Love your videos and all the work you do to share your knowledge with others. I do have a question. Once you move the slide back, why not just remove the striker? It’s fairly easy to remove the striker cap and it would eliminate the striker to sear interference. Thanks for your attention.
@SIGMECHANICS

Thank you! Yes, that is also a method to achieve the same result. I find it to be a slower process, since what I show here is less than a minute vs. removing the cap which (sometimes) can be slow due to the plastic housing on the striker.

Thanks for this. When removing the FCU; the take down safety bar jumped the mating surface. Unsure why this happened but I detect any damage to the take down safety bar With the sear in the up position I was not able to reassemble the slide to the grip module. This video helped me mitigate the problem. It was a fussy job but I got everything back together and function checked and working well. I have a better understanding of the engineering behind the FCU. Would love to see the p365 catalogue become just as robust as the p320 playlists (like many SIG fanboys; I own pistols from both families).

This happen to me, you don't need any tools. Just rack the slide, and put it back in firing position with empty mag obviously but make sure empty mag is in the gun and no round in chamber obviously, dry fire once. Then pull magazine, rack back and lock, then the slide lever to remove will go in 6pm position and all good and slide should slide off. If firing pin was in fire ready position a while as we carry with a round in chamber and never dry fired prior to removal to reset, i run into this issue and cant easily move slide lever to 6pm to remove slide. Sig told me you don't have to dry fire to remove slide on this gun but I think they are wrong and you do.. because getting that slide level to 6pm is a pain in the ass sometimes so have to do the steps I mentioned. Thanks for the video and the understanding of the insides of this weapon if i ever get it stuck and have to remove slide like you did.

Damn, I thought it would be like the P320, because you can pull the trigger to take the slide off if you don't have a takedown safety lever. Appreciate that you explained why that won't work with the P365. (With the P320, you might have to slightly move the slide rearword while you pull the trigger, because it won't always just release if the slide is even slightly too far forward).

I find that the levers are all loose, the way the part just sits in a recessed area that’s not press fit will almost certainly mean the piece will come out if not managed correctly. When I hold the FCU I always place my thumb over it to avoid it coming out… just the nature of this design really.

just brought a new xmacro home today and pulled slide off, reinstalled not properly, and currently stuck. Since this is a new gun and seems to be a common issue, does Sig take it in on warranty or am I on my own?
@SIGMECHANICS
Жыл бұрын
Removing the slide should not give you this problem. Removing the FCU might cause this if you’re not familiar with the design. For example when you pull the FCU off the grip the pins can shift without you knowing and so it can accidentally become an issue that’s not a warranty related problem, but a user error, which isn’t entirely fair to say since you can’t reasonably expect everyone to know everything about the gun, especially when new. At the end of the day I don’t really have affiliation with Sig so as far as whether or not it’s a warranty thing,I don’t know the answer. I’d have to defer to Sig directly.

Have you attempted to remove the slide cap or follow the instructions on the video? If there is a misaligned or broken part in the FCU it could cause this problem. However, the first thing I would try would be to readjust your recoil rod to see if that is causing the problem you can take a set of needle nose, pliers, grip it from the front, pull it out and rotate a quarter turn to test, however if the recall rod is out of alignment, there will be a slight protrusion of the recoil rod from the muzzle end so check that first before you take Tools to your P365

WHY? : I find that the slide removal lever is nearly impossible to move. I have seen other comments about this, but no solution other than push it with 'a block'. And I am not a novice --- I have many other guns that work. This is BS. There HAS to be a clearance problem somewhere. Does anyone know?

The takedown lever seems to have a problem where if it comes out of place it can be difficult to put back in place. If you remove the FCU, you can manually adjust it so it goes back in place but it’s a bit of a pain. The P365 is the only model. I am a little bit more careful with disassembly. And I always hold the FCU in such a way that my thumb is compressing the takedown lever so it won’t pop out of place. Once it’s inside the grip, there’s generally no problem.

what if the takedown lever will NOT move...gun runs great....i had just put the MCARBO trigger and spring kit in the gun....True Precision threaded barrel with Herrington Arms Comp....Holosun 507k....gun still runs fine and shoots great....however i cannot take the slide off because the takedown lever is impossible to move....i have had multiple gun shops try to rotate the trigger and no one can....it moves to about 5 o'clock and just will not go any further....to the point where you hurt your hand if you try.....has ANYONE had this problem....my last resort is to send it to back to SIG, but they might not work on it because of all the aftermarket parts.....IF ANYONE can help me PLEASE PLEASE reach out....i loved the gun before but i have severely lost faith in it now and i have been treating it like a paperweight

@@SIGMECHANICSgod it literally took me an hour to get it. I just bought it and it’s my first ever hand gun. I own a shot gun and 2 rifles so I take down my stuff myself. But I tried what you said in the video and that didn’t work. So I messed it all up, had a quick cry, and the pin holding it to the grip got stuck. I managed to pull it out with a pair of pliers. But my take down lever would not slide back into place no matter what I did. It works when I take the whole barrel part off and I touch the slide catch it goes back into place. But when I put the barrel back on I wasn’t able to get it to go. I’m not sure how I fixed it but I fixed it. Sorry I’m just now reading your comment. If it happens again I’ll definitely be sending you a video. Also as a side note I have the ambidextrous manual safety on mine.

What causes this failure and how common is it?

I can’t say it’s too common but I have had a few people tell me they had similar experiences. For the most part this method will apply to any issue that prevents the slide from releasing from the grip.

It happened today on my xmacro. The takedown safety lever was broken just like this video. I shoot about 200+ rounds per week, every week, and I’ve had the xmacro for over 75 weeks. So I’ve shot over 15,000 rounds through it, not including all the dry fire training. I put money on this happening to more people over the next 5-10 years.

It’s not an actual issue, in my case it was likely due to the number of time I disassembled the 365 for making content (a lot), but seeing how I was having the problem, I figured I’d make the video for others to use as a reference.

I’m sorry, instead of replying to you I got the wrong button and deleted my response and yours! Edit: to respond to the deleted comment… In that respect, I don’t think it’s possible unless they either substantially “beef up” the parts (which would be hard based on the small/compact size. Or maybe CNC parts. My personal thoughts would be that it is really hard to compare a work of art that is the 1911 to the P365 though. As much as I like the platform they’re just not built the same.

That should not be happening, if you are able to drop the sear by hitting the gun it sounds like it’s not drop safe! Mind you, this video is to demonstrate what to do if you cannot drop the sear with the TDL, if it’s just a little snagged due to the safety lever being in the way or something, then that would be okay.

99 percent of the time this is due to the guide rod being improperly seated. You can always use a bit of leather and a plier to pull on the front of the guide rod and do a quarter turn.

If you can’t get it to click down, it’s most likely just the tool not finding the right spot to engage the sear. Also, double check that the takedown in in the correct position. Last, it’s possible that after you disengage the sear from the striker you need to tap the back of the slide a bit to loosen it off.

Seems like a little bit of work,. You could just rack the slide back and remove the striker and striker block completely.
@SIGMECHANICS
Жыл бұрын
Yes, it’s possible. However, because the striker housing is made of plastic it is prone to being damaged with tools during removal. This is why I try to stay away from that process. As far as time goes, this video is long, so as to clearly demonstrate the process, in reality this takes about a minute or less.

Yes, that is my experience of course. I also disassemble the pistol a lot (comparatively to someone who casually cleans etc), I find that the newer (softer) housing, it ends up getting “chewed up” with tool insertion. The method I bring up here is not going to damage the grip (there’s not much stress at all on the grip) and closely resembles a method people are familiar with on the 320. But you are correct, both options work, it’s mostly preference.
