Betty Streng suffered a traumatic brain injury at the Waukesha Christmas Parade last November, including multiple skull fractures, brain bleeds and brain swelling, and was taken to Aurora Medical Center - Summit.
Dr. Christopher Sarkiss, neurosurgeon at Aurora St. Luke’s in Milwaukee, rushed to Summit to help those injured and performed emergency surgery on Betty. She recovered in the ICU for 10 days over the Thanksgiving holiday and was well enough to return home two weeks after sustaining her injuries.
Betty’s road to recovery continued with intensive rehab at Aurora St. Luke’s with the help of the neurology, physical therapy and rehab teams. By March, Betty was back to performing and continues to thrive with the Milwaukee Dancing Grannies. Keep dancing, Betty! Your bravery and perseverance continue to inspire us.
