Has anyone seen one of these installed on the roof of a Winnebago Revel, class B? There's not much room up there.

Hey Thomas, I haven't personally seen that, but all you need is a foot of room between the antenna and any obstructions. If you can find that spot, you're set!

I did mine in a very similar fashion however, Poynting recommends the use of a ground plate when mounting on a roof such as this or you risk degrading your signal to a certain extent. Did you consider that in your install? I haven't noticed any major signal loss but I don't have much to compare against. Great video thanks.

Hey Scott, I spoke with my Pepwave rep prior to the install about this and they said it was not necessary. Basically, recommended, but not required, and my results were really good. Glad you got your unit installed, and thanks for the comment.

@Marc and Ria Tibesar In basic terms, a ground plate is something you mount below the antenna on the roof which creates a surface that reflects signal.

Very scary to me, Eric. I think I’m like Phil Farley; I’d rather pay a professional to install that antenna.

It's nice that you use the same equipment that you sell. That is a real stamp of approval. The only thing that would be handier is if you sold an "install kit" as an add on with it. Include the dicor and the silicone and drill bits etc. Otherwise great videio

Great video Eric. That’s the same equipment that I bought from you and a very similar installation. I upgraded from a mofi 4500 and I couldn’t be happier with the results. Keep up the good work!

Well done Eric. When I told my wife "... I have to drill a hole in the roof of the RV ... " she was less than thrilled. But thanks to the excellent detail in your video ... I'm ready to go!

Hello, thanks for the great video and explanation. Where can I get that white piece and what is it called? I mean the one you used on the roof to pull cables through and make it longer. Thanks in advance!!

Really nice job Eric. Just so happens that we have a '15 Phaeton so the "example" rv is perfect for us! The AC adapter we received with our cat12 duo, from yall, has a pretty small awg and it is not very long. I noticed in the video that you installed a different cord and plug. Did you just simply install an extension cord?
@Technorv

Hi Rick! We installed the Pepwave using the AC power cable that came with the unit and added a short extension cord, yes.

Does your coach have a TPO roof or fiberglass? I have a TPO roof and I believe that Dicor should be used instead fo silicone.
@Technorv

We have a fiberglass roof, and only used silicone to fill the hole as an added measure. To seal the antenna, we used Dicor where it attached to the roof.

fantastic! With this antenna ... does it negate the need for a cellular antenna ?
@Technorv

Hi, this antenna for the Pepwave replaces the normal antennas that screw onto the back of the Pepwave. So basically it is the cellular antenna for the unit. I hope this helps. Eric

Great content. I am looking to install a Pepwave MAX Transit Duo in my Fifth wheel. What made you decide to use a sperate antenna other than what Pepwave uses for the routers? Thanks for the help.
@Technorv
3 жыл бұрын
Thanks, David. We added the rooftop mounted antenna because we wanted the additional power it provides. Our speeds were good when we were using just the antennas that come with the Pepwave, but they went up even more with the antenna mounted. This will come in handy when we are in areas with less signal than we have now. To give you an idea, without the roof antenna we had 51 Mbps down and 9 Mbps up and with the Poynting mounted on the roof, it went to 62 Mbps down and 26 Mbps up. Basically we wanted the best shot we could get at a good cell signal and a roof antenna gives us that.

@@Technorv I am curious, do you know if the Weboost Drive OTR Omnidirectional Antenna will work with the Pepwave MAX Transit Duo? I noticed that you sell Weboost products, but I couldn't find any content for the weboost install with a Pepwave router. Thank you, sir.
