was the product refrigerated. I don't get to say how people should feel about the Nomad situation, but I can somewhat relate to it. The culture I grew up in had been used in fashion and art in a very reduced way, sometimes ignoring cultural meaning, sometimes promoting harmful stereotypes, but I looked at that from the standpoint "hopefully someone gets curious about it, and continues learning on their own from better sources". It doesn't seem that some folks' issue with Nomad is them presenting the culture in a negative light, and then my question is, "are we expecting a makeup company to be our educators?"
@en.v5965

We should expect companies to be educators instead of doing what Nomad is doing right now... Intentionally withholding informative information on what is actually happening, and how they tried to complete delete all comments of Asian people explaining why this was so problematic, especially as hate crimes are rising at a ridiculous rate in the US toward Asian Americans. instagram.com/p/CLc9zbsJEwQ/?igshid=1v29yt9zskyp8 the first two posts, and the highlights go indepth about what is being completely hidden from Nomad's customers.. They want people to remain ignorant or literally confused (I'm confused, seriously would love to find out how they went from pretending to be sorry and hiding comments.. to pulling the palette at all? last thing anyone expected, honesty.) They want people to blindly defend the brand, no matter how ignorant, bigoted, or literally flat out anti-Asian and racist people become in the comment section... They are making their customers make a fool of themselves for literally know no better.. so they can profit even more from their next launch in August.... If the palette alone is out of reach for people to understand even with indepth info on such... Be upset and angry that a company WANTS you to be completely clueless about a situation so they can monetize it...

For us to live together without being offended by everything, there has to be MUTUAL respect for people regardless of the colour of their skin, ethnicity, race etc which means a lot of issues needs to be tackled e.g racism, anti-semitism. A question to consider before responding to such issues: "Why are people offended?" The answer is simple, because people have not been treated with equal respect. Chinese Americans get abused, insulted, thrown racial slurs for simply existing - eating their food, looking different. Yet, when such palettes created by brands are praised for showing a marginalised culture, people have the right to be offended when they weren't met with reciprocal respect.

I know you have limited time but since you touched that subject, I believe you should clarify so that people know the who story. Long story short: Indian government passé law as that will end up destroying small and middle size farmers in long run, and they have been protesting for last 5-6 months. What does that have to do with Fenty you ask?? Rihanna tweeted about I humane treatment by Indian government towards the farmers who have been PEACEFULLY protesting. They took away their water, electricity and internet service in whole area where they gathered and have been sitting for last few months All she tweeted was. “Why aren’t we talking about this” and whole Indian government (who have tried genocide in 1984 of a community who are majority farmers) said everything about Rihanna; that she is foreign influence paid by this country and that and much more. Indians know how this government “finds” illegal stuff about people who dare to talk against government. I 100% believe (I’m Indian and have seen this thing happening with too many people for it to be co-incidence) that’s what it is, but you don’t have to. If you have some time, I would love if you could update that this Mica thing could very well be a comeback of Indian government at Rihanna. Thank you

They reached out directly to a woman being harassed for over a week with racist comments... to ask if they could delete all evidence this type of behavior was happening.. instead of addressing their customers to stop the anti-asian and racist behavior and belligerence in the comments.. I don't know why they pulled the palette after telling me they couldn't. Which obviously , understandable, they were already produced. But I asked for accountability and for this to not be a 4th repeat of racial insensitivity... Instead of telling anyone on their IG WHY this was harmful... they put the blame on Asian people as if we are "too sensitive" but they knew they were in the wrong when they tried to hide the comment section entirely on the only 2 posts that got a large amount of backlash that was buried under defensive racist behavior... Even if they didn't intend to appropriate or misrepresent Shanghai and the Chinese culture.. it still happened.. and harm can be done with even the best intentions.

Primers are meant for all day wear on the face and they lock in your skincare while creating a barrier with the mask. If you are looking for SPF, I have found the Kroger version of Supergoop works in the same way plus the added benefit of sunscreen. I’ve heard a few people say using blotting sheets throughout the day where your mask is, helps remove some of the oils instead of letting them build up all day.

(ARRGH! I had typed a whole two-paragraph comment about 30 minutes ago, and KZitem ate it!) So, I have a mini fridge for my skincare products that I’ve had for over a year, and it was about $60 or so. That didn’t seem expensive at the time, and it was my birthday month, so I splurged on myself a little. I like having it keep products cool - I live in Florida, I just went through menopause and it definitely felt soothing physically and emotionally to use a chilled serum, toner, and eye drops (dry eye). I also just finished my 3rd week back to work after being unemployed since last March. Maskne hit me pretty hard at first, so I learned on my own to not rewear a mask for more than a day, and to wash and moisturize my face as soon as I get home from work. I had to also back off from any exfoliating products for a while until my skin’s moisture barrier healed.

I quickly became disappointed with it for two reasons: the door mechanism was just not well designed so the door would easily pop open and the second reason was that the fridge would pool water inside, soaking my products. Contacted the manufacturer and tried all their suggestions. Sent it back after a month of use. My skincare has survived just fine without it.
