Hey Russ, I think you said in your video that you upgraded the drivers to the latest AMD ones that just came out a week or so ago. Apparently there’s an issue with those ones and they actually decrease performance compared to the previous drivers. I’ve seen both The Phawx and Digital Foundry post on Twitter about it and a few news sites reporting it too. Would it be possible to look into this and maybe compare one of your other 7840u handhelds that you haven’t upgraded yet to the Onexfly with the latest drivers.

Somehow I have a little more confidence with OneNetbook as a company. I have the OneMix4 and the build quality is excellent. I also follow most gaming handheld subreddits, and OneNetbook/OneX has the least amount of complaints, duds, RMAs, and general issues with their products after they ship. It seems they take product R&D, and Quality Control and Assurance seriously. The OneXfly is already looking like one of the best contenders even against the GPD win 4 and the ROG Ally. But I'm still waiting for a model that is as small as the OneXfly or smaller that atleast has a couple rear programmable buttons. Even a pro version of the OneXfly with just that would be on top of the handheld tier list for me. Second place would be the GPD win 4 for all of the features it packs for the size. I'm not touching anything Ayaneo though, too many red flags over there. Edit: Somehow despite being a sister company to AOKZOE, i don't trust that brand, it's kind of like the Oneplus vs Oppo, I'd trust Oneplus or OneNetbook in this case over Oppo or AOKZOE, the latter ones are a bit shady.

This is probably a minority opinion, but I really love this barebones launcher on my A1. Because it does nothing other than show a grid of games and allow you to launch them, it's super, super fast. It starts basically immediately, going through the list of games is completely lag-free - nothing has to be loaded when you select a game, because it shows no metadata. There are some things that are missing, for example, it doesn't seem to find Steam games that aren't on the main drive, but other than fixing those problems, I really hope they don't bog it down with tons of features. I don't need this to be a games downloader, I don't need it to integrate with stores, I don't need it to delete games for me, I just need it to be a super fast games launcher.

Please comment on how easy it is to upgrade the SSD (if possible). I briefly viewed the upgrade options for anything higher than 512GB and paying over a $1000 U.S. is a very tough pill to swallow when you can get an Asus ROG Ally for less than $800 and buy a value priced 1T or 2TB SSD. Also consider that this is a crowd funded endeavour and that buyers will be waiting months to get their hands on it and the potential downsides of having to return the device back overseas if something goes wrong. I'm spoiled by the customer service of Valve on their Steam Deck and the Ally's Best Buy return policy.

It's a little tougher with handhelds because they don't have those flared grips that you can find on PS controllers to help balance everything. Without those grips (and their 45-ish degree angled design) it's pretty uncomfortable when both sticks are at the bottom unless they are really far inset or located near the center of the device, like on the PS Vita. I think that might be why the Project Q is basically a DualSense controller chopped in half, it's hard to design it otherwise!

@@RetroGameCorps Hey, Russ! Thanks for replying. You have good points, I guess I should clarify that I am probably on the minority here, but I find it easier to slide my thumbs quickly DOWN off the sticks to push a face button or a d pad, so I'd like to see the sticks up high with the d pad and face buttons below them. There's probably things wrong with this design that I can't currently think of. The Steam Deck is actually what made me think this would actually work and be comfortable, because of how you can assign radial menus to the track pads, and that can be done extremely quickly and comfortably. I'm probably alone here in wanting this. You have tons of handheld experience, is there a device with this setup, and was it any good? Appreciate your time, thanks for the great content. I forgot to add, you're right. I actually bought one of those cases for the vita that made it more like the PlayStation controller because of the discomfort in my thumbs from having to crook them awkwardly to use the sticks

@@LiteraryCurtastrophe I think the closest approximation to what you are describing is the Wii U's screenpad, which had its analog sticks up top, and a lot of people really loved that pad. So I think it's definitely possible!

As long as the micro SD card reader works correctly, then this has the Ally beat hands down.

Looks like a lovely device, but I wouldn't trust something shipped directly from China (or any country)without warranty support in my country. There are a lot of online forums that have raised concerns about OneX support.

I remember the Onenextplayer had a keyboard attachment that set it apart from the other handhelds out there, will they include one with this?

The onexplayer is just a bad handheld, the heat will warp the sd card slot and or kill the sd card, tech support is almost non existent, there are so many complaints from that thing
