I imagine ranking Ultimate must be pretty hard, as outside Leo and Sparg0, a lot of Top 10-20 players can struggle with random upsets and inconsistencies. The amount of chars in Ult lead to a ridiculous amount of matchups that one has to learn and keep in mind for bracket

Definitely! The people who made the Orion ranking put so much amazing work in, but man they have their job cut out for them. So many factors to consider. Weighting different regions looks super difficult. How do you weigh a big European tournament like Temple compared to Mainstage? Or weighting regional performance vs major performance? That was one of the main critiques I heard about this list. Where someone like Ouch (who is amazing don’t get me wrong) can get top 50 while attending no majors, and someone like Goblin can get a similar placement despite attending a ton of majors and even getting top 8 twice. Or Light, despite getting top 8 or better at every major he attended (and even winning one), ranked 15th because he flopped at the smaller regionals he attended It seems like a super difficult task, especially since OrionRank is purely done via algorithm, so there’s no panel to vote and change any placements. Big props to the people behind OrionRank tho :)

@drakejoshofficialyoutubech5569

I looked it up and didn't see Yoshidora winning a Kagaribi or an Umebura (which is what I assumed you meant) You're probably onto something with the set wins though because in 2021, he took 2 sets each off of Tea and Shuton, and took 1 set each off of Ken, Atelier, and Lea.
@drakejoshofficialyoutubech5569
2 жыл бұрын
I went through the hassle of finding Yoshidora on PGstats, which was harder than it sounds because you have to search his name with Japanese letters otherwise you won't get any results. If you want to look at his stats there, just copy and paste this, it's Yoshidora with Japanese letters: ヨシドラ Anyways, he is 2-0 in set count against Tea and Shuton which are both top 10 players. Between that and the consistent top 8s I'm pretty sure that was why he was ranked so high.

@@drakejoshofficialyoutubech5569 Thanks for doing the research for me I appreciate it. I think I was thinking of a video of Larry Lurr's from like 7 months ago where Yoshidora won a large offline tournament while most of us were still online. But yeah, he really makes that character look busted. Hopefully if he travels more we'll see some more concrete results from him. Def think he is ranked a bit high on this placing though. I just think he does have potential to be that high in the future.

"About Pyra/Mythra. They are very strong, but you still have to be good at the game." Thank you. The amount of toxic people spewing hate over the character and the players is so dumb. They act as if Pyra/Mythra are Sm4sh Bayo broken and that a few pros are picking them up as secondaries is the end of the world. Not to mention that despite their strength, I don't think they've had a player win a major with them yet. Consistently high placements sure but that's mostly because Leo secondaries and Sparg0 is #2 with or without Aegis. Other than Cosmos' recent insane run at SWT, I don't think that there's been any reps besides Leo and Sparg0 at the top.

The big thing with Aegis, to me, is that Mythra is legit a completely new thing. Strange moves, basically new archetype being zelda/sheik with a sword. Hating on this list is cringe it should be obvious that the ranking isn’t objectively “good” because there have not been tournaments with enough top players to get a sense of ranking. Also people really looking kinda racist saying that Japan is weighted too highly, the rankere went in with the assumption that Japan is on the same level of play as NA and it shows in the rankings. A yoshi player consistently being able to beat Zackray Proto tea Shuton etc is easily enough for top 15 and you only don’t think that if you don’t think Japanese players are as good as NA. If someone was consistently beating players like Sparg0, tweek, dabuz, even players like Marss, elegant, kola, lui$ (players definitely worse than the Japanese big 3) would easily land someone in top 10
@FlappyCat-ef6oq
2 жыл бұрын
It's not racist its just different skill levels. It's like comparing apples to oranges but putting them all in the same list. There was barely any travel of japan to an NA tourney due to covid and little incentive because no PGR, but when they did they never made top 3 which shows that they aren't "equal" on the basis of racial equality. I get its hard to decide who to put on between someone that makes top 8s in japan vs someone that gets top 8s in NA when there's barely any travel between them going on, but the way they did it doesn't look right to me and I think the region rankings they made make more sense.

Hey Tweek if you are reading this and you want to unlock Sephiroth's full potential, please consider using less nair and a lot more masume-based attacks in your gameplay. I know masamune attacks are slow, but spaced properly, masamune attacks are almost always safe. However, nair is often not safe (especially against characters with fast frame attacks and a lot of out of shield options). In addition, when Sephiroth tries to go for nair, I often find that Sephiroth ends up playing in an area of Sephiroth's weakness: close range combat. Sephiroth's nair isn't as fast or as prolonged as other top characters' nairs. I find it a lot more safe to use nair when the opponent gets too close for comfort rather than using nair proactively. Thus, I think the key to unlocking Sephiroth's full potential is mastering and focusing on his strength (which is his range) rather than trying to master his combos with nair and side special.
