Hi Lee. What can I say, a huge leap forward from last updates. Two aspects that set this apart.... One is how you have re used old Hornby station buildings, particularly the cafe idea, to good effect. We need to see more of this kind of stuff (like budget model railways do...but yours is a step further). The other outstanding element is your skills with an airbrush. The track looks fabulous, the 37 and hoppers even more so. Could I put in a request - to have a video of how you use your airbrush to weather like that, from mixing to blowing it on. Anyway it reminds me now we are coming into wet season again it's time I did another update too. All the best Gary

Gary it's comments like this that really do keep me enjoying this hobby more and more. Love your appreciation on the old hornby stations, always wanted them as a kid and for you guys to appreciate the way ive transformed them is even better. Im glad you like my weathering and airbrushing skills, and yes, I will do a video on the colours, how I mixed them and also how I applied them. Thanks again Gary and looking forward to your next vid. Hi Lee, Your station and surroundings are just first class, You are a natural modeller , you have the eye and the flare to see whats right and wrong. I just love the way you have sprayed your track, and the ballasting is superb. Your right about 2 walkways over the station, I think your the one to watch as this layout out is going to be stunning. Bloody well done mate. Makes mine look a bit dull ha ha ha ha. All the best Duncan.

Morning Duncan, Thanks once again for your nice comments mate, I really do appreciate them and like I mentioned before, they encourage me loads. The ballasting is my first time of ever doing it, so glad you liked it and many people have commented on the weathering and I've been asked to do a tutorial video (which I will be doing in the near future). I thought you'd agree with having 2 footbridges, it just makes sense. As for the station, I'm still doing some more work on them as we speak the chimneys need painting and weathering and.. a sneak preview just for you Duncan... I've taken all the old worn out and frosted Hornby windows in the station, re-glazed them so they're nice and transparent and working on the station interior so you'll see the detail inside when it finally gets lighting. I don't think your layout is dull at all, I think your doing a great job and keep up the good work mate! All the best, Lee

Hi Al, that old silk cut ad just reminds me so much of this era. Love the idea that you like the update (it took absolute ages) but I need it to be acurate as I can possibly get it, such as the weathering on the 56 and 37. Still a bit nervous to weather the roofs, but, I like to give anything a go, so might practice on a cheap loco before hand. Al, so glad to have you on board and hearing your encouragement. All the best Al and thanks again mate. Lee

Nice video Lee ,the coffee shop looks good ,precast concrete is quite light grey you could do your footbridges a lighter colour and the details on those Hornby chimneys, the H S T looks lovely in that colour ,you did get some trains in the 80s that were clean ,nice work mate keep it up ,your got a nice layout there, cheers Mick.

Thanks mick. The footbridges were never gonna stay this colour and your suggestion makes sense, so thanks for that. You are right as well in that the hst's were kept clean (did so much research into this), but, no matter how scared I am now of weathering the hst, they may have been clean, but, the bogies and chasis would never look shiny black, they would be dirty. So might eventually just weather the underside and keep it safe. Glad you like the coffee shop, got some really nice comments on that and really appreciate it. Mick, really enjoy ready your post and look forward to not only joing me in creating the layout but seeing your vids too. Thanks again, Lee

Hi Lee - Great effort with the station and it is surprising how with a bit of thought what a difference can be made to those Hornby Buildings. The station now looks really good and putting in the vegetation really gives it a realistic feel. NSE is close to my heart as from 1980 I travelled into London on it . You made a good job of the bill boards and re cars I have got from Oxford diecast an Austin 1300 in harvest gold which was my first car and I am now on the lookout for an Escort Mark 3 in white !!! You should be proud of your attempts at weathering as both the rolling stock and track have come out very good. I have had a go at weathering some wagons and putting loads in but as I said in my video I have not plucked up courage to try it on a loco !! As there is no work for me tomorrow I will carry on to the next video ….Cheers Kev

Totally love what you've done with the station, the bill boards are great (love the 80's Silk Cut advert) cafe fantastic, as is the station building, the NSE network map was an inspired piece of modelling and really brings that realistic touch to the station! Hi Lee. I think you are making a really nice job of your layout. The station and cafe blend well together and the car park alongside the approach bridge was a good idea. You seem to have made a good start with the planing of how you want it to look like and I am sure everything will come together. The weathering on the class 37 looks just about right, without making it look like an old, 'past its sell by date model' so to speak. Keep up the good work Lee, I will be following your progress as it develops. Cheers for now....................Geoff

Thank Geoff, they are really encouraging words and, you hit the nail on head with the suggestion of the carpark next to the footpath, because its realistic. Seen a lot of model railways (like I mentioned in the video) that basically don't make sense. Such as main roads ending in a oneway street. But glad you agree and also with the weathering, I agree with you too on that... some locos get so weathered that they belong on the scrap heap. Thanks again Geoff and look forward to sharing the progress journey with you. Best regards, Lee

@@leewhall2504 Thank you for your reply Lee. I hope to be putting up another video later today on my progress with Tram Junction. As you only have 87 subscribers, I'll give you a shout out if you like, which should get a few more people interested in your layout. I had a shout out from Graham at Lakeside, after I started my layout in March this year and I now have more than 500 subscribers and quite a few regulars who follow my progress. It's early days for me yet, but the aim of my layout was to combine a tramway as well as a railway in my 10ft x 8ft shed. Not a lot of space, but it's surprising what you can do by keeping it simple without a lot of points. The highlight of my layout are it's bridges and having six independent running tracks for the trains and trams. It all runs on analogue dc. I would appreciate you subscribing to my channel, if you haven't already done so and hope you enjoy what I am trying to achieve. Regards Geoff
