Nope. In the book its made clear that being silenced is the worst thing that can be done to a person.if youre silenced you lose your power and your potential. Chief realises he's let himself be silenced by watching and listening to McMurphy. In the end, Ratched silences Billy, McMurphy silences Ratched, and McMurphy is silenced by the system that Ratched runs. And Chief escapes to a new life, having learned that.

I thought the scene was a lot more emotional in the book since it's from Chiefs POV and you know how desperately he want to engage in conversation with McMurphy to warn him about the combine (and to finally speak after a decade). I always felt that Ken Kesey had a very modern, very sensitively perceptive and open minded appreciation of the Native Americans in his book, particularly where Bromden remembers his past. I loved his Uncle Running and Jumping Fox (I think his name was). I also felt, from what I understand of Native American culture, that Bromden's choice to let everyone think he was deaf mute seems realistic for the cultures of Native American people, in that they value silence and stoicism, and at the same time, people's ignorance gives Bromden an edge over them, an advantage.

I asked him why did he pretend to be stupid and the village fool when he wasn’t it was the Moment for me like when Jack Nicholson realised. He had been given electric shock treatment and discussed it in detail. It wasn’t Juicy fruit for us it was Spam sandwiches. RIP Keith. If ever there was a magic moment in cinema and acting ability at its highest, Jack Nicolson and his counterpart show us why. I have never acted, but in my opinion acting is the most challenging and difficult of all the arts. Why do I say that? Because actors are like paintings and sculptures that come alive and when they momentarily take us away from everything and anything we're aware of, it is only then that your realize something extraordinary has happened. Moreover, the most beautiful and humble and gracious acknowledgement of Nicolson's achievement came from none other, Michael Douglas, who's father I believed wanted to do the role and it was Douglas who bought the rights to One Flew Over the Coocoo’s Nest. Michael Douglas said the same thing, that Nicolson was the not only the right man for the part, but the only one who could pull it off with perfection. I love the movies!!

This Indian played Taylor in Poltergeist 2 and sadly died in 1987 after a heart and lung transplant around the same time Carol Anne died at age 12 and the referent from Poltergeist 2 died at 60yr. That's what I find most horrified about Poltergeist 2 and 3. He was such a good person.

GaryKildall Will Samson was Muskogee Creek and my father's mother's brother. He practiced art, his son, Tim, also acted, and his other son, Samsoche, performs with the Lakota rapper Frank Waln. I'm glad you like him. 😊
