Tina tries to bluff that cops are all over and Johnny needs to leave so he doesn\t get caught, but Johnny knows all the cops were reassigned when they thought he was dead. Johnny says she’s coming with him to South America where no one will ever find them. Max advises Cord to keep one thing in mind: he and Tina love each other. He warns neither one of them will be happy with someone else. In her wheelchair at the foot of the stairs, Viki prays for the strength to help Tina and save her from Johnny. She struggles to stand but is unable to pull herself upright. Niki taunts her, saying she let Sarah down when she called for help and now she’s letting Tina down to. Niki clearly gets under her skin this time and Viki makes another attempt to get up. When she collapses back into her chair out of exhaustion, Niki says (out loud this time) that she’s taking over and will save Tina. She stands, though still with difficulty, and begins, very slowly, to climb the stairs. Tina tries to hold off Johnny. She says he’s ruined her life and finally tells him the only reason she slept with him on Badderly was to protect Cord and the others. Johnny doesn’t believe her, but she says she hated every second of it and she hated being touched by him. She says she’ll never let him anywhere near the baby and she’ll make sure it doesn’t grow up anything like Johnny. Johnny misses the point and all he hears is Tina finally confirming what he’s insisted all along, that the baby is his. He grabs her and kisses her, and she struggles, trying to get away. In the struggle, Johnny knocks her to the ground and she is left unconscious.
Niki makes it up the stairs and confronts Johnny, asking what he did to Tina. Niki tells him to get out of there and leave Tina alone, but Johnny says he’s taking Tina with him. When she tries to get to Tina, Johnny easily knocks Niki to the ground. Johnny picks Tina up and begins to carry her towards the door, but Niki recovers quickly and shoves Johnny’s own gun (abandoned when he knocked Tina down) in Johnny’s back. She tells him top take Tina back to the bed, which he does. Niki tells Johnny he can either get out or wait for the cops to come, but Johnny doesn’t want to go withoutTina and doubts that Viki-whom he doesn’t realize he is no longer feeling with-would shoot him in cold blood if he fails to comply. He steps towards her and tries to get the gun, but Niki holds on and knocks Johnny to the ground. He gets up and says he will kill everyone who gets between him and Tina. As Johnny advances again, Niki pulls the trigger and Johnny, clutching his chest, crumples to the ground. Viki seems to reemerge, confused about her surroundings. She tries to revive Tina, but then stumbles out of the room. Johnny, bleeding from the chest, gasps for air. We see the tape recorder Tina used to record her message to Cord is still running. Downstairs, Viki walks past her wheelchair into the library but then collapses on the floor. Dan and the others find the gasoline cans discarded outside the cabin, but Greg is nowhere in sight. Dan says they’re going back to down and he is going to confront Greg. Gabrielle lets herself in to Llanfair. She calls for Tina and looks briefly into the library, but does not see Viki, unconscious, just around the corner. She is about to leave when she hears a noise upstairs and goes up to Tina’s room to find Johnny apparently dead on the floor and Tina unconscious on the bed. She’s happy to see Tina is still alive and she goes to the door to call for help (though Viki had sent the servants home earlier). Johnny grabs Gabrielle’s leg as she tried to pick up the phone, and he tells her this is all her fault and that he’ll make her pay. Gabrielle says he needs to let her call an ambulance. Johnny says she double crossed him, and tries to reach for the gun, but Gabrielle gets there first. She doesn’t have time to use the gun, though, because Johnny expires. Gabrielle calls 911 and, disguising her voice, says there has been a shooting at Llanfair. Fearing she will shoulder the blame for the shooting, she wipes her prints-and Viki’s-off the gun and phone. It’s then that she sees the still-recording tape player. She ejects the tape and pockets it before wiping the player down too and leaving.
